The Empty Dreamscape

This just occurred to me while I was reflecting on recent dreams. In many of my dreams I am exploring an environment that is almost devoid of dream characters excepting myself, an antagonist, if one exists, and a companion if one exists, frequently I am alone. It is only when I have questions that dream characters manifest. Examples: kayaking down a river with my sister and we came to a water park, deserted of course; being pursued through an empty, underground airport terminal by a group of antagonists; fleeing zombies through a series of deserted stores in an abandoned city; passing through the city of the Ancients, the city of Demons, through the catacombs into Philadelphia with a friend and exploring each; and most recently exploring an empty saurian city on the moon, having been separated from my team.
