hi all :) i'm starting a dream journal here, and i will also be writing my dreams down in a physical dream journal, but i think it will help me and encourage me to write them down if i do it here as well. i'll start by describing last night's dreams, what i can remember of them. i remembered more when i woke up of course, but since i didnt write them down right away (bad me), theyve faded some.

April 3, 2005

last nights dreams: there were two that i can remember-one that went on for a long time, but what i can remember of it is me being in a car with a couple of guys who'd just robbed a bank or done some other kind of illegal thing. one of them had a gun and was pointing it at me even tho i seemed to be in on the robbery with them. i felt no fear tho, whether this is because i like guns or not, i have no idea :P it gets foggy here but i think we somehow crashed into a lake.

the next bit i remember is being at a big dinner, like a thanksgiving dinner with lots of different dishes, with perhaps 12 people, but i dont know who any of them were. it was like i had been gone and arrived at the dinner late-i tried to serve myself (i remember one dish was mixed vegetables, another was Stove Top stuffing) and when i looked in the dishes, the food that was there was suddenly gone, and i was very angry with everyone for not saving any for me! then everyone stood up, and i looked to the head of the table, and Woody Allen was standing there. if anything, that should have made me realize i was dreaming, grr. anyways he was holding a dictionary and saying it was some sort of game where he reads a word and then each of us takes turns, saying what the word means. as soon as one person gets it right, he moves to the next person. i remember being excited and wanting to go first, thinking "i can do that, i'm good at that!" lol.

anyways thats all i remember. i will try to write down any dreams i have, right when i wake up, so i can remember more detail.

NOTE: i just want to mention that i had a flying dream a few nights ago and i think thats important because for me flying dreams and lucid dreams are somehow connected, not sure if its like that for other people. in fact i think of my flying dreams as sort of very low level lucid dreams. in that dream which was baout three nights ago, i dreamt i was flying around San Francisco. i had gone to sleep that night trying to practice WILD, and i think it partially worked, because i wouldnt have thought to try to fly in my dream if i wasnt aware at least on some level, that i was dreaming. at one point while flying, i started to sink slowly, and i was over the San Francisco Bay, and my toes actually dipped in the ice cold water, and it felt sooo real. i cant wait to have a flying dream again, i had lots when i was a kid, and loved them :)

*edited to add that ive been interested in lucid dreams off and on since having one when i was a kid that made a big impression on me: i was walking down a street in my neighborhood (not sure how old i was, maybe 7?) when i suddenly just out of the blue, realized i was dreaming. i decided i wanted to make all the houses change colors-and as i thought that-they did! i skipped down the street feeling incredibly happy, as all the houses changed from blue to green to red to yellow to orange to purple as i walked by them. as anyone who's had a lucid dream knows, the feeling is amazing and really hard to describe. i've tried explaining it to my boyfriend, because he wants to know why i'm interested in lucid dreams, and i explain it but it always feels like he just doesnt quite get it. he says "oh..that sounds cool then". if he only knew how fun it was... 8)

at any rate, its only in the last week or so that i've gotten interested in lucid dreams again, and am using various techniques to try to have one. i consider the flying dream a good sign tho :)

I Dreamed That I Had A Lucid Dream?

i had the strangest dream last night....i'm not sure if i had a lucid dream or that i dreamed that i did. i remember suddenly being in a field, and thinking that i was dreaming, but it didnt feel like normal reality, everything had a sort of underwater quality, and it was really hard for me to walk or move, it felt like there was a force preventing me from moving or doing anything..even walking took great effort. the quality of the dream was strange, the field had these dead trees in it and everything seemed to have a dark haze over it and look sort of acidy-like the way vincent van goghs paintings look. i then came across a woman and i asked her how old she was and she said mid twenties. i tried to kiss her but again, it was like i just didnt have much control over my own body, and i just sort of brushed against her, and then she disappeared, and the dream went into non lucidity. the next part i remember is being on a beach i used to go to as a child, and there were whales jumping out of the water, and i kept wanting to take a picture of them, but i could never get my camera up at the right moment, and kept missing it. but the part where i was in the field...it was vaguely unpleasant, where the lucid dreams ive had have all been happy and positive. i remember when i was reaching for the girl tho, i clearly remember thinking that this is a dream so if i want to kiss her i can kiss her (tho i dont know why i wanted to, to be honest). the odd thing is i kind of think that i DREAMT that i had a lucid dream. is such a thing even possible?

