      Help with a dream

HI, am newbie here. Had a dream about a month ago which has puzzled me a lot. A bit about my self, I am approaching 70 am married am happy at least no real complaints. I am fairly active still. I love nature very much and study nature a lot in fact all my life. I have always had a sight and always had foresight. Was born this way. In this dream my wife and I are standing in the forest. And all the animals are in terror and fleeing past us and heading to the south west. All the birds, the insects, the large and small animals of the forest fleeing in complete panic. There is no storm, no forest fire nothing except their complete terror and their fleeing for their lives. I see nothing in the dream to cause this reaction among them. As I said I have been a seer all my life from very young, not always a pleasant burden to carry. Some things I have seen I never discuss. Can anyone on here give some insight into this dream. I take it as a warning of great calamity, but of what cause I can not understand. Thanks

I have had similar dreams in the past (chaos with no origin). I often think it's a subconscious warning of something happening in your life that you're not yet consciously aware of as a problem. It may be worth sitting down and performing some introspection; examining the parts of your life that might be cause of trouble. Of course, this is my opinion, and everyone will have a varying belief, so it really is up to you as to what your dream means, or doesn't mean.

      Best wishes.

Thanks, it felt much bigger than me. I don't really feel it was about me. I am a very uncomplicated simple man. Whatever it was seemed to feel like a force behind us but not visible to me. But outside me. Perhaps I am wrong. I had no sense of panic or fear during the dream just wonderment and awe.

I have a question. Does Southwest have any significance to you? I find it interesting the dream specified the direction they were headed.

No as I said the wife and I were standing in a forest hiking I suppose, and when the flood of animals, I mean flood, everything that could walk crawl run or fly we were over run with every creature was going past. I turned to see what they were running towards and said to the wife they are all going south west for some reason. They were all in terror and ignored everything and everyone in their flight to safety. As I noted that direction, the thought occurred what are they fleeing from, and I felt a very large presence, what I do not know behind me. I woke then and never saw what they fled. I had no fear of the animals or the presence just a feeling of awe

Animals can represent instincts or primitive underdeveloped aspects of the human. The "animal' parts that we all still have under the surface.

This dream sounds like it could be prophetic like the ones Carl Jung had before WWI, where he saw sudden vivid visions of floods of blood and Europe being flooded and then frozen. Maybe something equally big is going to happen? What country do you live in, if you don't mind answering?

I live in the USA. I have had visions and dreams since I was a child. It is not always pleasant. 6 months ago I dreamt that a huge earthquake would hit California or the western coastline and it woud be unlike any other earthquake I'm memory. My MIL was sick before Christmas 2 years ago, I got up in the morning to make coffee and looked out the window at the garden this was after Christmas, and I knew she was dying. The next day we got a call she was in the hospital and to come. We stayed with her several days, and each morning a dove would come into her yard and sit on the picnic table outside her window. I knew it was her husband, he was there morning and night gently calling. On the morning she died, before we went to the hospital a female dove was with him. I knew she had died. When we got to the hospital shortly after they told us she passed. I asked the neighbors if there were doves around and they said never ever saw any around. I have been like this since a child. I used to consult with a very old Native American woman who was a Medicine Woman, and she was very wise, but she has passed on and I am now living in an area with few Natives. I can generally figure out my dreams, but this one I am blocked somehow as to the meaning. I am close to nature and love nature. Thanks

First, think back a month ago, to what you were thinking or what affected you.

You love nature, and this gift of sight that can sometimes be a burden or unpleasant, sounds like it can feel the opposite or unnatural, or terrifying.
That it felt much bigger than you, you felt the large presence behind, yet saw no source, can all fit that.

Yes, animals can reflect your instincts, fears, emotions, flooding or overwhelming you, as nature can mean your nature.
And this sight, or the fear it may have brought even if momentary or an accumulation or critical point, ignores or overrides everyone and everything. Could it be the worst case scenario, as you are not in control of it? That could be why you are blocking this.
But then again your wife is there, so may be about the relationship.

Southwest might be things going south or wrong, or even suggest flying south for the winter or to safety.
West is where the sun or natural light sets, unless it might mean against the natural rotation of earth and air which is toward east. Or maybe is to do with Native Americans' historical locations or movements - forced west - reflecting now not many are around you.
Or is your tribe Southwest or that direction somehow relates? Or that it's opposite north east, where the animals fled from.

Or is the dream about that increasing separation from your people, and your wife symbolizes togetherness?
It just dawned on me, like the sun, another option is - as you love nature so much - could it be about man wrecking it? You felt it was not you, bigger than you. That may fit the terror better. And fleeing for their lives. However, you as observer had no fear, but awe.
It's even possible to have multi-meanings.

Well thanks for your comments. Gave me many points to consider. I am not Native but have Native blood. When I said it was bigger than me. I meant my wife and I were merely observers to the event. There were no other family members in the dream. I am sure it had to do with the earth or nature. As that was all I saw. I had a dream similar a few years back, when I lived northwest. It was during a severe drought and many forest fires all around my location. In the dream the ancient ones were crying out and chanting for rain to save their people and the plants and animals who were suffering. I did not know the language as they were very old and dressed very primitive. I talked to my Old friend, an old Native Medicine Woman. She said it was a very powerful message. The old ones she called the People of the Deer and said they were very ancient and it was a powerful connection. She said it would rain very soon. The 3rd day after the dream it rained and rained and put out the fires and broke the drought. She talked to me a lot and said I had a powerful gift and to be very careful with it, and asked me to come live in their village and make drums, and talk with young people. The drums would be to heal the young people who were lost. But she who was my counsel has passed. And this dream perplexes me as there is at this time no visible threat. The threat or force was not revealed. Thanks

      Lightbulb A Possibility

      Hi again.
I had thought about this again after, seeing that the difference to your other dreams is that there seems to be nothing really happening.
So could that something that gave terror and panic be a fear? What you may fear in future, though has no cause now?
What could it be that came at that time?

I thought of something obvious actually, that affects everyone.
Then I thought there must be a reason why you had it at that time, and for that evidence I re-read your introduction.

Spoiler for To give you more time, if you want, to see if you come to the same conclusion.:
