Can someone please help and offer their interpretation?

Sorry if this is not the best thread to post this to... the other night I decided to meditate for a little bit before I went to bed. Usually my head is completely clear, no visions, just a lovely peaceful darkness. This has never happened before but suddenly two gorgeous white swans appeared, swimming in a circle. They completed the circle several times before slowly gliding into a spiral before twisting into each other and becoming one, but as they merged they turned into a solitary wedge tailed eagle and flew up high into the sky.

It seems odd but I want to keep referring to the swans as “we”, being myself and another. When I saw the swans I had the feeling of beauty, how lovely it was they were in perfect sync with each other as they circled in unison. When the transformation happened I felt feelings of awe, amazement and the sense that the Eagle was powerful as it took off effortlessly into the sky

I’d love to know others interpretations as I don’t know if I’m seeing it how I want it to be read or if I’m completely off track with it. Many thanks in advance

Do you do a lot of meditation or spiritual development? It sounds like what you experienced was your soul and your spirit uniting, transforming into a single entity, and ascending toward its eventual unification with divinity. This is spiritual awakening, also known by many different names such as Individuation in the Jungian tradition. You might want to look up some videos about spiritual awakenings and see if it sounds like something you might be going through.

Visions like this happen to me often when meditating, although I have to admit they are never as beautiful as what you’ve described! This is Hypnogogic Imagery... it happens to many people on the edge of sleep or while meditating. It is basically a hallucination, a dream forming while your consciousness is still awake. They are fleeting, only lasting seconds, but if you can extend their length it is a great way to gain lucidity straight from the waking state. I’m hoping to use these images to do the WILD method one day.

Hi, I don't really know much about visions, but I love Darkmatters reply. One thing about the Eagle is that it represents omniscience - it can fly high enough to see the past, present and future. The Eagle is also one of the kerubic creatures in Christianity and associated with the Archangel Gabriel, the communicator - this association between communication and great distances is one story about why you see the Eagle on Christian church lecterns. The Eagle is also associated with the gift of prophecy (because it is all-seeing), and in dreams can be a message that the dreamer has that gift. In alchemy, the Eagle represents renewal and rebirth. On the opposite side, the Eagle, which flies high and thus closest to God or the Divine and also represents the highest pursuits of the spirit and the intellect in man, also carries the warning of suddenly being diverted from lofty pursuits to fall into carnality (represented by the Eagle diving to the earth for prey). Darkmatters succinct interpretation seems to pretty much have said it all It sounds like an amazing experience and wonderful, transformative vision.

I believe Finny is correct as well - it definitely was hypnagogia, or a dreamlet as they're called. And like dreams, which they are the seeds of, they often reflect important things happening in your life at the time.

Tansy, I was thinking of what Jung described in Mysterium Conjunctionis as the wedding of --- 2 mythological characters whose names I can't recall, but he said they represented his soul and his spirit. I've been investigating Jungian theory, and his Individuation turns out to actually be what's also known as spiritual awakening or kundalini awakening. But wow - I had no idea of all those associations for the eagle!

Thank you so much! Looks like I’ve got some reading/research ahead of me now! I didn’t know Jung had written any of that, I only knew of the personality types.

I’ve been meditating for almost 3 years now so I’m still fairly new to it and this is the first time I’ve had an image appear. I had a spiritual awakening a little over 3 years ago but I had no idea there was different levels or stages of growth.

      Many thanks
