Welcome to my dream journal! I recently lost my physical dream journal (I'm sure it'll turn up though), so I decided to start up one here. I'll begin with the two dreams I remember from today. Entries whose dates are enclosed in asterisks are those with lucid dreams. Feel free to leave any comments or questions.

***9 November***
What I remember of this dream begins in a store not unlike Walmart, where I am looking at a large display of televisions, all playing different programs. On one of the televisions appears a close up of a penis going in and out of a vagina (sorry to start the journal off like this, but I'm just describing what I saw :D), and I think this was hilarious. I laugh at it for a good minute or so, until somebody catches my eye. It is a former classmate of mine, who I still see from time to time but whose name I can never remember. I try to tell him about the television, but he seems rather uninterested. At this point the dream fades and I wake up. It's about 3:30 a.m., so I go over the events in my head and tell myself I'll write about it later, then go back to sleep.

I find myself in the same store, where I listen to a conversation between two shoppers discussing the films on display. This dream is very short, and I wake up again. Again, I promise to write about it later, and tell myself that if I find myself in that store again I'll try to remember that it's a dream.

A few minutes later I go back to sleep, and I am indeed in the same store. I see many racks of clothes in front of me, and a female shopper looking through them. Just as I told myself, I immediately realize that I'm dreaming! :D I kiss her in celebration, then go off. Something happens that I can no longer remember, but after a short while I am in a hallway on campus, and things are still fuzzy. I try spinning around, rubbing my hands, and yelling "Increase lucidity now!" which helps a little but it still doesn't look like reality. I decide to ignore it and get on with my dream. I walk towards my Russian classroom, where I hope to find a classmate I have a crush on. On the way, I notice an annoying kid I knew in high school, who says something to the effect of "Go to Vietnam, hippy!" I tell him to fuck off and keep going on my way.

I get to the classroom. sit down in my seat and look around the room. I can't see her, so I watch the door attentively, commanding her to come. I'm a little disappointed that I can't, until I look to my left and there she is! I get up and give her a big hug. She wraps her arms and legs around me, and I carry her around the building just making out with her for about five minutes. The dream starts to fade and she turns into a banana for some reason. I am quite startled by this and wake up. It is a little after 4:00.

***9 November (afternoon)***
After I get home from class around 1 p.m., I feel pretty tired and decide to take a nap, and tell myself I will have a lucid dream.

My memory of this dream begins in the same building on campus as the previous one. Somehow I realize that I have superpowers but don't realize I'm in a dream (that kind of thing ought to tip me off, you would think). I am able to do all sorts of insane stunts on a beam about ten feet over the floor.

I get down and suddenly remember something that was said on these forums, namely that controlling your dreams and knowing your dreaming are two separate things. For a while I think what a pity it is that I can only control my dream but not know that I'm dreaming. Then it hits me. I am dreaming! :mrgreen:

I see the girl from my previous dream doing her homework, and I sit down next to her. I am able to confess my true feelings for her, and simply talk with her while embracing her. Feeling the warmth of her body against mine is the most exhilirating feeling. I get lost in the conversation and for a while forget that I am dreaming. I begin to help her on her Russian homework, explaining to her how the verbs work. After about ten minutes, she says she has to leave, and I get up to walk her to the parking lot. I suddenly remember that I'm in a dream. On the way I see many teachers and classmates of mine, and wave at them. When we are in the parking lot, I say "До свидания" ("goodbye" in Russian) to the girl and she leaves the dream world.

Somewhere in here the scene changes to my hometown. I am on a sidewalk, and lying in the grass I see a large green stick. I decide to go on a GTA-style killing spree just for the hell of it, and pick up the stick. I aim it at people and make machine gun sounds. The stick turns into a machine gun and I start mowing people down, shooting cars and buildings. The people bleed and then disappear, and I try to break every window I see. After shooting all the windows on the library, I see a man come from behind a car who starts walking towards me. At first I think he is going to try to kill me, but then I tell myself that it's my dream and he's going to do something nice instead. He gives me an Oreo and walks away. I decide to test out my taste buds and the Oreo tastes entirely realistic.

After that yummy treat, I turned my gun back into a green stick and began flying around on it much like a witch flies around on a broomstick. It is a lot of fun and I fly around the town, eventually landing on the roof of the grocery store. The dream starts to fade, but I don't care since this was my longest lucid dream ever and I had loads of fun. I wake up and immediately shout out "YES!" It is shortly after 2:30.

