Any Interpretations on Meaning, Please?

I feel like I needed to post this somewhere. I couldn't find the right subforum to put this in, so I hope this is the right spot.

Recently, I've been really tired. Today I fell asleep at 5pm (17:00) reading a book. I slept for about two hours. I had a very realistic dream which I am troubled by the possible meaning.

I will explain my dream thoroughly before explaining the person who was involved:

In my dream I woke up to my cellphone ringing. I was on my bed and the phone roused me from my sleep. I picked up and on the other end was a friend. I'm going to call him John. Basically, John and his girlfriend wanted to do hang out with me. While they were deciding together what we should do I was quickly falling back asleep while remaining conscious to the fact that he was still on the other end. I knew that I would fall asleep and that he would be stuck waiting on the other end without me. I was powerless to my sleep. It almost felt like sleep paralysis within a dream.

When I woke up (this time for real) from my dream, it was because someone was calling my cellphone. Since the dream was so real I thought it was John calling me back, but it was my mother.

The reason this dream is so troubling, is because of what John means to me. He is a friend, but not just any friend. I consider him, along with another person, my best friend. In fact, John and I are more than friends. I am a bisexual male. I've had a huge crush on John for as long as I've known him, or just about as long. I had been getting mixed feelings about if he liked me or not. Eventually - very recently I came out and admitted that I liked him. He admitted that he was also bisexual, and that he liked me back. We have yet to do anything together.

What does this dream mean?! Am I growing aloof to him? Is it something I cannot stop? Will we drift apart? Will it be my fault?

Well, the problem here seems to be less about your and John's sexual orientation, than about the fact that he's already in a relationship with a girlfriend, so a third person needs to be considered. You seem to be, in the dream, maybe falling back to sleep or paralyzed because you must be aware of this! She has feelings. She has a relationship with John. You are the third wheel here. Is that what role you want to play, really? It is up to the two of them to decide if their relationship is monogamous, and if it is, it's up to you to respect that choice, and not insert yourself and cause problems for them. Falling asleep within the dream is symbolic usually of being unconscious about something, and here, that seems to be their relationship. Unless John breaks up with her, I'd say look elsewhere for a relationship.
