I dreamt this morning that I was a prisoner in a state or federal prison, and other prisoners gave me a gun and description and photograph of a prisoner they wanted me to kill, or else they would kill me. I was pretty nervous about it. We were wearing overalls and I hid the gun in my lower pants pocket on my right leg, and it showed so I sat down with my legs under the table at the mess hall.
A guard was suspicious of me, sat next to me and really seemed to already know everything but didn't look down at my leg. I almost confessed everything but just looked away and acted like I don't understand him. It worked and he left.
Then the masses of other prisoners came in for lunch and sat everywhere. At my table were the prisoners who wanted me to do the job and were getting impatient for my taking so long. I explain that waiting for the right time takes patience. I also remember that a potato makes a very good silencer (one time use) and wanted to get one. (I actually did hear about that on tv once.)
Then to my complete astonishment an invading foreign army marches into the prison. I looked amazed at them, while everyone else showed no emotion and just ate. My tablemates told me not to show fear, just keep eating and don't attract attention.
The last thing I remember is pondering my choices. To kill the target and hope to get away with it. To open fire at the soldiers fighting for my country and getting myself killed and the other prisoners too which I didn't care about, to do nothing at all, or just put the gun to my own head.
For while I laid awake going over and over this dream to remember it, when I should have been writing it down.