10 November

An interesting dream with an interesting plot. I wonder what in my life inspired it.

I am looking at a desert wasteland. I feel it is the distant future. I am not in this scene; I am just observing. I am following the journey of two men, who come across a red creature that looks like Eric Cartman's head from South Park, lined with a circle of spikes as drawings of the sun often are. The creature is impaled by a stick coming out of the ground. It groans "I'm aliiiiive...", which startles the two men. One of them pokes it, and it explodes into two creatures. These two creatures explode into two more creatures, and each of these explodes into two more creatures, etc. The exponential growth is rather virus-like and extremely rapid. Soon whole mountains of these creatures exist, each one individually distinct from the next. I feel these creatures have taken over the whole world, driving humanity to the brink of extinction, but luckily they kill themselves off first as they cannot sustain their virus-like expansion.

Later, I find myself on a rather large wooden ship traveling on a shallow river with some of the few surviving humans. Life on this boat is harsh and brutal. We are told that we are the only people left on the planet, but somehow I doubt this. I know if I try to escape they will come after me and try to force me back onto the ship, where I will be punished.

I am on the back of the ship, looking into the water and contemplating escape. I see the motor powering the ship, and know if I hit it I will be badly hurt. No one is looking however, so I jump anyways. Luckily I miss the motor and plunge into the water. I hold my breath but I know I cannot do this indefinitely. I try to wait for the ship to go further away before coming up to air, because someone might see me if I do. I end up coming up for air a couple times before the ship has traveled very far, because it is very slow. Someone spots me, but I do not know this yet.

I swim to shore, and hear the dramatic voice of a narrator describing "the quest...for escape." I am in a dense forest now. I see an elderly man has jumped off the ship and is swimming after me. The narrator explains that he has caught several attempted escapees before. I try to hide behind a tree and see a pair of scissors in the dirt, which I pick up. I find another pair of scissors, and wait for the inevitable contact between me and the man. When he arrives, he too has a pair of scissors, but I get the first blow. I stab him to death and begin my free life.

Later I find myself in a colony started by escapees. A man and a woman give me a brief tour of the building their small society inhabits. This is a true utopia. Everything is shared among all members of the society, food is plentiful and the people are generally quite happy. The woman explains to me that if I am to join them I will have to abide by a couple basic rules their society has. I am willing to do almost anything, since this place is far better than the ship was.

I ask them what their sex lives are like, and they seem puzzled by the concept, as if they don't know what sex is. I kiss a lady on the cheek, and they are shocked and mildly offended by my action. Kissing seems to be obscene to them, although they don't really seem to know why. I kiss a man on the cheek in the same manner, hoping to stir up some instincts in these people. I explain the concept of sex to them, and they begin to remember what has been forgotten.

I high-five a man, exclaiming "we're gonna get laid tonight!" He is a black man in his late 20s or early 30s, and is ecstatic about the idea. We go into a room to sit down and have a chat, and he explains to me how people of different genders, ages and races live in harmony as equals in this society, because it is one of their fundamental beliefs that all people much more the same than they are different. In the face of the struggle all mankind has to put up with in these hard times, they feel we need to ignore our superficial differences and work together. At this point the dream fades and I wake up.

11 November

Unfortunately, I was too preoccupied this morning to think of what happened in my dreams. All I can remember is embarrassing myself while speaking to some native French speakers by saying "tu" where I should have said "vous".

11 November (evening)

Again, I can't remember much of this dream. I feel as if I was playing GTA, in that I am observing myself in third-person view and do not have any sense of consequences to my actions. I steal a tractor and try ramming it into some cars and people, then start driving it on the highway. I am struck by a vehicle and ejected from the tractor. I am flung several hundred meters, knocking down a pedestrian who for some reason has a green aura around him. I land in the grass and then wake up.

