One of my closets friends told me about a dream he had last week. This is one of the first dreams that he had in years so I'm really curious to what it could mean.

He said that in his dream in was in a swamp/lake shore and he was looking for something- but he didn't know what. He found a boat that was tied up to a pier. When he looked inside the boat, he found that there was some water in the boat. He then jumped into the boat making it overturn and he ended up in the water and sank to the bottom. Once he reached the bottom, some seaweed started to rub against his back and legs. He spent a lot of time talking about how he hated feeling all of this slimly seaweed. While he was dealing with the seaweed, he remembered going to class and then coming back to his dorm room to go to sleep. He realized that he was dreaming and forced himself to wake up by squeezing his eyes and trying to get up. He also mentioned that it was really difficult for him to wake up because he felt this really strong pressure on his chest that was pushing him down.

Hi, and welcome to DV!!! Feel free to send me a pm with any questions, and I'll try to answer them as best as I can.

If he realized he was dreaming, he shouldn't have tried to wake up... instead, he should have tried to take control of his dream. He got lucid, that's the hardest part... form there, all he had to do was whatever he wanted to. Fly, swim, dry up the lake with his mind...

There may be a few members here who may know about dream meanings, but most of the time, dreams are just pretty random experiences, having no meaning whatsoever. This website is mostly for lucid dreaming, that is, realizing you're dreaming, and the related topics. In a dream, you are not bound by any physical laws, and whatever you do in your dream has no consequence in the real world. Take a read [post="http://www.dreamviews.com/index.php"]at the very first page of this website[/post] because it explains dreaming better than I ever could.

Is it the first time he got lucid in a dream? If so, did he always try to just wake up? Have you ever had or tried to have a lucid dream?

I think that it is his first lucid dream because he said that he has not had a dream in years.
I usually have many dreams but I have only had two lucid dreams.

He doesn't talk very much-in fact he told me that he usually hates talking. I was surprised that he told me his dream.
