Terrible nightmare of being held hostage

I had a terrible nightmare. Myself and a bunch of other people were being held hostage. The woman next to me said she was going to try to do something to help and managed to slip away. One of the people holding us hostage noticed she was gone, and I remember thinking "Oh no, they're going to think I know something."* Sure enough, they started torturing me to try to get me to tell them what she was doing, but I didn't.* I was literally screaming in the dream, then I woke up. I have no idea what could have brought that on, but it was disturbing. I'd appreciate any thoughts.* Thanks.*

      Hi,
      interesting dream.
The fact to be held hostage, I would think of something or someone holding you back. It can be your own emotions as well that can hold you back to achieve or progress on a project or a path.
In a dream every projection of the mental become real, that s why, you feared that they will do something bad to you and they did. so maybe take a step backward to breath and don t be entangled by your emotions, if not you will probably hurt yourself (i don t mean in a physical way specially)
The women finding a way to escape, i think it shows that to find the door of the problem, you have to follow your intuition, the female part that is in you.

Hope it helps, I m a beginner on interpreting dreams.
The best person to interpret is still yourself

      Cheers

Do you mean that your dream is a projection of your mental state? I know from my experience that dream logic can trick you into thinking that you are in fear.
I had a dream like that last night too. I know for me, it may be just minor letdowns or stress about work. It's a common theme for the first dream at night. You can try to use your emotions to prompt you to a Reality Check. That way, your dream logic doesn't trick you!

I dont know if all the dreamscape is like that but yea, like when you are lucid, you can project your thought into the dream to have the thought becoming the reality of the dream and I think that it is the same when you are not lucid, expect that it s with stronger emotion that it manifest, like you are controlled by your emotion and thought instead of controlling them, pretty much like in waking reality hehe

I had similar experience, that in the dream I was like "ho no, this going to happen" and it was happening. maybe the subconscious want to justifie that your fear is real so it makes it happen. (it s just a though, more from experience than research)

And for sure if you are able to reality check and see the dream as a dream, then the grip of the fear and the nightmare are released. Mostly like in the waking life, if you see the thought or the emotion as it is, it doesn't have a grip on you anymore and you can think and act with clarity.

This is one of the reasons I have a DJ. I recall that usually know why I dream of such things... This is probably because I read it here. And just dream about it. Noting more or less.
