dream of another world

I had this dream several years ago, but it bothers me a little bit, because of symbolism that I don't understand.

In a first scene, I'm on a hilltop on another planet. Snow and red dirt. No other content to that scene, but it is very lucid, and I can clearly feel the air and the feeling of the place.

In another scene I'm somewhere else on what I presume is the same planet. It has a dry climate, and cool air, but not cold, with a few pine-like trees. I'm stopping the truck at a road end at the edge of a canyon. I stop before a partially constructed layer of glass that's suspended about a foot above the road surface, and I feel like the location might be where the foot of a bridge would be.

I'm a policeman, driving a trailer truck, transporting a handcuffed prisoner. The back of the trailer truck is a metallic cylinder. There's a monster in the cylinder, and I hear it stirring. I free the prisoner, telling him that he's on his own.

In another scene the back of a cylindrical truck is open, and there's a man-eating worm-like thing inside.

In another scene, I'm inside some kind of large factory containing many cylinders.

In another scene, there's a sense of there having been an accident involving an exploding cylinder, I think. This memory has mostly faded.

The repetition of the cylinder image is unusual for me. Sometimes I'll dream of the same thing using two different metaphors that give different perspectives on it, but otherwise there is usually very little repetition in my dreams. I don't feel like I understand what the cylinder represents. My best guess afterwards was its a gigantic heroin needle, but I don't think that's it, at least not primarily.

The feelings in this sequence of dreams are very clear, but I don't seem to be able to connect them to anything in my waking life.

The thing that got me thinking about this again was the latest SpaceX launch failure, since a rocket is a cylinder also, and Musk introduced more ideas about traveling to mars at about that time. The dream feels closer to those images than it did to anything at the time I had it, but it is still not very close.

My dream planet is not mars, or at least not our mars, which is only about half the diameter of the earth and 1/10th the mass. I consider ideas of colonizing mars to be fanciful, the atmosphere is less than 1% as dense as ours. Mars feels to me like a stillborn planet. If it were larger, it would be about the right temperature to live on several hundred million years in the future from now, when the earth is getting too hot from the sun's life cycle. And it would have a lot more water, and an atmosphere. But it is not like that. My dream planet is bigger I think, more like what mars would be if mars wasn't too small. Even then I don't think it feels like mars though.

I can imagine the cylinder to represent a kind of judgmental thought. I think, for example, that people should be honest. My attitude about this is itself a kind of problem though. The metaphor sort of makes sense, but it still doesn't really click, the cylinder also represents something else more concrete than that.

I would say that the feeling for what you can be of high value to come closer to a conclution about what have been seen in the dream. To be a police is to have power and being in control, but since you let a prisoner go just like that, might indicate that something is corrupt in you without your awareness of it. Like biased beliefs. It of course depends what relation and conversation you had with the prisoner or not.

How did you feel about the cylinders and mosters when you saw them, and was they open or locked?

I let the prisoner go so he could escape from the monster.

If I were managing a prison, and it were about to flood, I would let everyone out, I wouldn't just let them drown.

Oh, that's an interesting way. Mosters are often a representation of fear. That's why they often are symbolised in a ugly repulsive form, both in their behaviour and appearance. That might be the most obvious dream interpretion already.

But I think the most important thing here is for you to try to go back to what you felt during the situations you encounterd during the dream, because that will give it an more honest direction of why the dream might have taken the form that it did in it's expression. I think we all have been puzzled about our own actions or reactions in the way we felt and behaved in dreams. So it might not be too helpful in speculating to much in what we believe that we would have done or not done in a particular dream scenario.

You've received some interpretations of your dreams by others. If you'd like mine, then here's what to do.

What I've learnt from my own dreams is that there is nothing in a dream by chance. Therefore, if you answer the following questions, to the best of your recall ability, I will happily give you an interpretation of your dream as if it was mine.

First tell me the number of scenes in your dream. THEN FOR EACH SCENE I want you to tell me the following:

Location:
I want you to look in your mind, as the observer, in the following directions and tell me what you see:
1. To your left.
2. To your right.
3. In front of you.
4. Behind you.
5. Above you.
6. Below you.

It’s all right if you can’t recall much. Simply tell me what you see and make sure I know what direction it is from you the dreamer. In my interpretation, you’ll see how this is a symbol itself.

