      Hidden meaning? Help please

      Hi all,
Ive just signed up here and am asking for advise for my mum. To cut it short we lost my dad at the end of January. My mum has had various 'experiences' but a dream she had last week is really affecting her. She dreamt that she was sitting on a bench with an old friend of my dads, she could hear church bells ringing in the background and my dads friend had his arm draped over the bench though not around her. As she looked up my dad walked past about 20ft away carrying a bag. He glanced over, as anybody walking past might do and he carried on walking. The next day she was on a bus that was very special to my dad (he drove them for a living) with some of his work friends. The man she dreamt of was there and asked her to sit next to him. He draped his arm over the back of the seat (which is similar to a bench as its a very old bus). Then they drove past a church and the bells were ringing. She has been bothered by this ever since. Could it have been coincidence, premontion or a message from dad??? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

What a moving dream and spooky coincidence. I'm sorry to hear about your dad I'm terrible with interpreting these things. Maybe your mom feels a connection to this friend, since he was close with your father. Have they had a chance to talk and share stories about your dad? It sounds like he could be a good source of support, and your mom senses it on a subconscious level.

Let me know if you want me to move this to the Dream Interpretation forum. It might get a better response.

That would be great if you think it would get a better response, thank you!! No, she barely knows my dads friend. Has only met up with various friends of my dad socially since his death. She is freaked by it though. Thanks for replying x

      hm

The friend of the dad knows about something she doesn't so she should talk to him, the bag symbolizes something, if you knew what kind it was, how big it was, etc, it would be a pointer

I think the bag signifies a journey, as in he is packed to go somewhere, it might not be a literal vacation, but perhaps also the arm draped back signfies he is relaxed about it, i also think the bus signifies he is going somewhere. Some sites suggest that church bells means that you will under go a spiritual journey. (in real life they signfy that the time has come to go to mass)
But do not forget that dreams are personal and sometimes hard to decifer because you or your mother might know things about this person that we the readers are not privy to.
Maybe your mum should contact this friend and have a chat with him see how he is going, maybe it would put your minds at ease.

OK, don't freak out over this but church bell also ring solemnly at funerals. I agree with VerucaPink. Your mom should call and talk with your dad's old friend. She might be subconsciously worried about him.

      Predictive dream

Maybe, it is not necessary so to complicate. This typical predictive dream. It had come true on the next day.
      Compare it:
old friend of my dads – some of his work friends
his arm draped over the bench - his arm over the back of the seat
church bells ringing - and the bells were ringing

And this coincidence had affecting her. It happens as rule.

Thank you all for your replies. Mum seems to have calmed down a bit now. I mentioned talking to Dads friend but she is stubborn and said he wouldnt know anything. You know mums, they're always right lol. The bag in her dream was slighlty bigger than the one he used to wear yrs ago as a bus conductor. She has had nothing since so maybe it was predictive. Who knows! She has had a few 'experiences' where she has felt dads presence so maybe this is linked. My dreams of my dad stopped when i asked him for time out to get my head together and miraculously they did!

There's no doubt that dreams like this go as quickly as they come. But during such times they can affect us in more ways than we would have imagined. And sorry to hear about your father too.

Personally I don't believe in any psychic qualities of dreaming, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. I do, however, believe that we know more than we think, though, and your Mum could be quite in tune with people like this man without realising it.

Some say that dreams often represent wishes. Perhaps there was something about this man that your mother needed at that time? Possibly you'll never know and likely she won't either owing to it coming from the unconscious.

Personally I welcome these sorts of dreams as I feel close to people afterwards. But I know others find them a nuisance as their affects get in the way of what we might call a normal daily life. Depends what we want, really.
