Scream & Dream Scapes
I've tried to keep dream journals for many years, but I always end up becoming frustrated with their upkeep. After a while, when dream recall becomes sharper, the journal entries get longer and longer. Making an entry begins to feel more like a chore than something I originally looked forward to.
This time around, I decided to try to sketch out the skeleton of a dream. I decided to write 16 lines or less/dream as a way of forcing myself to keep journal entries from becoming pages long. I know that I risk losing a potentially small but important portion of a dream...but I hope that the short version of a dream will help me to later recall the full dream (more or less)

JULY 1/05
Seer
Sometimes friend.
Sometimes foe.
The ever seeing eyes
Stare me to despise.
Ever love.
Ever loath.
Illusionary lies
Prejudice your eyes.

Voice
Cherubs watch me stonily
From sockets yawning wide.
Delapitated faces
Creak on either side.
Swallowed by a dungeon.
Translucent voice does rise.
"Who are you?" I stammer.
"Angel," it replies.

The Taken
Cornered by the beast,
A mother slinks away.
Offspring weep and wimper
As beast eclipses day.
From the endless highway
A savior halts the hours
To snatch away wee spirts
Before the beast devours.

#1-Sacrifice
A passage, wild and weedy,
Winds towards white house
Where in a wee one cowers
Like a dismayed little mouse.
The house is fed to fire
With mouse still sealed inside.
All rescue is ill-fated,
Unsaved and saviors burned alive.
#2-End
Thunder rumbles nearer...clearer
Drowning out all sound.
A billion foot-falls, helter-skelter
Split apart the ground.
Voiceless screamers falling-calling.
Tidal wave of hands.
Existance twists, bending, rending
Lifeless all the lands.
#3-Frenzy
Khaki insects advance nigh
Muster their morsels' drift
Toward the twisted serpent grin
That roars betwixt the cliffs.
The faithful walk upon the air
Across the spanning yawn.
The insects and the serpent feed
Till faithless are all gone.

Reunion
He steps out from the silver
And straightly strides her way.
He kneels to where she's waiting
And bows, as if to pray.
His eyes, fond and familiar
Betray his love so true.
He kisses her and whispers
"I've not forgotten you."

Hampered Bride
A dress rustles and bustles and bellows
It fits wrong all along as she hurries
Eyeballs, faceless, float wide and unwinking
As the out of place princess. she scurries.
The vault is unlocked and left hollow.
In a flurry, she still misses her ride.
So atop of the sumac she scampers
Tis her shortcut to being a bride.

#1-Matriarch
Smiling wide, teeth flash yellow and brown,
She hawkeyes the homestead. Then with tight lipped frown
She turns and looks down with splinter ice eyes
With never a word...she is ever despised.
#2-Unprepared
A thousand chairs lined into one hundred rows.
Mass hum of voices from faces unknown
All streaming like ants through a slim side walk crack.
Inadequate seating means turning half back.

#1-Cavern
Terror thunders just 'yond view.
Tidbits stumble and slip through
Smiling stone...now they're safe.
Wandering a sunless cave.
#2-The Pain
Again the pain flares like the sun.
Aid is passed, Brantford is shunned.
Endlessly the hurt's endured
Until we find new place of cures.
Sterile white gleams bright and cold.
Though in pain...I'm put on hold.
When tests are taken and compiled...
Prognosis is...I am with child.
#3-Interview
Upon the green of childhood home
Strangers sit with me alone.
A hefty woman, scarlet clad,
A frail man suited in plaid,
They sit upon the south.
Questions spew out their mouths.
With honesty I answered all
But what was said can't be recalled.
#4-Snow Caught (lucid)
Giant snowflake sparked and shone,
Half swallowed by a drift.
Beyond the yard's perimiter
The snow whipped wild and swift.
Upon a twiggly naked tree
Grass basket balanced high.
Lucidity then sparked within...
I shimmied to the sky.
#5-Maze
A linen labrinth swayed
It's walls tattered and grayed
Within it's weathered walls
A soul was lost to all.

#1-Sketches
Out from the dark beneath the dreams,
The long lost tablet thick with themes
Sketches from a total life,
A record of my scribbled strife.
#2-Schism
The innards of a tilted chapel
Stare with soul-less eyes
To the stranger standing back
Deflecting all the lies.
Becloaked pastors romp and stomp,
Primping lanky locks.
Caustic stranger is cast out
For challenging the crock.

#1-Slideshow
Investigator waits reply
Photos passed before wide eyes.
But terror caught, she answers not.
She won't admit alien plots.
#2-Key
Drenched in jewels and shimmering silk
The prisoner princess weeps,
Safe from filth and the fury of life
In luxurious hell He keeps.
A savior stumbles, shatters walls,
Princess is swept away.
Salvation grins. Life begins
In it's slummy array.
Soon they halt before a great vault
With no lock or latch to see.
Princess sings. The vault door swings.
Her voice...the mystical key.
#3- Price of Honesty
Package packed with unbent bills,
Small fortune fanned in hand.
In all my humble honesty
I sacrifice the grand.
Back to my meager life I turn,
Find naught but poverty.
Only then the sun does dawn.
The bills were meant for me.
