      Hotel Dream...

My name is josh, 15 year old male, and i live in new jersey.
I do have this one dream that has happened twice, although it was a couple years ago,
and a few years apart, which makes it sort of interesting.

Well, im not exactly sure what happened in the very beggining of the dream, but here it goes.

Im driving along a dark road with no traffic, and the sky is dark. The area around the road is basically a desert. Basically loads of darkness. In the dream, i am a grown man with two kids and a wife. I cannot recall the sex of the children. We are looking for a place to stay. Possibly on some sort of road trip. We see this hotel and decide to pull in to check it out. This place looks sort of like an old mansion, something that you'd see out of a tim burton movie. We go in. The inside has the same chilling feel as the outside. I check it out, and decide to stay. Before i book a room, the man at the desk (who i think was slightly irregular looking, like in an abstract painting) tells me something like this 'Once you go in, you never leave.' I agree to stay anyway. I go up the grand staircase with my family and we hang our coats on a life-filled coat hanger thing. It looks like its out of alice in wonderland. So we stay the night. The next day, we obviously try to leave. They say no. I jump off the staircase, and a demented clown comes jumping at me. We are flying at each other in slow-motion. At this point, i wake up.

A very peculiar dream to be sure. I think the first appearance was when i was 8-9 years old. Then again between 11-13 years old. I have two brothers, live with my parents.
My parents fight alot. They are "nothing fighters". if anyone listens to dane cook. (Hahaha) funny man that guy. it really grains on me. Not to mention i havent done very well in school in 8th grade. It caused alot of psycological pain. Feelings of failure, etc. I'm finishing up 9th grade now, and im doing better. Still not great. I'm probably a C+ to B- student average.
The last two years of my life have been very trying.
My parents also used to fight alot when i was little. little meaning 5 years old. I can still remember the fights.

      Thats about it.

      Wow. Quite a sob story.
      hahahah.

      Thanks for your time.

First of all you say in the beginning that you're 14 and in the end that you're 15!

Now that I get past that point, the dream...
The car is control over your life, the darkness is not knowing.
The hotel is a temporary phase you're going through, which is cold.
The hotel is not such a temporary place as you are going in when it's suppose to be. The most important part is that clown, either not taking life seriously or making a fool of yourself out of inferiority complex. Both of you two jump at each other and you wake up at that time, meaning it runs into the present.
Then you're moved to talk about your parents fighting so much. This will be hard on any kid.
Once possiblity is that this is an anxiety dream about your future as an adult. More likely it's your emotional condition in the present. The hotel may be the difficulties of the cold dark environment of your parent's arguements, each one. While the arguements are temporary they stay with you, and makes you feel inferior. But I'll need your feedback on that.

I'll need your feedback on that.[/b]
I also remembered one other thing about it.

I jumped off the staircase to try and jump over the man who was blocking my way.

      Hotel California by The Eagles

      On a dark desert highway
      Cool wind in my hair
      Warm smell of colitas
      Rising up through the air
      Up ahead in the distance
      I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy, and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway
      I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself
This could be Heaven or this could be Hell
Then she lit up a candle
And she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor
I thought I heard them say

      Welcome to the Hotel California
      Such a lovely place
      Such a lovely place (background)
      Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
      Any time of year
      Any time of year (background)
      You can find it here
      You can find it here

      Her mind is Tiffany twisted
      She's got the Mercedes bends
She's got a lot of pretty, pretty boys
      That she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard
      Sweet summer sweat
      Some dance to remember
      Some dance to forget
So I called up the Captain
      Please bring me my wine
      He said
We haven't had that spirit here since 1969
And still those voices are calling from far away
Wake you up in the middle of the night
      Just to hear them say

      Welcome to the Hotel California
      Such a lovely Place

      Such a lovely face
They're livin' it up at the Hotel California
      What a nice surprise

      Bring your alibies

      Mirrors on the ceiling
      Pink champagne on ice
      And she said
We are all just prisoners here
      Of our own device
      And in the master's chambers
      They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives
But they just can't kill the beast
      Last thing I remember
I was running for the door
I had to find the passage back to the place I was before
      Relax said the nightman
      We are programed to recieve
You can check out any time you like
      But you can never leave

I was guessing that there were problems at home from the very first sentence of the dream which was that "you were driving." You say that you had this dream first when you were 8-9. Driving is a very mature action for a child so young. At 15, it might not be so unusual to dream that you are driving, but you also dreamt that you had a wife and 2 kids and that you were taking responsibility for them by trying to find a place to stay.

Kids who grow up in families like yours are usually forced to mature faster than other children. They have to take on more responsibility and think like adults at an earlier age, because the parents aren't acting like adults.

I don't consider anything that you wrote to be a sob story. You wouldn't believe how common homes like this are. It sucks.

It's dark. You're looking for a place to stay. I think in a way you feel homeless now. A house is not a home. The two kids in the back of the car are your two siblings who you feel as responsible for as if you were their parent. Even younger kids look out for their older brothers and sisters too and parental responsibility for them. You didn't mention ages that I remember, but that's just the way it works sometimes.

I think the scarey hotel is home. You'd really like to leave, but you're stuck--for now. Could the demented clown jumping at you remind you of either of your parents? The coolest symbol is the "life filled coat hanger thing." Coats can be like costumes of uniforms. Could indicate your role in life now--as an unhappy kid of two messed up parents. (Been there. Done that.)

This dream probably recurs at different times in your life because unknown (to me, at least) stressers may have kicked you parents' bad behavior up a few notches.

Hang in. (Hang in--life filled hanger thing, hmmm.)

      Take care 8)

      Inspirer,

You use a male symbol, but in the dream of the man changing his gender, you say that you'd like to feel what it's like to be a man for a day and something like "bag some bitches." If you're a guy why do you need to feel what it's like to be a man for a day? And why the devil would you like "to bag bitches?"

Cut the kid some slack. I'm not seeing any inconsistencies with HIM.
