The most vivid Cruise Ship Holiday
It all starts off with me watching a yachting program on tv, which then for some reason turns out to be a magazine I'm reading. After paging through the mag for a while, I put it down, only to realise that I myself am now sitting on the deck of this most luxurious cruise ship. It's not one of those massive ocean liners, but more like a big, private yacht with sleeping quarters enough for about 50 people. It has three decks, a swimming pool, a great enetrtainment area towards the bow of the ship with hammocks, large comfy couches, a great bar... in other words, a really cool chilling spot.
For some reason she's moored in Cape Town close to Clifton. The water is the most amazing azur-blue I've ever seen, crystal clear right to the sea floor. Maike, Tania and my parents are there too with a bunch of their friends. All in all, a great party atmosphere with "island music" playing in the background. I start to walk around to check out the rest of the ship and come across the presidential suite. It's the most amazing room at the very front of the ship. It has this huge bed covered in white linen, dark mahogany furniture and indoor palms everywhere, the sides of the room are glass so you have an almost complete 360deg view of the idyllic surroundings. Right at the bow is this jacuzzi/bath that obviously also looks out of the huge windows. Behind that, there are these narrow steps that lead to a private balcony nestled between the anchors, with a few plants, two deckchairs and a hammock. Also there's a cooler with champagne next to the deckchairs. At that moment I realise that this is my room, waiting for me when Tsiona joins the cruise in a few days. Can't wait!!!
I go back up to the deck with my camera, taking really awesome pics as I go. I meet Maike in the chill-out area, watching some surfers catch the most perfectly breaking waves just off the stern. I get up real close and, using my telephoto lens, capture some really cool surfing moments on film. After that, these deck-hands come round with lunch; grilled prawns, langoustines and crayfish on these big platters with bowls of what looks like sauce tartar. I grab a langoustine to start with, dip it in the sauce and as I put it in my mouth, I get this explosion of the most mind-blowing, delicious taste I've ever had! The meat is succulent, soft and juicy, and together with the sauce, the combination of tastes sends me into stratospheric levels of food-induced ecstasy. It is by far the best taste I've EVER had, dreaming or awake!
After lunch I'm chatting to Maike when suddenly it seems that a toddler (one of the passenger's kids) has walked off the edge and fallen into the water. I look over the railing and see the kid sinking to the bottom. Immediately I jump in after it, diving into this bright blue water, grab the kid (she's not even crying too much) and return her to her parents, and then decide to go for another swim because the water is so warm and I don't have to hold my breath while diving down deep, it seems I can breath underwater. After swimming/diving for a while, I see the sun is starting to dip, it's late afternoon. I get back onto the ship and suddenly I'm completely dry, but still in my board-shorts.
While looking over the deck out onto the sea, the most amazing views suddenly come into, er.. view. I grab my camera and start snapping away. Great contrasting colours: the blue ocean, the crisp white deck and walkway, the white houses up on the cliff to the right of us, weird coloured birds (almost like storks/pelicans coloured like parrots) criss-crossing the inky-blue sky, bright green palm trees lining the bay... it blows me away; I can't take pictures fast enough! While looking through the view-finder on my camera, I notice that as I focus on scenes, they start to change almost like on an acid trip. Colours and shapes blending and merging, complete scene changes where suddenly I'm looking at another island somewhere in the world, varying emotions etc... funny that as I remove the camera from infront of my eye, I'm back on the deck and everything is back to normal.
I realise that I'm slowly starting to wake, but instead of being sad in leaving this awesome dream, I'm filled with one of the most satisfying feelings I've ever known. Once awake, I just lie in bed staring in front of me, not being able to believe this most amazing dream I've just been blessed with. It's really awesome!!!! It's nearly an hour later now (writing this post), and I'm still on this cool, natural high that I'm sure will last the rest of the day!
