      Magic and Flying

      Hello all,

I've been a DreamViews member for several months, but don't post regularly. I had a dream last night, that if anyone could help interpret I would appreciate. I'll give some background info first...

I'm an amateur magician, trying my hand at some new kinds of magic. In the last month or so, I've done one hospital show for the children's ward, and have more shows lined up in the coming weeks. I'm starting to feel okay about doing this new magic. Well, last night I had a dream that felt okay, too. Sort of. Here's the dream...

I must have been on stage performing magic. That's where I remember the dream starting. But then this lady was going to start doing some large stage illusions, and I was going to help out. I was going to be her assistant~! Me, and another man. The illusion was that she was going to stab us in the chest with a large sword and place us in a box with black velvet sheets. (I don't know what was supposed to happen after that)

First she stabbed the other man, and he stood in this box, acting dead. Then she was going to stab me, but it was taking a really long time. In fact, I was doing a routine with her involving a sword of my own. But when the time came for her to stab me, I was nervous. I knew the sword would not really pierce me, but I was still nervous. When she stabbed me, I saw how the sword actually worked. Then I pretended to fall to my death. Afterward, she placed me next to the other man in this box, and I continued to act dead. At some point, she came close to us and whispered instructions to us, but I can't remember what they were.

It felt like I was standing in this box for a really long time, and I had the urge to open my eyes. So I did, and the man next to me got irritated by that, I think. Because the next thing I remember, he had a real sword and was going to stab me! Now he was mad! In fact at one point he did stab me, and the sword penetrated my skin a small bit, but didn't really hurt. Then he stopped.

Some time later, there was a little girl. 10 years old, maybe? I get the impression she was the man's daughter. I was going to take her flying to the moon. I was going to fly like Superman. Not an illusion, like David Copperfield, but really fly! I remember seeing the earth from the moon, but I don't think we were on the moon yet. It must have been a picture of what we would see when we got there. We were able to see where on the earth we came from.

Then, I picked her up in my arms and gracefully, oh so gracefully, flew out this big door (think warehouse shipping garage door type). My feet left the ground so smoothly and we were in the air maybe 15 feet. I flew for about 50 feet before having trouble staying in the air. Again, gracefully, I started to descend toward the ground, while still moving forward. Eventually, I landed. Placed the girl safely on the ground and lay down as if I was going to die. I remember attributing this to the sword the man had pierced me with. Then the girl was sad and getting help. Her dad, the man who pierced me with the sword, was there to help, and he felt very bad. He was sad, also. I think they wanted me to be able to fly again.

And that's all I can remember. I'd appreciate an interpretation if one can be made. Thanks!

      What does flying mean?

No one is interpreting dreams I have submitted in the "Dream Interpretation" sub forum, so I thought I'd ask my question here, as well as point to the original post.

Does anyone know what flying means in dreams? These are non-lucids. The dream I am inquiring about can be viewed here. Thanks.

I would assume a sense of freedom.

Here are some quotes from a bunch of dream dictionaries.

To dream that you are flying, signifies a sense of freedom where you had initially felt restricted and limited.
Flying dreams are normally a good omen and if the flight is pleasant, with no worries and anxieties, you can look for happiness and plenty to follow.
      * Transcendence over your challenges or the mundane
      * Freedom (or a wish for it) from the limitations of your own mental, emotional, and physical challenges—freedom that is available by connecting with your inner joy, love, and Spirit
Flying in a dream is a fairly common, but very powerful event. Flying events seem to be divided among those who fly spontaneously in their dreams and those who have a lucid dreaming event and choose to fly. In either case, the dreamers report powerful feelings of freedom in the flight.

Why did you create a thread solely to link back to another thread?
