Deep into a dark forest-self interpretation

I keep track of my dreams, i have an excellent dream recall ability and i chose this specific dream to post because its both recent, and in my opinion, very interesting, specifically the way the interpretation works so fluidly with my current situation.

So, to begin with my real life situation. One of my good friend recently brought the value of our friendship on trial. She`s the current girlfriend of one of my best friend, and has been for nearly three year, time over which our relationship steadily improved, to the point where I considered her more than just the girlfriend of a friend, but as a friend on its own. To note, I have very few good friends of the opposite gender.

She is currently living with her boyfriend and his brother, im living with my sister. Both of those groups are living in the same city 4 hours from hometown to study. We were planning a weekend trip to go back home, a third friend, her and myself, with her as the driver. Alone or with that group, I had planned to go back home at that date for a long time ago to met up with another important group of friends to me.

The day prior the trip, a very minor arguing occurs between my friend and his girlfriend. She acts in a very irrational way, gets angry(this word does not express well just how mad she was about the situation). This fight includes neither the third friend, or myself.

Later that night, I get a call from my friend, curious about the whereabout of the girl. Apparently, after having calm down, she went away for 15 minutes, or so she said and she never came back. The day of the trip, I learn she went solo to our hometown, leaving both the third friend and myself.

Not to be outdone, both of us take the bus at a heavy monetary cost, and timely cost. The result of this being missing the said gathering of friends, which was planned for a very long time. Im not angry, but this is an unaceptable slap in the face, and because im stuborn, I wont let this slide, so I might just have lost a very good friend. im currently waiting to go back, and maybe have a confrontation. Im afraid I might overdo it.

Enough with the details of my life, and sorry if it bored you, but the dream im about to analyse to you is very heavly linked with the situation or so I believe.

The dream

Inside a dark forest.

I am situated in a dark forest. Dark dosenteven begin to describe the absence of light the forest itself encompass. One cannot discern where the trees ends in the sky and where the sky itself begin. Its completly black. The only light shinning here comes from the ground itself. Small spots of dark green difuse the only light, each spot being a few meter wide. (This forest is surreal, its a very beautiful place althought I certainly didnt pause myself in the dream to think this) On one of the pre-mentionned spot of greenish light, here gathers a party of agile beings preparing for a fight, or a hunt in the wildreness. I am rooting for this group, while bever really being one of the members, my cousiouness will shift through the multiple being at the gathering throughout the dream, as I often do in dreams. The main characters I incarnated in the dreams were the inexperienced, but skilled archer as well as the wisest and most experienced swordfighter. Also to note, the majority of the gathering is female, this include my two main charcters And nearly all are human for exception a few pets ill describe later.


The members are discussing about the worthiness of each of the members in the conflict about to happen, some members being thought of being too young to participate, not prepared for the grim nature of the small scale war about to happen. Some members have exotic pets accompgniyng them, such as bears an wild cats. One of thoses bear is an inteligent being, partaking in the organisation of the warparty. At this time, I dont know who is the ennemy, and I am envisionning the gathering with a third party view, I am no one. (While I actually remember the discussion, the actual words mentioned, I wont relate it here, this would be too long and is mostly trivial to the dream, the summary is enough)

The party disperse itself throughout the forest, their goal in mind. The fight begins. i shift through the different members, fight the fight. At first, and for a long time, the ennemy is generic. Evil looking, mean fighters. Win some, loose some. I finally get to the point where ill be with the two main character of the gathering. (From this point on, the dream will be more related to my situation but only with the analysis : P )

The young one, archer accompagnied by a big slim dark cat(nothing surreal here, except the actual size of the cat, about lion-sized). As the fight go, I begin to realize the nature of my ennemy, a living dead in a ghastly armour. Quickly moving through the trees, the ennemy is more than a match for the archer. She struggles to keep the odds even. She will finally manage to gain the upper hand, through an arrow she intercept from the ennemy(I am as in most my dream, the character but this is seen third person view) The bow being used is both a close combat weapon,and a bow.

I then shift to the experienced swordfighter. The weapon carried is very powerfull. Its two swords, emitting a very strong white light, lightning like. The weapon shift as needed, to a two-hander sword with the same propriety as the two swords. The fight is very hard, the hits I manage to get, bonce off the armour. The only part not armoured is the face of my ennemy. At this point, the forest seems slightly more swamp-like. The ennemy openly taunt me. Its yet again a living dead im facing.

The fight is very hard. My ennemy has a weapon with similar shifting quality to mine. The fight changes from the momment im able to seize his weapon, and wield it against the opening in his helm. Im able to wound him, but this should be a fatal wound, but it wind up being useless, since my ennemy is already dead : p. My ennemy explain this to me.

I wake up shortely after, because I reached a point of over-sleeping my needs (around 11 hours, a shame i know : p )

Now, the analysis. This was a nice dream, and as a bonus i was well rested after I woke up. I didnt started to analyse the dream. About four or five hours after waking up, the whole meaning of the dream occured to me.

Because im fighting the dead, I figured it meant there is something in my situation that is about to change. Because im fighting it, It means i choose to fight it, I dont assist passively to the change, and ill be taking part of the conflict to come. The ressillience of my ennemy pictures how she cares little of the outcome.

So basicly, I am the gathering, shes the ennemy. While there is something that is lkely to change, I force it by fighting.