***13 November***
Just had a rather short lucid dream. The first one I've had that's been tipped off by a reality check.

For some reason I am back in time, at a point before I was born, exploring the high school I went to, and this does not tip me off to the fact that I'm dreaming. I see that everything in the vending machines is really cheap. I put a dollar in one of the vending machines and select a candy. However, it does not want to drop all the way down, so I start jiggling the thing around. The vending machine maintenance guy happens to be there, and tells me not to do that. I tell him to give me a refund then, and he refuses. We get into a short argument before I am distracted by a stream of students headed into the auditorium. I follow them and see that an assembly is about to start. I go into the next room, which is the gymnasium (even though in real life that would be on the other side of the school), where I see a whole bunch more students. I go back to the auditorium, cross the room to the other door, and exit the building. I see a construction project in the works on the side of the building, with a sign on it that reads "CAUTION: 662,045 (or some other six-digit number) bricks and pipes may collapse on you at any moment." Naturally I try to avoid this and walk towards the street.

On the street I see a short lady wearing some black Victorian clothing riding a camel. This strikes me as quite odd (finally!) for a couple of reasons, not the least of which being that these cold mountains are a quite inhospitable environment for camels. I remembered my policy of doing a reality check whenever anything seemed out of the ordinary or dreamlike in any way, even though I was quite sure this was not a dream. I decide to test out gravity, and I tell myself I will really have to believe I can fly in order for this reality check to work. After a little reflection, I find that I'm really not so sure that this is reality, which I take as a good sign because usually in reality there's no doubt about it. I stretch my arms out and although I don't exactly fly, I am able to jump inhumanly high. Yes! I am dreaming! I go down the street a bit more, enjoying my surroundings and my flying abilities. I find some kids playing basketball and join in their game, totally whooping their asses of course, since they can't fly. I also tell them certain things about the future (specifically, to invest in Microsoft stock). After a few minutes of this I wake up.

***15 November***
Several short dream fragments I can remember before getting lucid:
* I am back home for some reason. My brother tells my parents that I made an insulting thread about him on a message board, and my parents get very angry at me.
* I am eating candy corn and Reese's peanut butter cups on my bed. Some of the candy falls between the bed and the wall, and I go under the bed to search for it. I find it but it is rather dusty under there and I decide not to eat it.
* I am in the auditorium of my high school, in the front row, waiting for something to begin. I see a former classmate that I recognize.
* I am watching TV, and there is a glass building on fire, with some firefighters attempting to put it out. There is a Korean man on one of the upper floors, and everybody seems to know that the building is going to collapse soon. The man jumps through a window, shattering it and falling to the ground. His last words are "I did what I had to" and he dies. I wonder why he didn't try to kick the window out before jumping, instead of filling his whole body with glass shards.
* I hear lots of sirens, and as I look out my window I see a whole bunch of police cars, fire trucks and ambulances going by.
* I am back home again, in the kitchen. My brother attempts to threaten me with knife. I don't know if he's joking or not, and I threaten to call 911. Somehow I get the knife from him, and call my mother at work, but I press the wrong last digit and somehow end up calling my father. This is such an amazing coincidence that I forget about my brother and the knife, who disappear from the story.

And last but definitely not least, the lucid dream:

I am in a house that I don't recognize, in a city that I don't recognize. I look out the window to see the most beautiful meteor shower. The whole sky is filled with these orange specks of light. It is absolutely stunning. After observing them for a bit, I rush to the next room and tell my brother "Look out the window, now!"

At some time around here I must have become lucid, but I don't remember when or how.

I am somewhat afraid that one of the meteors might crash into the city, seeing the sheer number of them. There must be thousands of these things lighting up the sky. Lo and behold, when my brother and I go to look out the window, we see a thick plume of smoke coming out of the city somewhere. On closer inspection, we can see flames in this building. I look to the left and see more buildings on fire. My father comes into the room, and comments on how he feels as if he's in a game of SimCity 2000. Looking back at the fires, I see that the burning buildings actually do resemble the buildings you would see in a game of SimCity 2000. This is the first clearly lucid moment I remember. I tell him "Well sorry about that, I just looked to that part of the city!" I knew that there had only been one fire before, and that my mind generated the new fires when I looked over there.

My dad tries to show me something on a table, but I am too preoccupied with my lucidity to pay attention to him. I say a couple times out loud "I am dreaming. I am dreaming." I reflect for a minute on how real all of this feels, even though I know I should be feeling my body in bed. I try to put that idea out of my mind, in the fears that I might wake up if I do feel myself in bed. I can see that the meteor shower has ended, and decide to go do something more fun. I leave the room and head towards a staircase leading down to a door. As I do so, an Asian lady appears from a room to my right. I briefly consider having sex with her but choose not to. I go down the stairs and out of the house. I am now in a driveway, and there is a school bus pulling up. I think it would be neat to take a bong hit inside a school bus, especially since I've been all out of weed in real life for several weeks, so I go about achieving this goal.

