Thread: Dying Dream

I just recently woke up from this dream, and am desperately searching for answers, or even some mention of these feelings I experienced by other people. I do not really know what to make of it, it was the most intense and frightening dream I have ever had.

For most of the night, I had several unrelated dreams that I cannot remember. This dream starts out as me and someone I do not know presently, but seems to be a good friend at the time of the dream. It is night and raining, and we are driving down a large stretch of dark highway, we seem to be the only car on the road. I think we are coming back from a concert. In the distance, on the horizon in the front of us, all of a sudden we see all sorts of what at the time I think are meteors. I was like "Look, those are so beautiful! I haven't seen a meteor shower in years!" There seems to be quite a few though and they were getting very fast and bright. My friend seems to start panicking and notices large,large,large amounts of smoke on our left side in the horizon. She asks me to look, and I see it and blow it off.. "Oh, I think its just a fire. No need to panic. Look at this meteor shower!" All of a sudden everything slowed down and I saw this meteor fall slowly way in the distance in front of me. Then I just felt this rush on my body, enveloping my senses. I hear music, but not really music. Almost like a beautiful static sound. I have been hypnotized several times in real life, and the only description I have about the bodily feeling I had at this time was the calm of being hypnotized magnified by like 100 million times. I knew at this time I was dying. My body was pulsating, but I refused to die. I keep repeating, "Chris,Chris,Chris. I can't die, I want to see Chris. I haven't said goodbye." Chris is my current boyfriend in life. I was holding onto every strand of reality that I could because of this. The only sight I could see was like a swirl, there really wasn't any sight, anything visible, but it wasn't dark. Just emptiness. I just cannot describe the peace that was over me, especially in my body. I felt a feeling like falling. Then I struggled to wake up and grasp the real reality. I really, really,really thought I had died when I woke up. I was in bed alone (Chris is out of town for business) and it was raining and completely dark, so it took several minutes to come out of the dream and realize that I was alive. When I awoke, I was covered in sweat (it is snowing here and my house was FREEZING), my body was tingling like it does whenever I come out of hypnosis and remained with this feeling for almost 20 minutes. My heart was beating sooo fast and it was very tight and hurt for quite awhile after the dream.

I just don't know what to make of this. I read alot of places online that say that to dream of dying is a sign that a major change in your life is about to take place. But I just cannot describe the feeling that took over me while this was happening, I was wondering if this had happened to anyone else (I know it has to of) and what they made of this. It was just so life-like (or should I say death-like, haha).. I called my mother immediately afterward to describe the dream to her, she is a major spiritualist and very much believes that your spirit can travel during your dreams. She was just so so so happy that I experienced this and was almost jealous of what she described as my visit with God. For the record I am agnostic, have not thought of death in any way for quite some time before this dream and when I went to sleep I wasn't upset about anything or had any major life problems troubling me. Any answers? Thanks!
