ritual? Interpret Please

OK, I'll say this dream from first to last, and give needed information. I'll write it like a story, since that is easier for me.


I was standing at the edge of a crowd, wearing a light blue gown and holding daisies in my hands. It was night, and it was starry and warm. On the horizon there was a twinge of pink. (I am 13, single, and a virgin) My friend Shelby walked by me, down the aisle, wearing a black gown. (14, Single and a virgin) She also held daisies, but I knew one thing was different, and it was that she was having Mark's baby. In an instant I found Mark, sitting down with his head in his hands. (Mark is 14, single and also a virgin) He was wearing his normal clothes and had a look of shyness and a little bit of fear on his face.

Shelby just kept walking, not looking at him at all. She reached the front, said something, then came back down the aisle, now with a huge smile on her face and a crown of lilies on her head. She stopped at me, and we both walked up the aisle.

As we approached it I saw that there were two pillars, and beside the pillars, there were two urns that had a flame in them. We laid our daisies beside them, and I picked up a rose and we turned to the audience. We were sprinkled with nice smelling oil, and said some words over, and we stood there a moment. I could hear the fire snapping. Down the aisle there were torches, with flowers hanging from them.

I snuck a glance over at Mark, still with his head in his hands, looking from Shelby, the mother of the unborn baby, (his, to be exact) and me, the younger virgin with the rose. Shelby looked to him too, and then the dream ended. But just before, I noticed the presence of four stiches on my upper arm, which I had recieved in the previous dream.

In the dream I was not pregant. But Shelby was. I felt this was like an ancient ritual.

Does anyone know of a ritual similar, either historic or mythological? It did not seem to pertain to and God.

Graduation in another month, and we will be leaving so much behind. Could this be relating to that in any way? (We will be going to high school)

Well, the four stitches in your arm you say you received them in the previous dream. It seems clear that that is an indication that the previous dream and this one are definately related. Do you remember that dream or how/why you received the stiches?

I do think this probably relates to graduation. Starting high school is a big transition. From daisies to a rose, a rose is a grown up flower, often, usually, having romatic significance, although roses are used to honor people who have achieved something. For example, winnners of car races are given a kind of stole of roses. The winning beauty queens are given roses. And sometimes, the love that roses signify is non-romantic--like the roses some give their mothers on Mother's Day. But it is a flower which is associated with adults. So, that symbol of exchanging daisies for a rose is a kind of right of passage into adulthood. :)

Your friend had a crown of lilies. I don't know what lilies symobolize to you, but I am sure it is significant. The crown, I think, is a symbol of achievement. I am guessing academic, but maybe not necessarily so. How did Mark do in school? Something is wrong with Mark. He is just wearing normal clothes; he is not participating in the ritual with the rest of you. You say he has a look of shyness and fear. How does he feel about making this transition? My guess is that your friend, Shelby is very excited about it--maybe more so than you.

Shelby doesn't look at Mark and you end up walking down the aisle with her--which does come across as kind of a marriage ritual. This doesn't necessarily mean anything sexual--a close friendship. Marriage is a word that is used to express a joining often of ideas or similar things or people. She's the one who calls the shots, isn't she--in this group of friends? She the more dominant personality of three of you in the dream. Her actions are of accepting you, but of rejecting him. There are two torches and two pillars and you two and Mark is left out. This seems to indicate possibly a changing dynamic in this group of you and your two friends. She is definately closer to you? You have to sneak a glance at him? He seems outcast or left out--why? Shelby does in the end look at him.

The impression that I am getting is that you seem to regard this transition to high school as a kind of gaining of sexual maturity. And that seems to be your main focus or concern?

Pregnancy can mean the incubation of an idea or a new life (high school).

I remeber I had a cut on my arm in the first dream, and thats how it began.
