Two different dreams where i kill dogs?

I love dogs, but in the past week or two ive had two separate dreams where i stab dogs.

The first one was a somewhat big black dog, maybe a chocolate lab or doberman or something but im not sure. I remember knowing that he was dying a painful death and had to be put out of his misery, so i stabbed him. im not sure if he actually died but i know i stabbed deep a few times, definitely enough to kill it in real life. there was some but not much blood. Also i was crying during most of the dream but my eyes werent wet when i woke up.

The second one was actually my dog, a mini dachshund. it was pretty much the same scenario except i recognized the room i was in, the family room of my house. Ive been away at college since september and ive only been home for 5 or 6 weekends and winter break which was a month long (i dont know if this is important info for a dream like this, i love being home but i dont miss it per se). I again knew she was dying anyway so i had to stab her to relieve the pain. This time, however, i stopped and decided to hope she would live through it. And again, i was crying most of the time in the dream.