I open the door to the school bus and ask the driver if I can use it. Since this is my dream and he has to do what I say, he agrees. He shows me briefly where the different controls are, then leaves the bus. I get into the driver's seat, back the bus up, turn it around, and drive out onto the highway. As I am driving it, I pull out a bong and take a nice big rip off it. Things start to get blurry as I speed the bus up, and the scenery changes rapidly. When I slow down again, I am driving it inside a hallway of my university. This is kind of odd, but I don't think much of it. I can't see the bus around me anymore, but I can feel its bumpy-ness and I'm still clearly driving it and using the controls I was shown, not walking down this hall. And even though there are other students about, I am not mowing them down with my bus. At some point near the library, I decide to stop driving the bus, and conveniently enough, as I can see no bus interior around me I don't have to get out.

I take another bong hit as I'm walking away from the library, and as I'm holding it I reflect on the fact that I must actually be holding my breath in real life, since Stephen LaBerge explained in his book how our eye movements and breathing patterns during sleep reflect what we're actually doing in the dream. I see some people using some sort of large contraption that involves a large clear tube about 6 feet high. I decide that would make for a pretty cool bong, so I take the tube and start turning it into a bong. Out of nowhere I produce a bowl and stem for it, and stick them into the tube. Now I need some weed, but I don't know where to find any and seem to be having difficulty producing it out of nowhere. I reach into my pocket and hope to find some there, but all I can feel is pocket lint. I know if I pull out the pocket lint and expect it to be weed, it will be weed when I look at it. And this is exactly what happens. I pack the bong full of my dank, crystally, green pocket lint weed and fire it up. Unfortunately, as I'm doing this I wake up from the dream.

***17 November***
I am on my bed sitting cross-legged, and decide to imagine what it would be like to levitate and fly around the room in this cross-legged position. While I am imagining this, instead of picturing it in my head I actually see it before my very eyes. I can still feel the bed below me, but my field of vision is actually changing with my fantasized movement around the room. I look back to the bed where I still feel myself sitting, and see nothing. This gets me thinking, and I reluctantly accept the possibility that this just might be a dream. Of course it should be glaringly obvious at this point, but I'm on the fence about it since everything seems so real. I remember that if I'm not 100% certain I'm awake, I have to be dreaming. I've just never had the experience of being awake and not knowing it for a fact. I attempt to make a bag of weed materialize out of nowhere, and am successful. Huzzah, this is a dream! I smoke some of the weed and then go off and have about 10 to 15 minutes of fun with the girls in my dream world before waking up. :hump: :mrgreen:

***19 November***
Had three lucid dreams last night! Three! From now on I will only post my lucid dreams, and any normal dreams which are particularly interesting. I just don't have the time to write down every detail of every dream, but I would like a log of my lucid dreams for inspiration.

Lucid Dream #1:
I am in my room questioning whether or not this is reality, and decide to do some reality checks. I try to put my finger through my palm, but for some reason that doesn't work. I'm nott convinced though. I pick up a tube of toothpaste and try to put my finger through that. Sure enough, with some effort I am able to stretch the tube out and pull off a big chunk of it, as if it's made out of gum or something. I try to walk through my door but that fails. Eager to go do something meaningful, I just open it up and go on my way. I decide to go to the floor below me, where I know some very attractive girls live. I walk around grabbing the boobs of every girl I see, which is quite fun. I try to take one girl to a private room where we can have sex, but for some reason she turns into a cat. (?) Anyhow, I go into another room and try to make a specific girl I know to materialize. I am unable to come up with a good replica of her, however, and lose lucidity shortly thereafter. Then I find myself on the set of MadTV, where I participate in some idiotic sketch. I wonder why I dream so much about television when I haven't even watched it for months.

Lucid Dream #2:
I am in a room with lots of small animals, some of which I know are supposed to be there, and some which are not. There are some kittens and some squirrels, from what I can remember. At some point my sister shows me a movie on the Internet that deals with Christianity. There is a magician trying to reenact some of the miracles of Jesus, and then somebody comparing Jesus to Hitler for some reason.

