Talking to the Devil & More

Hey, I had this weird dream about 4 days ago... can't get it out of my head.

I was at a public pool with my good friend, when I suddenly saw a girl who I used to be friends with last year (our friendship just drifted apart). We were talking about how great it was to see each other again, and she continued to beg me for a hug. I finally gave her a hug, and she proceeded to tell me that she had 'problems.' I inquired as to what her problems were, and she told me that she thought she was posessed by the devil. At this point, my friend, the girl, and myself had moved away from the pool and into an empty room with nothing but a door and a telephone.

The girl suddenly started convulsing, and her face became scrambled (think of looking at a snowy tv). I was a little freaked out, but stayed in the room out of curiosity. Suddenly, the phone rang, and my good friend picked it up. He turned to me and said, "It's for you." (This is the part of the dream that becomes absurd). I pick up the phone, and I hear a dark, low voice that says, "Hello. This is the devil. I am calling from inside the girl's body." I calmly responded, "Why are you doing this to the poor girl? What do you want?" The devil then said, "That's not important. I have a simple message for you..." BUT I CANNOT REMEMBER WHAT HE SAID. He definitely relayed a message to me, though.

Right when I heard the message, my mind succumbed to fear, and I started running away. I reached a flight of stairs and started running down the stairs for a terribly long time. The stairs seemed like they would never end, and with each step I took I became even more anxious about my conversation with the devil. I finally reached the end of the stairs, and ran out the door, only to be seized by a gremlin-looking guy.

The picture froze, and the letters spelled out GAME OVER. My vision suddenly panned out, and I was staring at a television screen with a Playstation 2 controller in hand! The entire thing had been a part of the game (although I was the main character of the game). I decided that I couldn't win with myself as the main character, so I had the option to change the main character to anyone else in my family. After carefully thinking about it, I decided to choose my dog! I then beat the game with my dog as the main character.

Does anyone have any insight or interpretation on this weird/disturbing dream?

I won't go into too much detail about the specifics of this dream... but I'll share with you some things that could help. I've had similar dreams... one's filled with intense fear... and yes, once I spoke to "the devil" as well. Scared the SHIT out of me. There may be a part of your conciousness... a part of your life... where you are afraid to confront something. It could be something as simple as taking on a new job or embracing a huge change in life... this part I do not know. But this girl in the dream I believe is you. And there is a "devil" inside of you that you are afraid to speak to... a devil that you are afraid to confront and perhaps eventually embrace and/or express. So you ran away! Completely understandable... but then you lost the game... didn't you? So THEN, you win it with your dog! Haha... fantastic. So... my answer for you... is perhaps you need to become a dog/beast/devil... in order to conquer your darkest fears... and don't be afraid... JUST DO IT! = )

My guess is that there is something deeply corrupt about your feelings for her, and it scares you. You try to get away but you cannot get away from yourself. The video game would be about manipulation of yourself and others. You decide to try again by being your dog, perhaps your dog is good natured and that's what it's about.
