Question can anyone help with this one?

about 8 years ago I was with my ex husband and we were having alot of problems. I was working nights and he worked days. one day I was sleeping about a man I knew personally. I woke up and started crying and praying for god to show me the man I would spend my life with. when I fell asleep this is what I dreamed.
I was with a friend of mine named Sabien, He had taken me to a street race and I saw this guy from afar and I grabbed my friends arm and asked who he was. Sabien told me his name (to this day I can't remember the whole name all I remembered is that it started with an "A") I asked him to introduce me. so he took me over to his car and interdicted us. The guy gave me his number. when I woke up I could remember things I didn't remember dreaming like how he kissed, things he liked, and I could only remember that his name started with an "A".
Then a few months ago I had just left my second husband and got my own place, I had a dream that I was running in a park and I saw a man standing my a tree looking out at the water. as I neared him I slowed to a stop. when I stopped he turned to look at me and slowly walked up to me. He said "your Sarah" and I said to him "yes and your Adam" then he took my hand and I woke up. now same as before I remembered things that I didn't remember dreaming. His hair was longer and he was a journalist and he had a daughter he did not have in the first dream. when I'm in the dream it feels like I have found something that I have been missing my entire life, something that completes me. when I wake up at first I feel like pure happiness and completeness, then I feel sadness, and confusion. my question is am I dreaming of some man I am suppose to be with, or is it my spirit guide trying to tell me something, or is it just something in my head that I want a man like this?

You ask the right questions, angelmorn.

I'll answer as best I can based on personal experience, experience of others including in this forum and the theory which I think best explains what's going on - which is Jung's construct of the "animus". Lots of info about Jung and the animus/anima on the web if you google for it.

A man you're supposed to be with? No. I mean, I don't believe that you're dreaming about someone real here.

Spirit guide trying to tel you something? Don't know about "spirit guide" as that concept isn't in my language of understanding how these things work. But I do believe that every piece of information we glean from our dreams, fantasies and idle thoughts tells us more about what is going on in our unconscious (i.e. we're not aware of it).

Something in my head that I want a man like this? That's probably closest to my understanding. We search all our life for our dream lover but never find that person no matter how hard we try to impose other people into that mould.

He is your dream lover. Your personal dream lover. Enjoy him and look after him. The way he appears in your dreams gives you an indication of how your "other half" is behaving in your unconscious. Neglect him and he'll become a twisted and sexually unattractive person. People with a poor respect or fear of the opposite sex have recurring dreams of a witch or rapist or whatever.

It sounds like he appears when you need him most. I think this is normal as others have reported this and indeed that has been my experience (with a dream woman in my case). Remember he is a part of you and you can be all the things he represents, and feel more whole for the experience.

Well its clear that its much more likely to be something inside your head. When you had the first dream you were asking a wquestion. So to me thats a clear inidictation that your dream was telling you what you want to hear.
Dreams can countere balance real life. If in real life you feel especially sad then it may give you a dream that perks you up and that gives you a bit of momentum. In the later dream its a different guy.. showing that your thoughts about what a perfect guy is now changing.
I know when we ask for guidance I don't think it really works. I do believ in premonitions but I do not feel that we can call them at will.
