      Octagonal (Newbie) Dream Updates

Hello World. This is where I will post a journal of my foray into the interesting subject of Lucid Dreaming. I guess starting with dream recall and then hopefully on into my lucid experiences. For the record, I started this journey on December 12th, 2005. I began with just a slight knowledge of the existence of Lucid Dreaming but have never tried dream recall or tried to induce a lucid experience. Growing up I have had experiences like this but they are very few and far between, just glimpses of memories now. I do remember that at one time I was able to fly and that occasionally I have been falling and realized halfway down that I am in a dream and the fall would not hurt or kill me. None of this was ever induced in any way nor did I have any knowledge of lucidity at the time. So, I am excited about this and will try to keep up with it.

( This post was written as if the date were yesterday, when I first read about this website and decided to start keeping a dream journal.)

      Great first night.

Wow, this dream journal stuff works. I set my alarm a few times during the night. Once at 1AM then at 2:50AM. I was trying to catch myself in the REM period. I also kept a notebook and pen next to my bed. After 1 night, I have 4 dreams written down.
I will not actually post my dreams here, but short descriptions and things I noticed. The only way I will transfer what I have already written down is if someone actually cares about reading them. So here we go.
The first one was really short.
The second and third ones could be the same dream but in different places.
The fourth was a little longer.
I remember a few details, dream characters, and events. I also remember in my third dream asking myself if I was dreaming (actually, hoping I was dreaming) because something embarrasing happened, but I went straight back into the dream, accepting it as reality.
I am amazed that I can recall 4 dreams. I guess concentrating on recalling them as I went to sleep each time really helped.
I will try again tonight and see how I go again.
      Good Luck all you dreamers.

Last night was not as successful as the night before. I only have very slight memories of 2 dreams. I am aware of at least 1 other one, but remembered no details of it. I will try again tonight. I had a lot of trouble going to sleep last night, maybe that had something to do with it.

No dream recal at all last night. How dissapointing. It may have been because I wasn't able to get to bed until 2:00 AM last night and I had to get up early. Hopefully I get some more sleep tonight.

Well, a few nights away from the computer never hurt anyone.
Thursday Night - Slight Dream recall, a few memories of 2 dreams
Friday Night - Very vivid memery of 1 dream
Saturday and Sunday Night - No dream recall

Still no lucidity. It's not too bad though. I am just getting started. I wish I could remember more dreams.
