      A White Unicorn

Here's a particularly intriguing dream from last night. It's got lots of imagery to interpret and while I'm pretty good at interpreting my own dreams, I think this one would benefit from wider discussion.

      A Unicorn Dream!

I was staying in a manor house which also seemed to be a magic school for the aristocracy. I had many teachers and I was more or less myself - with shapeshifting ability intact, as I transformed into a demon in one lesson.

The manor house was situated near a wood in many picturesque fields. It was midsummer and a peasant girl outside was doing a pagan ritual. She carried a large amount of red leaves. She chose a spot some distance from the school and began dancing. She scattered the leaves as she did, creating a circle of red on the ground.

The masters of the magic school didn't much believe in these pagan rites, but the peasants and servants enjoyed them. One footman was off duty at the time and watching her. Finishing her dance, the girl came towards the house, still trailing red leaves. The footman came to meet her. The girl put a traditional blessing on the house and the footman paid her.

That night, I envisioned the girl dancing, in glimpses and slow motion. It was entrancing. Then without really knowing what I was doing, I leapt out of the window and transformed into a white unicorn. I seemed to have been hypnotised and my only instinct was to follow red. The trail of leaves was stil there, so I followed them, galloping my hardest. By the time I reached the circle of leaves, I was exhausted. I sank to my knees and could not move.

Then horses and riders arrived. The peasant girl rode on a white horse, only she wasn't a peasant girl. She'd lost her disguise and revealed herself to be the elf queen, my enemy. I'd fallen straight into her trap. She said something as she looked at me:

Pity the fool who makes her bed
In a circle of fallen red.

She was accompanied by several male elves who rode dark grey horses with white feet. Two of these made their horses lie down. They put me across the backs of the horses and tied me to them. The elves went back into the woods, taking me with them. Then the dream ended.

Wow, that sounds like an awesome dream. It made me laugh when the elf queen said something about "pity the fool" - I immediately thought of Mr. T. Dreams of mythical places and animals are always the most interesting for me, too - I think it's because I like fantasy books and movies.