When you are describing what you see, tell me in as much detail as you can recall about it. So things I am very interested in is what are walls, doors, windows, stairs, tables, etc. made of, age/style, colour, etc. The same goes for anything outside. You’ll see in my interpretations how all of this tells us lots about ourselves.

Lighting:
1. Tell me what the lighting was like, i.e. bright, dull, black, cloudy etc.
2. Then tell me where the light was coming from.
3. Can you tell the time of day or season?
Lighting is important in a dream because it’s a symbol of vibrational state. I’ll explain this during my interpretation for you.

Objects:
If there are any objects in a dream scene, then tell me about them as follows:
1. Shape, size, colour and what they were made of.
2. Where the object is in the dream relative to you, i.e. left, right, etc.

I’ve found objects in dreams are usually symbols of things we first need to concentrate on spiritually. I’ll explain this in the interpretation if you had any objects in any of the scenes.

People:
For each person in a dream scene I want you to do the following:
1. Describe them to me in as much detail as you can recall. This includes age, gender, clothes, colour of the clothes, what the clothes were made of.
2. Tell me where they were in the dream scene relative to you, i.e. left, right, below, etc.
3. Tell me if they were lying down, sitting, standing, walking, etc.
4. Tell me what they did with you. Don’t skip the details. Simply tell me exactly what happened.
5. If there are any conversations or thoughts between you and the person or others, then tell me EXACTLY WHAT WAS SAID. This is important.
6. If there were others you couldn’t see but felt, then let me know where you felt they were in a scene relative to you the dreamer, i.e. left, right, etc.

Animals. Etc.:
If there were any animals, insects, birds, reptiles, fish or whatever in any of the scenes, then tell me. Describe them in as great as detail as you can recall. Also let me know where they were in the dream scene relative to you, i.e. left, right, etc. Then let me know of any thoughts that passed between you and them.

Thoughts/Feelings:
This is a very important part of every dream scene. Take your time, go back and tell me the following for each scene:
1. What was your first thought/feeling as the dream scene began.
2. Tell me of any thoughts/feeling changes as the dream scene progressed and let me know where in the scene this occurred.
3. Tell me your last thought/feeling as the dream ended.

I realize this is a lot of work. HOWEVER, I think you might be surprised by how much you can learn about yourself from a single scene.

Maybe this?..

DEAD
Red dirt might mean passion had dried so needed water, so to speak. Or perhaps is a danger or anger in what is dirty or unclean.
And snow might be what is pure or positive that also had frozen. It's actually water, that may mean emotion.
And you clearly knew what this world felt like.

ALIVE
So then the next scene has life, nice pine trees. They have the elongated narrow shape of a cylinder, but are opposite in being alive.
So maybe the glass means a new view you wanted to construct, or seeing through this, close to the ground or this reality but suspended above it.
To get above it. Hence the bridge to get across to the other side of this canyon or huge drop.

CORRECTION
Next, correction, or justice, for feeling like a prisoner with your hands cuffed or ability disabled.
Maybe it was monstrous, or scary, to be so contained; metal is cold and hard. Or you had some monster within, which stirred.
So you wanted to free yourself, but you're on your own.

FREE
You saw this darkness and blindness ate you away in your past.
Maybe you thought others are like this, life on a process line. Or many parts of you were.
A cylinder is the right shape for a man. So it's what contained you. Hence you could have exploded once, but that faded or maybe is not your usual character.

REPETITION
The repetition of the thing is like in your life. Everyone's in a prison, alone.
You did get two perspectives on this though, but it stayed the same being hard to change.
And your guess it was a heroin needle could fit in some way, like being addicted to it or you have to have it. Maybe even it makes you feel good in a way. Or means your desire to be higher. Like the glass. And the hill.
Even the latest SpaceX launch failure can fit that. Powerful like that drug.

MARS And EARTH
Mars is a dead planet. Possibly it used to have life. Being bigger could mean that is what Earth had become for you.
Think back to several years ago when you had the dream, and how much has changed or not.
No one else was in the dream seems to clearly show it was only about you, I think. And seems a pure or direct dream, one that has stuck with you, or essential, so it may still have meaning.
