Little Girl's Dream

If a little girl had asked you what her dream meant, what would your response be? This isn't to be an accurate interpretation, it's just really to see how you interpret it, either what it means to you, or how you would interpret it in the little girl's eyes - whatever you please.

This is actually my dream, but I have views about the past and the future, from moment to moment we change subtly, but over months or years I believe we turn into completely different people (at different paces at different times of their lives for different people, of course). So I consider the child me to be another person from who I am now, thus why I refer to her as little girl.

This little girl was between six and eight years-old. In her dream, she was playing the role of a different little girl, not blond haired like she was while awake, but brown haired like the girl she was playing the role of in the dream. The mum in her dream was not her mum, but the brown-haired little girl's mum.

The little girl felt everything the girl she was playing the role of felt, she was essentially her. Even right down to her feelings towards her mum.

Her mum was scary. She threw things and swore a lot. She told her little brown-haired daughter that she hated her. She drank too... a lot. She always smelled of 'adult juice'. But despite how much she hated her daughter, her daughter looked up to her as the only parental figure she had. Her mum was scary... but she was still her mum.

Her house was filthy and she hated that. It made her feel sick, but she dealt with it the best she could. From outside, it was a regular semi-detached, though I don't recall where I've seen it from or if I've ever seen it.

Then the men and women came to take her away. I remember, the little girl I was, playing the role of this emotionally abused child being taken away by these strangers. Mum in the dream didn't do anything. The little girl became hysterical, screaming, kicking, grabbing hold of her mum who just glared back and said nothing as the men and women pried the little girl's hands away. The little girl felt like she was about to lose the only person in the world she cared about, the only person in the world who returned that care, even if it was between binges of anger and selfishness.

The little girl was stuffed into a black vehicle. Her mum stood at the top bedroom window just staring. The little girl screamed and banged on the windows wet and muffled "Don't leave me mummy! Don't leave me!" before the vehicle pulled out onto the road and the dream ended.

The feeling of abandonment was unbelievable. I won't ever be able to forget it.


Some background on this little girl (me as a kid, not the girl she played in the dream): She was raised into a very loving, even if dysfunctional, family. It was a bit broken up, but there was never any abuse. They drank responsibly and carefully. They watched their mouths and only swore on an accidental basis, often resulting in a *gasp* from her and "OOOOOH You said a bad word!". She never felt neglected in the sense that she never felt she was unloved, even if she was very under stimulated and overly sheltered.

She was kept away from 'bad' things. She didn't watch any over-age-rated movies and she liked to watch cartoons, not live action. Her living conditions very always very clean.

Her mum was kind and loving, and she knew her mum would never do anything to hurt or abandon her. She never insulted her, never told her she hated her, and worked hard to keep them together and fed and clothed. Nobody in her family did, they were all kind.
