Thread: My Son's Dream

Not going to lie, Badger, but aside from the net and being eaten, sounds like the bible's description of the apocolypse and the riders who will come forth on judgement day.

There are a couple things you can do.

One option, is to not take it seriously. It was just a dream, nothing more than a 12 year olds over active imagination and dramatization of a couple scary movies. Muda, useless, nothing more than a regular nightmare.

Or, you could take it seriously. What could this dream mean, from HIS point of view, the world view could mean something on a grand scale, maybe a premonition of some kind. Possibly a smaller yet still country sized view of the world.

This should be in the dream interpretation section.

I went ahead and moved this to dream interpretation, where it should get some more attention from people who know about such things.

I am always terrible at interpreting other peoples dreams. Did your son give you any hint of what he thought it might mean? Seems like a good opportunity to see how things are going in his life, in general. Sometimes disturbing dreams are just remnants from a movie, book, or videogame. Other times they come from some deeper stress. 12 is a hard age for almost everyone.

I've had quite a few of those dreams. One of the first dreams I remember from 10-11 years ago was from that little kid's hercules movie (what a nightmare, terrified the .... out of me the first time I had it, second tim ... not so much.) In fact I had one last night with that Carla lady from Burn Notice...

Anyway scarrrrrrrrrrry dreams like that are common.

Interpreting dreams is tenuous enough when they're your own. Very difficult when they're someone else's. Harder still when they're third-hand. Dream interpretation certainly is most effective when there is some engagement between the dreamer and the interpreter.

I would encourage you to take the interpreter's role here, if you wish to work with your son on this dream. Happy to point you in the right directions.

This dream does indeed sound apocalyptic, as has been suggested earlier. But whether its your son's way of contemplating what the end of humanity might be like or whether it is symbolic of something else going on in his life (e.g. fear of a teacher) can only be speculation on my part.

I use to have dreams like that when i was 10. I would dream the world would end via different means. I think it's normal. At least he has you to cuddle up to. I had nobody

Has he seen anything about armeggedon? If you guys Christian, did you read Revelations? That sounds sort of like revelations : /

Editx2: I never have dreams like that. I just have dreams where there is a huge earthquake and the world is coming to an end when I am graduating in 2012. That must be horrible. I think the only real nightmare I had was when I was 4

I too think it's nothing to special. When I remember, most of my dreams when I was about that age and younger were nightmares or at least freaky, eerie, not to positive dreams. Many were about the world ending, including alien invasions and chocolate tornadoes. Not much that can be done when dreams are the problem. I guess all you can do is the traditional "Don't worry too much, it's only a dream" or perhaps some Lucid Dreaming tips like "Take control, since it's your dream...".

My first reaction is that the man in your son's dream probably represents someone he knows, that he is afraid of.

either that or he has feelings of fear and they are being expressed this way in his dream as an actual man coming to kill everyone.

I had a lot of dreams about my loved ones being killed or kidnapped/disappearing when I was younger, too. I think it's a common emotion for children to be afraid of this as it's something they don't really understand until they're older.

I'd be interested in seeing some of those symbols... Sounds like a profetic dream to me.

Yes, well I don't belive in prophetic dreams too much. But interpreting the symbolism. The bald man represents Evil. The fact he is short could mean something that is overlooked about him, or that he is overlooked. The lion represents a cult or Diety of some sort. In many ancients religions lions were held with great esteem. So it could represent a particular Cult trying to "cast a net over the world" Or gain control of the world. To me it sounds like a prediction of what some conspiracy theorist talk about... the coming of the new world order.

The people dying is again a Symbolic thing. That could represent peoples basic freedoms taken away. The Lion eating the people could represent the cult feeding off of the fear from people to control them and turn them into Zombies. Like a mass hypnosis of mankind.

There, that's my take on it.
