A Scotsman in the Midwest

I'm a late middle-aged Scot (really and in the dream)
I dream I've been conscripted into the US army and posted to a huge camp in the Midwest. My task seems to be pastoral care of young recruits. I'm upset to see them go off to war.
On leave I travel across the US and meet, on a bus, an old lady tourist. she tells me of visiting a tourist attraction - a house on an island where the house holds the crumbling island together. She doesn't enjoy the visit because of overflying helicopters.
I get home and take my family out. I meet an old friend who also seems to be a US veteran. I notice both of us have become white-haired. He invites me for a drink. I agree but later cannot find the bar. Then I become lost in an endless maze of corridors and rooms before waking distressed.
