      putting feces in my mouth

I have always had colorful, passion-filled (either fun or very frightening) intense dreams. Never a lucid dream. Many recurring dreams, or themes. upon waking, I remember little details - just the intense emotion each dream left in me.

A few months ago, my dream life took a turn. I have been having very strange, somber, almost emotionless dreams. Alligators and sea serpents have populated my dream life lately - they aren't frightening, I think they want to tell me something or warn me. I'm not scared, but I know they can be dangerous. I've done a lot of research on interpreting this: water imagery, reptiles, femininity, etc., and I think it has a lot to do with my self esteem. I have, in this time frame, quit smoking, taken up yoga, and started learning to meditate. I think the dream alligators are helping me sort through my murky, sometime self distructive self image.

Last night, a dream I've never had before. It had the same somber, emotionless quality as the alligator dreams - I feel detached, like I'm observing myself scientifically. In this dream, a faceless man is telling me a long drawn-out story, perhaps a joke, and egging me on to do things to reach the punchline. He tells me to put my feces in my mouth - I do, and have to hold it there for many minutes while he tells his story. Then, he has me spit it out into a large balloon, or something that really looks like a giant condom. I can still feel and taste feces stuck between my back teeth and I become so focused on scraping it out with my tongue and fingers, that I loose track of the man, his joke, the punchline we never hear. Then I woke up.

I am deeply disturbed by this dream. While the overriding emotion of it was somber, grey, almost lifeless, I feel violated, like something evil came into my dream world, just when my alligators and I were starting to make friends. I haven't found traditional interpretations of feces (a financial windfall, feelings of guilt) useful at all.

Thoughts? Advice? Please let me know. Thanks.

Feces is the result of your body getting rid of daily waste. Normally, when people ask for interpretation of dreams where they are having a bowel movement or urinating, I would say that is a symbol of their spirits cleansing themselves of some unnecessary waste.

In this case however, I would say that, for whatever reason, you/your spirit seems to be taking in some unnecessary waste, and holding onto it. Even when you rid yourself of it, parts still remain and take up so much of your energy that you are missing out on something that’s going on in front of you.

Condoms are meant to safely catch semen. To spit the feces into a giant condom (or balloon, it doesn’t matter), suggests that you might either want to hold onto it, or keep it hidden safely away from others.

But remember, this is just my interpretation of what you have said. I don’t know you at all, so I could be way off. Either way, I hope this helped a bit and gave you something to think about.

      Hi AustinRoz

Well I probably see dreams in a different way to yourself. Most dreams to me do not link so much to long term changes in our feelings but to specific emotions forming within our mind at the time of the dream

I often see men as linked to pressure. they symbolise how we are been forced into doing something. The feces is often symbolic of frustrations and embarassments. To me this dream could be about you putting too much pressure on yourself to discuss bad feelings. Teeth often link to things said.

I am not sure of the specific reasons that would give rise to this dream. Its obviosuly much easier to interpret your own dream. But actually one tip is to write down some quotes which summarize your own feelings. Think about the things which troublked you the day before. Think of the challenges about the day ahead. Think of the things you have been lying awake thinking of. These conceptual emotions are what dreams link too.
