The dreamthat scares me

I dreamt that my sister in-law who died a few years ago gave me a black rectangular ring which I placed on my finger. Shortly after this dream I go t very sick. Does this mean I dremt my own death? :(

I would say you dreamed of your own death if you died, but you did not say you did.. Are you implying you believe dreams can be prescient?

First of all I do beleive dreams can be prescient. Do you?

That was my husbend's sister. I knew her for 30 years. She died in front me and my husbend of a heart attack in a middle of a coversation. The two of us got along ok.
I am 50 years old. I got cancer (soon after that dream) that spread to my liver.
After I woke up I was very sad because I had a feeling that that was a sign that I was going to die. I heard somewhere that it's not a good sign to take something from somebody who died (in your dream of course) or to take their hand and go with them when they call you. Also a black ring is not supposed to be a good sign, is it?

Typically taking things from the dead can be symbol of a latent deed or desire to have said or done something to the deceased - that you might have a deed you wish you had admitted to them, or some other form of guilt.

What does the ring mean to you? Can you try free association with it..?

Did you specifically register to Dream Views to have this dream analyzed..? Does it truly bother you greatly..?

It really has nothing to do with my religious believes. I registered to this site because it is of an interest to me fo many reasons not just this particular dream. It is just that this dream was one that had the most effect on me and yes it does bother me.
My sister in-law (the same one from the dream) told me a few days before she died that she had a dream that her father's grave (he died a month before her)opened up and her father waved with his hand for her to lie in a grave beside her. When she died her family had no choice but to put her in a grave beside her father (it was sudden) that was originaly kept for her mom when she dies (she is still alive and now they moved my sister-in law's body elsewhere (long story)).
I did not beleve in these dreams this way before but this one made think, was it just a coincidence or was there somthing more to it. Was it an intuition that showed in her dream or what? What do you think?

the problem with asking other people as to whether you should believe that your dream has soom deeper meaning (ie above and beyond strictly scientific), is that just as it is with all beliefs that cannot necessarily be proven, in the end you must decide whether or not you believe that this dream was precognitive in nature (as well as your sister-in-law's)...

this is not to say that we wont help you reach some sort of conclusion, or that we strictly remain in the scientific realm (as thats hardly the case), but rather, that ultimately, you are the one who must make this decision

...O'nus, perhaps the fact that she was told about the dream her sister-in-law had, when her subconcious had 'noticed' the large number of cancerous cells, it created a precog sort of senario, as the sub-con can detect these sort of ailments in ourselves long before any sort of medical practices can, and our sub-con is what produces our dreams, no? perhaps a bit far-fetched...i know you're more qualified than i am...what do you think?
