Ok, so this is a really cracked out dream I had the other day. I dreamt I was walking down the street and stopped at a street corner where Tommy(Dennis Leary from Rescue Me) and his ex-wife were having a fight. They kept looking at me like I was purposely eavesdropping, so I ducked into the nearest building. I was inside an office where I knew everyone(in reality I know no one) and start chatting. As we're talking, a coyote runs by the back wall(which is completely made of glass). It looks right at me, and jumps through the glass as if there were none there at all. Everyone starts screaming and blaming me for bringing in the coyote. The screams frighten the animal away, but everyone is still mad at me. They tell me that they have no choice but to make me play "The Game" with a Japanese gang. There are two teams consisting of 3 members each. Each member has a remote(similar to a car's keychain remote) with one button in the center. Both teams sit on benches facing each other from opposite walls. Behind each team is a board with light bulbs(resembling a giant lite brite). Underneath the Japanese gang's bench is a traffic light that is only known by my team. Underneath my team's bench is a traffic light but it's got two of each color. The traffic lights flash, and each team must pay attention to the three colors: Red, Green, Yellow. The object is for each team member to hit their button at the same time on a color. The big lite brite boards I mentioned earlier have different patterns on them each round(like bingo cards). Each time your team hits their buttons at once on one color, a single light will light up in a random spot on the board. Your team tries to get three in a row(any which way) to win. If the round results in a tie(which often happens since it is basically a game of chance) there is a tiebreaker. There is a stand in the middle of the room full of weapons. Steak Knives to combat knives to katanas and huge swords. One member from each team will run to this stand and choose a weapon as quickly as possible to kill the other. My team tied many times, and each time I was sent out to kill. I won the tiebreaker rounds many times, but the only one I remember is the last one(I had already taken out the rest of the gang during previous tiebreakers). I run out to grab my favorite knife(I was partial to slitting throats at this point) only to find that my opponent had taken it(knowing I used it). He swings at me, so I grab the first thing my hand touches, a butter knife. I'm fending off his attacks while I search frantically for a better weapon. I grab a steak knife and figure that it's the best I'm gonna get. I manage to knock him to the ground and I start to slit his throat. Only thing is, my knife was pretty dull and I didn't get him very well, so I had to do it a second time applying more pressure. As I pull the blade out of his neck, I can feel his flesh sticking to it. Then I just sat there as he sputtered and choked. I think the scariest thing about the dream were the sensations I felt while having it. Triumph, Adrenaline, I could feel it all, which really scared me. I'm really confused. Could someone help me to understand a little better? If anyone needs any more information feel free to ask. Thanks. ^_^ |

Dream a little dream with me
I'm glad that people are taking this seriously. When I signed up to this community, I was under the impression that you posted your dreams and people helped you to decipher them, NOT INSULT THEM. It's really rude to mislead people like that. If I knew this was the reception I would get, I certainly wouldn't have wasted my time. |

Dream a little dream with me
I'm sorry about that then. I thought you were trying to be rude to me. lol. I had gone to another dream community before this one, and the moderator actually told me that "truthful dreams are short and symbolic"(basically calling me a liar). So sorry if I'm a little on my guard. I play video games, but I haven't played in quite a bit. Also, I can honestly say that I've never touched a drug in my life. I was pretty freaked out about this dream. That's why I've been looking all over for someone to help me with it. If you knew me personally, you'd know that I'd never hurt a fly. It felt really realistic too, pretty creepy. Like I found this on the web: |

Hi heXen, |

My guess is that this might be the answer. I don't know which games you played, but you might miss the sensations a bit, or at least your subconscious does ^^ |
|
I can see that, I used to play a lot. I was playing a game in the dream. One screwed up one, but still a game. |

While there is a tenuous correlation between the them, there is no proven cause-and-effect link between playing violent video games and having violent thoughts/dreams/tendencies etc. I can't for the life of me think why everyone always immediately assumes video games are the culprit behind everything violence-related. |

Yeah, I've never touched a drug in my life. Also, honestly, I don't play violent video games (when I do play). I play Smash Bros., Zelda, Mario Kart, Mario Party, etc. They're all pretty tame. The only reason I said I can see games having an effect is the fact that I was playing a game. I also agree that games should not shoulder the blame for violence/violent tendencies exhibited by people. |
|
I never ever said anything about screen violence causing real violence ^^, but I do think that it affects thinking a little bit. Not that people playing violent games start thinking "Well its not bad if I cut the head from someone off", but the creative thinking. |