The scene changes to a vision of ancient Israel where Jesus is absolute dictator. (Yes, I know this is nothing like what it was like...) My sister and I for some reason are sucked into the movie, which becomes reality for us. It looks like Monty Python's The Life of Brian, except there are Israeli flags and blue and white things everywhere, to convey excessive nationalism. I remark to my sister that some of this is actually Finnish, since I can point out some blue-and-white Scandinavian crosses on things, as on the Finnish flag. I walk up to a rather anachronistic, modern-looking building, with somebody barking orders over a loudspeaker for everybody to get back to work. Somewhere in here I become lucid, and attempt to enter the building. I decide it might be fun to try flipping off a guard. I know there will be lots of sirens and alarms and stuff if I do, but I use my lucid powers to make him let me by with no confrontation.

I walk down a hallway, and attempt to find the girl I was unable to find in my previous dream. I find her, although she doesn't look quite like she does in real life. I kiss her and give her a nice shoulder rub, which she appreciates. I then go back into the hallway, where I go on another boobie-grabbing spree. I overhear somebody mentioning marijuana, and decide to share my views on the subject. I proudly proclam, in a loud voice "MARIJUANA -- THE BEST DRUG ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH!" I approach them and pull out a joint. I can't see it, but I know if I pretend enough that it's there it will become visible. I light it up, take a drag, and pass it to the next guy. After looking away and looking back, it is indeed there. When it comes back around to me, I knock off a long string of ash at the end, which I can feel is hot. Anyhow, I take a drag and continue down the hallway on my boobie-grabbing spree. Eventually I find myself in an empty room with some multi-colored semicircular bleacher-like things and some graffiti which reads "Chris is 2 good 4 the team". The dream fades and I wake up.

Lucid Dream #3:
I find myself on the bus, naked for some reason, but it seems nobody can see me. I am wondering what I would do when the bus stopped. I plan on getting out of the bus and running back to my room as quick as possible. After a while, though, I find out I'm not really naked but in my bathrobe, although the bathrobe is open and my genitals exposed, and I don't seem to be able to close it although I have to admit I didn't try very hard since nobody seemed to notice me anyways.

The bus driver is having an argument about freedom of speech, and what should be tolerated. He proclaims to the entire bus that we should say whatever we feel like saying. In response, the passenger next to me makes a very offensive comment about black people. Two furious black passengers get up and make their way over to this person. He frantically apologizes and barely avoids getting the crap beaten out of him.

I could see in the reflection in the window that not only was I in my bathrobe, but my hair was all messed up. The person sitting next to me is trying to take pictures of me or something, and after reflecting upon the strangeness of this whole situation I figure out I'm dreaming, and exit the bus (by going straight through the side of it). I'm not completely lucid at this point, as I still feel I have some obligation to go to class. I decide to run back to my room.

I find that a classmate of mine who was on the bus is running after me, and I stop to let him catch up. I ask him why he was on the bus since I know he has a car. I wonder how he will respond to this, since I can't imagine a good answer, and I know he is just a figment of my imagination. But my imagination is more fertile than I give it credit for. He responds that he doesn't want to miss out on all the bus station action. I try to tell him that there's really nothing exciting about busses, and he disagrees. I decide to get on with the dream, though, explaining that I need to go put on some clothes. I continue walking to my room, where it dawns on me that it's Saturday and I don't need to worry about class.

I reach the top of a stairway, where I remember that I'm dreaming and become aware of the fact that I can do whatever I want, no matter what day of the week it is. I reach into my mouth and take out the gum I'm chewing. This makes my hand sticky, and I try to remove the stickiness with my other hand, but this just makes that hand sticky too. My hands remain sticky for the remainder of the dream. I find another staircase, which seems to go down several stories in a spiral. I decide to try to make the girl I have a crush on materialize again, by envisioning her walking up the stairway. I see the arms of two people coming up the stairs, one of which is wearing a red shirt, as was the girl when I last saw her in real life. I conclude that this must be her. A large man appears to my left, wanting to go down the stairs. He claims to be some top military official, but I tell him not to go down the stairs until these two people reach the top. He obeys my command.

The girl finally comes to the top of the staircase, and finally I have made a clear image of her. I am delighted. I put my arm around her and walk around with her, just feeling her warmth and chatting with her casually. After a while, I decide to hold her hand, but my hands are still sticky. I see somebody coming up with a big yellow tray of water, and try to wash my hands off in it, but am unsuccessful. Oh well. I continue holding the girl's hand until the dream fades and I wake up.
