      Cool symbolism in Dreams

I recently had a dream in which my daugher opened her mouth and a snake was coming out. It was vivid colours yellow and green and it was slithering through a milky substance from her throat and mouth. In the dream I reached out to grab it and pull it out - the snake backed down her throat and she closed her mouth. This is the first dream such as this I have had. I am trying to interpret it. My partner believes the snake represents truth and trust or evil being expelled ... what ideas do you fellow dreamers have??

Honestly, In my opinion, if dreams do have meanings, then only the person that had the dream can really figure it out. It could be any number of things, including but not limited to what you listed.

Mabye you're worried about your daughter or her actions? Mabye it has nothing to do with your daughter, but instead the youth currently around you? The snake has plenty of psychological meanings, try finding them yourself.

I agree. I think only the dreamer him or herself can correctly interpret dreams.

I believe it's pretty common that our worries reflect in our dreams one way or another. Do you think that she's hiding something... troubles, whatever and isn't able to tell you? Negative images such as a snake in your daughter's mouth gives me the impression that you feel so. Along with the fact that you put the daughter has secret no able to share as the first pool option and in italic letters.

Unless you believe that dreams hold some sort of supernatural universal connection between souls, I'd say that this only reflects what you think is going on with your daughter and so only you can answer your own question. But also note that humans do have some sort of empathic abilities on a certain subconscious level, so don't discard the fact that you might be sensing your daughter's distress even if you are a hard-core realist.

This is how I see it.

In my experience with snakes in dreams (I've had a lot of them), they've been more symbolic of Men in my life. Though not necessarily sexual, just the influence and existence of some kind of male influence or power.

Don't know if that relates to your dream about your daughter, just thought I'd share another snake symbol.

I didn't participate in the poll because none of the answers seemed right.
How old is your daughter? What were the emotions SHE was conveying in the dream when the snake was coming out of her mouth?
      Are you religious?

To me, the snake represents lies. I think of Satan in the Garden of Eden. Perhaps you make a similar connection?

If the snake started coming out whenever she started speaking, it could reveal you don't trust what she tells you. That, to me, is the most simple and basic of interpretations. But... what do snakes represent to YOU? How is your life right now? What are you going through with your daughter?
Also to consider... what books have you read recently, shows you have watched etc which may have featured a snake?
Sometimes our dreams don't have a profound interpretation but are rather a hodge-podge of experiences that our brain throws together in unusual ways.

Yeah I agree. Snakes (in my opinion) represent evil, fear, lies, or misunderstandings..Because most people think that snakes are bad (in actual life) so they kind of misunderstand them.
I think that if it came out of her mouth maybe you don't like the way she speaks to you? Or speaks in general.

OR your dream is being very autobiographical and is saying that you don't like the way you speak to yourself or others. Or (sorry for all the "ors") it could be a metephor about the lies people tell themselves.

      Just throwing some ideas around...

Well, I'm definitely not a professional or anything, but I've always seen the snake as a sign of temptation, lies, and distrust. There are loads of dream interpretation sites, you should enter one key word of this dream (snake, mouth,...,) at a time along with the words 'dream meaning' into the google searchbar, that's how I always get my dream interpretations.

      good luck

I haven't voted as I believe it represents none of the above. I think it shows something you subconsciously dislike about your daughter - perhaps a bad habit or something. The snake symbolizes this. It rises from your daughter and remains there worrying you (showing that you feel anxious about it - suggesting it is a habit), and it is connected to her (suggesting a habit that is hard to get rid of) and you can't pull it out of her (get rid of it, as it crawls back inside her).

Interpretations are guesswork so you shouldn't take offence by this.

I had a dream the other night where their were two snakes in my room, one ate the other and then I had to rip the snake out of the throat of the other and give it mouth to mouth...

      P.S. I don't hate or fear snakes.

You do not report what were your feelings in the dream. Seeing
a snake provkes some kind of feeling. Instead you pay attention to
its colors. Maybe it was not as threatening, in this case it could
relate to wisdom, maybe wisdom that comes from the heart, one
that you treasure inside but reluctant to share. The daugther in
this case is you with the gift of wisdom that needs devlopement
      and nurturing.
Do you always speak from the heart and share your true feelings
or you tend to rationalize them?

      just few thoughts...

funny the song 'true colors' pops in my head right now... maybe it's related

Well yes - dreams can only really be interpreted by the person who has the dream. The dream COULD have several meanings. It could link to something she says or does... evil thoughts and feelings... just bad negative emotions

It could be about something that is actually happening but could so easily have been triggered from something inside your own mind .. a paranoia...

But really my best guess is that you have heard her say something and judged her badly for it... maybe a swear word.

the dream mind instead uses a situation involving a struggle. Instead of using the phrase "closer and closer" the dream mind instead uses the symbol of golf where the object is to get closer and closer to some eventual aim (to pot the ball).

Instead of trying to interpret your dreams just go to your own conceptual feelings and then see what recent thoughts could feature in your reams. Say some argument or situation from the day before. Maybe your dream could link to some task or issue about to be faced on the actual day of the dream?

Well, many of the people here are right. Dreams can only be interpreted by the person who had the dream. I will tell you that I don't really believe in dream interpretation because there's so much symbolism involved. Being that as it is, I enjoy it, and I like to help people with it. I'm usually right. . All joking aside, I'm not a professional, I've been interpreting dreams for three months now. Either way, I feel I have a knack for it.

I'm going to offer a more abstract interpretation here than usual.

Alright, the snake is not necessarily a bad thing. In older times, it was often seen as a symbol of wisdom. Anyways, it could mean that you are receiving new insight to a problem, or that you have just uncovered new feelings from somebody. The fact that it comes from your daughter could mean that she's involved with it, or that it simply came from a surprising source. Thoughts?

How did you feel about this whole situation in the dream? Were you scared of the snake? Disgusted? Was your daughter afraid? Defensive? Indifferent? Examining what you felt towards your daughter and the snake, and how your daughter acted, might help you decide what it means to you.

Although I agree it is up to you alone to din any meaning out of your dreams I will offer my 2 cents. It sounds to me like some sort of transformation. I think that is the major theme here. As for the snake I personally don't see that as an omen or anything negative. I noticed you used the word 'partner' in your original post. Perhaps the bright colors of the snake have some thing to do with orientation, whether yours or your daughters.