at any rate i'm encouraged in general, because the concept of lucid dreams went into my dreamstate. before i went to sleep i thought "i WILL have lucid dreams tonight, i'm going to and its going to be rteally cool" and i really believed it, i think that had some effect.

this afternoon i took a nap with the tv on-it was tuned to a program about ghosts-and i had a somewhat scary dream about-ghosts, of course :shock: i was in this hotel, seated at the bar, when someone told me that the portraits on the wall were haunted and if i took a picture of one, antoher face would appear in my picture. i remember feeling vaguely nervous, but i took the picture, and it popped up instantly in my hand (there was some odd thing about having to pay to take a picture) and it was a different person, and i got scared and showed someone else, and the next thing i knew two beefy security guards came and got me and hustled me out of there, at that point i was really scared, but once i got outsite the dream changed to something else, something about me walking around a swimming poool wanting to dive in. there was also a bit where i think i almost became lucid, i suddenly found myself at the entrance to a basement, laying down, with just a bit of light coming from a crack under the door, scared but trying to stay calm, and i remember somehow thinking "its a dream and it will pass if i stay calm" but obviously i didnt become fully lucid or i would have been able to say hey theres nothing nto be scared of, and find my way out.

anyways thats my dream report for last night..going to try again tonight to have a lucid dream. btw i think the sound from the tv, being set to the ghost show, influenced my dreams..this has happened numerous times, and really makes me want to try recording a cd that says "your dreaming" to play when i go to sleep....i dont know where to get something like that tho...

Unhurried FIremen

dreamt that i was swimming in a brown lake, wondering why it was brown (obviously not wondering enough to realize it was a dream :/) then the dream changed and i was in my moms house. i was cleaning, using a broom to sweeb behind the fridge, when suddenly the grates or whatever those things are that are on the back of refregerators, heated up and glowed red like stove coils...i suddenly worried about fire and then of course, there were sparks suddenly, it was like when cleaning i bumed a piece of cardboard and it laid against the hot coil (why there would be a hot coil on the back of a fridge is anyones guess) and then suddenly there was black smoke and i was scared, seeing my house was on fire. i went to my moms phone, managed to dail 911 (i remember it was really difficult), got on the phone with the 911 operator and said in a really scared voice "my house is on fire" and the woman said in a really bored tone "okay, we'll be there in about an hour". and i thought -thats too long! and i go "an HOUR?" and she goes "ok, we'll be there in a few minutes". i hung up the phone and next thing i knew the firemen were there. one wanted to lead me downstairs to see about something in my basement that i had to fix so the fire wouldnt come back (why dont these nonsensical type of dream situations ever clue me in that im dreaming??)) and just then my bfs phone rang and woke me up.

that was last night.... not much luck lately, not even close to being lucid, no false awakenings, and with WILD i get stuck at the beginning of the dream imagery..i never see more than a few fleeting images. i just cant seem to get to the next step, the one where you see full scenes and are then pulled into the dream.

gahh it happened AGAIN! i didnt get much sleep last night, so this morning i woke up, went out and did some errands, came back, sat on the bed and started to watch tv...and i fell asleep, with the tv up. i dreamt this wierd dream of detectives questioning me about a gas leak, apparently there were gas explosions going on everywhere and they needed my help..the whole dream was about gas explosions ect. i wake up a bit later and whats on tv-a program on the national geographic channel about a gas explosion in mexico! gah..this is why i really need a cd that says "youre dreaming..youre dreaming" for me to play as i go to sleep. im fairly certain it would work, i just dont know where to get one :/
