Creature that could give life or death

I had a dream that there was this creature who had the power to suck the life right out of people and kill them.* She could also breathe new life into people who were alive and make them feel invigorated or renewed.* She was partly human, but not all human, and I remember recognizing her as female in the dream. In the dream, she was about to take the life out of someone. I yelled and pleaded with her to not do it and to give the person fresh life instead. I remember I felt very passionately about it, and that was the only way I was going to convince her, and I did. She looked at me and then changed her mind and gave the person new life instead. This same scene repeated again.
I've been struggling lately with a lot of unhappiness and frustration about different things in my life, so I think it might be a representation of my inner struggle to remain positive, but I wanted to get some thoughts.*
      Thanks.

It's an interesting dream and I also find it interesting that you might have associated your feelings in life lately to the themes in the dream. It's always difficult to say what could be most relevant about a dream, honestly. As always, I think that interpretation is mostly down to the person who had the dream, and without knowing you, I still think your interpretation seems sound at its core.

The female element may have relevance to you only symbolically, or maybe in some other way. Symbolically speaking, at least in Western culture, the female figure seems to have a greater tendency to be associated with life and life-giving properties than the male figure, so one thing that springs to mind is that perhaps something in your life is lacking a positive feminine touch (literally or not). And at the same time, the female aspect can be used as a metaphor for Nature as a force, a lady that kills as much as it gives life; the aspect of being only part-human would reinforce this for me personally.

It could just as much be about something feminine in nature feeling like it's been overpowering some part of you? Would you have acted against her if she hadn't accepted your pleading? I am guessing the scene repeated itself the same way, at least.

In any case, you could think about what meanings you personally hold to female figures or femininity and try to figure out why this might be a relevant element in that way. You can apply this logic to other dream elements too.

Personal curiosity, the part of her that wasn't human, was it like any animal specifically, that you can recall?

Thank you for your thoughts! That's very interesting. I'll have to give it more thought. I'm not sure if I would have acted against her. In the dream, what the other, non-human part of her was wasn't clear. And yes, it repeated the same way.

I agree with Dark for the most part. I would just add that a female can also symbolize emotionality, especially if you are male. So, the emotional part of yourself. I also recommend looking up the "anima" from Jungian dream psychology.

I wonder, what was the person that she almost killed / saved like?

Thanks Moon. Good question, but I couldn't tell anything about the other person in the dream.

Thats an amazing dream! The creature has an stunning resemblance to an ancient mesopotamian goddess. She is represented as a middle age woman with green clothes, red hair and feline eyes, and a big part of her body is covered in roots and plants. Her name is unpronounceable, but can be written as something like "S'di Ehla" more or less. She is the goddes of equilibrium, and her function is to drain life from the ones who dont need it anymore and give it to those who need it, according to what she thinks its correct, so she can be convinced to heal somebody if given good arguments through prayers. So if the sumerians gave that meaning to the action of draining and giving life force, who knows, maybe your dream has a similar meaning, like your passion is enough to make a persons life important, or that your will to save somebody may be stronger than you think!

Thanks Thel! That's a very interesting thought. I like it. And I didn't know about the goddess- I'll have to read more about her.
