assumed identity . . . .

I was at some sorta Party at a friend's house. We were all playing this game where we had to guess people's assumed identity. Like we would ask questions like "where you ever arrested?" and they would answer. The main guy that was trying to figure out was playing the role of some old school gangster. At the end of the night they let out the paper that had everyone's identity written down. I was surprised to find that the women at the party were also assuming identities and i didn't even know, I thought it was just the guys. I felt pretty lame at that point. Then I realzed that everyone there had been assigned a role except me. I felt really left out - and stupid - again for not knowing what every other person at the party did.

. . . and I have no idea what it means, any ideas?

let me offer some more info:

I am 25, my life has changed entirely in the course of the last year. I graduated college about a year ago, got pregant right after that, had a baby three months ago, and just got a new job in the middle of all this. I guess i'm in one of those "transitional" phases of my life. which always leaves me feeling a bit of balance.

My guess is that the party is society. The guys are men, who don't get pregnant, and have defined roles in society. The women have roles too. You feel left out because you are without set plan in life, there's no definition of the way you are suppose to be, but you do not see this lack of definition for others.
The guy who was being a gangster might represent the man who got you pregnant. This is all just a loose guess.

that does seem to make sense for the most part.

the only thing I still don't get is the gangster, he didn't seem to have anything in common with my bf.

well its not an easy dream to solve. Actually interpreting other peoples dreams is not easy. Yet it can be done. The trouble is that they refer to very general things and can refer to the past or the future yet give little indication in the dream at all.

Often dreamns refer to things specifically from the day before. They maybe quite seperate and seemingly unimportant things associated with your hobbies or whatever. yet they may of course link to issues concerning realtionships or your own personality. dreams really are symbolic representations of your day to day thoughts.. that can be about something someone said whilst waiting in a queue that really made you think, it can be about your health , it can be about your strategy towards some work project. It can be about anything..., its about the stuff in your head.. even if that is paranoias and thoughts about crushes etc

so think about things which stuck in your mind from the day before this dream..

the dream features a game.. often we play games in our own minds.. this is a game about identity... think about the following questions

1. do you feel like you are being judged for the identity you have?
2. who would you think the gangster represents in real life? does someone judge you about your role as a young mother?
3. in what situations have you been in in which some game weas being played.. judging you and judging everyone?
