I had a crazy dream a week ago last Sunday.

I wrote this down because it just didn't make sense.

I work at a technical college in IT and I work kind of closely with this instructor-I'll call her J. We're kind of close and she's very attractive and intelligent and always calls when she needs help. I'm not sure what this dream means and it really scared me because I have no idea what it means. I kind of thinks she likes me but am not sure. I’ve known her since 2002.

Here's the dream:
I’m sitting in the living room reading the newspaper. J is sitting across from me in a chair next just outside the kitchen. The TV is turned on. I’m reading the paper a song comes on. Bruce Springsteen’s Stolen Car (The River 1980). The first song lyric is I met a little girl and I settled down. In a little house out on the edge of town. I look at the tv and the movie that comes on is Sylvester Stallone’s Copland with the credits showing “Sylvester Stallone, Robert DeNiro, Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta etc”. J disappears and we shift to a new person. A DMX gangsta/rapper whoever walks into the room and says “Hey man… here’s the acid use it carefully”. I take the acid and throw it on the kitchen floor and the kitchen disintegrates and the oven and the table and the refrigerator disappear into the floor.

The scene shifts again and I see J on the steps to basement from the kitchen. She has her face covered on top of both of her hands and arms and is tired and is down face forward. I gently massage her neck to wake her up and she gets up and says “I’m going home. I made you dinner.” As I help her up she has a beautiful diamond ring on her left hand. End of dream.

Should I tell this person?

I don't know what you believe about dreams. But in my belief system, she has nothing to do with your dream. Yes, her image was in it but not her, the person. What I'm saying is that the dream was all about you.

You have uncovered some powerful feelings. Feelings that you have deep inside but in your dream "she" becomes the focus for them. The dream does not mean she has feelings for you or that the two of you are destined to be together.

Not sure about the significance of the gangsta in all this. Some kind of contrast in your dream, I think, which reveals other feelings you have.

So to answer your question, I would first ask yourself whether your relationship with J is strong and open enough for the two of you to talk objectively about it. I can't help thinking that you're trying to get some kind of outcome in all of this that brings the two of you closer. So just a word of warning - If that's really your question to us then it stops being about dreams and starts being about your wanting to be with her. Don't be misled by the dream's apparent message.

If that's not your question, then I would say talk about your dream(s) to anyone who you think will listen and hear their dreams too. Indeed simply listening without prejudice and feeding back non-judgmentally (i.e, don't give opinions) is a rich way of relating in my experience and will bring you closer to people in ways which pure sexual attraction fails to achieve.

That's heavy. wow! I didn't know what message it was sending. I don't think I would be very comfortable telling her right now in the immediate future because she'd probably I think I was a nut job or crazy. I respect her too much has a co-worker and a friend. Thank you for responding.

No problem. Didn't mean to be heavy. 'fraid it comes with habit and I don't know I'm doing it half the time :oops:

To me it seems as though you want to be with her; however, your scared about setteling down. The kitchen being a place that a domestic wife would normally be found, destroying it would be destroying the place your wife would be.

this is what I get from this anyways.

Thanks for the responses. She's with someone now and I did ask her out and she politely declined (that was back in February). We do remain close and she still comes to me for help. I just have to move on.
