common but still confusing dream

ok so i usually give a lot of background but this is a short dream

so theres this guy (in my real life), who im guna call F. F is 2 years younger than me in my brothers grade (im a senior in high school, hes a soph with my bro) and ive known him for a year because weve been in plays together at his high school (its all boys so girls can do the plays). hes a little weird and kinda emo, doesnt eat all the time yet hes a little large, hates his family... so i pity him (silly me). i think he thinks that i like him but im pretty sure that i dont (ive kinda been trying to persue this other guy whos quiet and sweet etc). so heres my short-ish dream...

F and i were in the auditorium of his school during tech week (or the week before the show... ps- this is when the dream took place, about 3-4 days ago) and we were sitting on opposite sides of the auditorium talking to each other but not yelling, almost like we could read each others lips/minds as we talked normally to each other from like 50 feet away. then we hung out in the hallway as if we were bf/gf and then i believe he asked me out in a soft sweet voice (not really like him in real life). i said something witty, like a half-rejection, flirting, you know... and he kissed me on the cheek

that was a really weird dream. and i woke up with a happy feeling, like i FINALLY got a boyfreind... however, i dont like him. and i woke up feeling elated but so confused.

anything with this? thanks...

I think there are a few ways to read this dream.

I think the fact that the two of you were " on opposite sides of the auditorium" may be a sign that the two of you aren't close yet the fact that you could communicate so clearly with one another my be the dream trying to tell you that understand each other. Somehow even though you do not admire the traits he has, you feel you identify with them in some way.

The fact that you "hung out in the hallway as if we were bf/gf" could be a sign that there is a connection between the two of you that would make you genuinely happy, even if the relationship doesn't embody your idea of the ideal relationship. In a way, even though he may not have what you want in a boyfriend, he may have what you need.

The opposite is also possible. Maybe what brought you happiness wasn't that he gave you what you wanted, but maybe it was that you gave him what 'he' needed in the dream. (i.e. love) So making him happy is what made you happy. So you may find true happiness from making him happy.

Also, perhaps the dream is telling you that underneath his rough exterior is the soft compassionate personality your looking for in a b/f. He maybe your ugly duckling. Perhaps he hides an attribute that in the right angle could be appealing to you. He could be your beast (i.e. Beauty and the Beast) or your frog waiting to be kissed and turned into a handsome prince. I know these all sound cliché, but that's what your dream suggests to me.

It is also possible the dream is your own subconscious way of seeing the good in him.

The dream also may have nothing to do with him. It's also possible that the dream is about a trait he has which you identify with. It is possible, the archetype of him in your dreams is about the trait, not about him specifically. The dream may be telling you that incorporating that trait you see in him will complete you in some way making you more whole. This is represented by the fact that you perceived you were b/f and g/f in the dream.

hmmw ell the thing is, F is a friend. hes my brothers friend and we hung out durign the play. however, during the last week of the play this year i kinda liked this other guy and almost ignored F the whole week, even tho the week before wed been talking. i thikn F interpreted this (in real life) as i was playing 'hard to get' and therefore he tried to talk to me even more. i dont believe that i like him, i mean hes my brothers age and hes a tad immature even tho hes very intellectual and a good friend. but hes jsut a little weird, he tries too hard to get a girl... i dont like him, i thikn i just want to like someone and possibl cause i had been talking to him aalot my subconscious paired us up?

It's possible that you like him, but it's also possible that you don't. Liking him was only one possible interpretation. It's possible the dream meant you simply felt sorry for him; and making him feel better made you happy. Just because making him feel better made you happy doesn't necessarily mean you like him romantically.

The other possibility I noted was that your relationship with him in the dream could represent the union of two psychological traits you have; so it may have nothing to do with F. Instead F may represent a trait you have which you see in him.

Try this. If you were to describe F in one word what would that word be? What's trait describes him the best. That trait that you think of whether it's good or bad represents something you see in yourself. In a way he is your mirror reflection. So the dream may not be about you getting romantically involved with F. The dream may be about a union forming between whatever trait you see in F and yourself. Possibly a trait he has is rubbing off on you and the dream is pointing that out. The romance in the dream may be meant to show you that you are merging with that trait.

That was one of the other possible explanations I was trying to show you.

hmm well i suppose tha tone o fthe first things i would think of him is him being weird. i know that im weird so i dont think thats it.. and he is weird in the sense that hes just awkward to be aaround, but once you get to know him that weirdness isnt as pronounced. maybe thats it? idk..
