      Hi everyone,

I hope anyone would feel free to give me his or her honest opinion.

Recently, I had this dream and I hope to hear those so inclined to give their opinion as to possible dream interpretations.

(I am aware of Milarepa's --- Tibetan Dream Yogi and Guru --- advice not to take dreams too seriously. Nevertheless, I feel I should ask this question in this board to gain a broader perspective)

My dream went briefly like this:

I was lying down on the cement floor in the front of my grandparents' old house (this was the house I had spent my childhood in, right up to my teenage years; this house has since been sold). (I was lying down outside this house in the dream).

I was lying down with my face facing up (which I suspect to be my actual sleeping position on my bed in the waking world).

I then noticed this vision (I suppose I could call it that) in the sky:

I saw 2 clouds being parted, like showing a gateway or portal in its middle. The clouds are of a shade of blue (even the sky is of a shade of blue, if I recall correctly).

In the portal or centre of the parting of the clouds is an image of the upper part of a mountain, which is also a certain shade of blue in colour (quite bright blue, I think).

If I am not mistaken, at that time, I was thinking to myself in the dream: "Is this a vision of the Purelands?"

      Notes:
      1) This is not a lucid dream (that is: I wasn't aware I was dreaming in this dream)
      2) I have quite frequent lucid dreams, which naturally occur.
      3) In many of my dreams, the dream location is at the house where I spent my childhood in.
      4) In my waking life, I did have the wish to see or visit the Purelands in my dreams, I think.
      5) I am Buddhist and tend to interpret my dreams in accordance with that framework. (Non-Buddhists please feel free to give me their own interpretations, whether agnostic, atheist, or any other religion)

      Thanks for your time.

hm...this is very interesting...i'm probalby not the best to ask..but i'll take a stab at it..

it could mean the pureland as you mention..but remember it's a dream, so everything doesn't have to be literal.. you can look at the parting of the clouds and view as maybe you have found salvation, peace or enlightenment within yourself..or it represents something that you want to reach..

how did you feel when you saw it? what is going on in life around you? was there any particular event that happened?

and i think it's interesting to note that it's the house where you spent your childhood..i think that counts for something..i'm not sure what, since it's your dream...

i hope that helps you until other people post

It could be your mind simply fufilling your wish to see the Pureland. I guess what you really have to go by is your feeling when you saw the mountain. Were you happy, scared, etc?

      Hi wisia,

thanks for your post. It is appreciated

Yes, I agree it represents a goal (probably a spiritual goal I think) for me reach.

Good questions you ask......I shall try to remember what events are happening in the day/s before I have a particular dream. (I think in this case, it is probably my waking hours aspiration to see or be in the Pureland during my dream state)

Yes, I think that house or what it represents is somehow significant as it is a regular theme in my dreams. ( anyway, I just recalled that that house wasn't the first house I stayed in probably, but it was the one where I spent a significant part of my childhood).

Hmmmm.......I guess I was puzzled when I saw that image in the sky......puzzled and then curious....those were my feelings.....I was curious, so I remembering staring/gazing at that image in my dream.

If I remember to, I will post my own interpretation, which is meant to be a possible interpretation. But would like to see what insights others could share with me first.

Thanks again for sharing your view. Any input is appreciated

      Best regards,
      DarkMind

      Hello,

thank you for sharing your thoughts

Hmmmm.......I wasn't scared at that time......neither was I happy.....as mentioned in my previous post to another forummer: I guess I was puzzled when I saw that image in the sky......puzzled and then curious....those were my feelings.....I was curious, so I remembering staring/gazing at that image in my dream.

I guess my puzzlement could have triggered a lucid (reality check), but it didn't.

      Best wishes,
      DarkMind

You know, I would guess that whatever mental/emotional state a child exists in is important here. Noted that the two important landmarks aer your childhood home and the Pureland. I read that you agree the Purelands could represent a goal, so perhaps the setting where you can see the mountain is important to achieving the mountain, so to speak. In other words, the nature of a child might be a part of your path towards the Purelands.
Just a guess, this was my first impression so I thought I might share. =)
