NAVAJO DREAM
i really wish i could figure this one out. its a long one but here goes: it concerns 3 dreams ive had.
the strange thing bout them is that i remembered a stranger from one dream. there are 2 kinds of people in my dreams- those that i know to some degree in real life ( including people i may have seen on tv) and those who are strangers- people i cant account for having seen in life, and rarely even speak to them and never remember what they look like and never ask their names ( as far as i can remember). They re just there, like extras in a movie. but this young man i remembered him. and in a later dream i was talking to 3 strangers, and i told them about the dream. never had a dream where i told somebody bout a previous dream. Id also like to say im not native american, never been to a reservation or the SW, never met a Navajo.
the 1st dream occured at the end of Nov. I dont remember anything much, but i wonder if its possible that most of it was my brain's answer to a movie id seen a couple months prior (it can take days weeks of even months before i dream something ive seen or done ) about a white boy who moves to NM to a Navajo area, makes a couple navajo friends and works on a buffalo preserve. in the dream i move to NM to a Navajo area, and at one point im wisked of into a wooded area by spirits who hold me overnight and endow me with all this wisdom and knowledge and return me the next day. everybody knew what happened and were like "WOW" and im like,"why me, im not even Navajo" then i forget what happened next but eventually the dream changed to where we were dealing with the aftermath of a hurricane (while still in NM) , though this is clearly another Katrina-based dream, as that still tends to weasle its way into my dreams now and then.
The piece de resistance is the dream that came the next night. Again Im with the Navajo, the only non-Nav. there. It was me and a bunch of other people close to my age. we were on a large concrete slab with school desks and our backpacks and stuff, looked like an outdoor classroom. we were all hanging out and talking bout this and that. these people were all strangers so i dont remember any names or faces...except one. A young man my age named Juliano (the "J" in the English sense, not the way Spanish pronounces it) Obviously a variant of Julian, but Ive never heard it before. a couple people referred to him as Choilano-dont know if they were just saying his name real fast or if this is a Nav. name or what.
( and no i didnt mistakenly transpose the "I" and "L" ) he was bout 6ft or 6 ft 1. and very slender. He had brown skin and eyes, his black hair was cut short in a typical manner of young men everwhere. he had on blue jeans, wide-legged but not skater style. he also had on a solid blue short-sleeved jersey. There was a bond between us and everybody knew this. So there we are hanging out and then the dream fast forwards to the next day (or more?).
Im walking up the road alone heading toward the area, when i come upon an old woman traveling in the opposite direction. She was in her 60's and was short and plump. her hair was mixed with a lotta gray and pulled back from her face.she had on glasses. her clothing was traditional Nav. style- brown shirt, & skirt in a pattern of browns, lavendars, lt. blues and cream. She was pushing a metal cart similar to a shopping cart, it had some stuff in it. dont remember what all we said to each other, but she gave me a necklace. she told me it was a gift. It was a pendant that hang on a long silver chain. the pendant was about 2 1/2 in long x 1 1/2 in wide. it was a little under a cm. thick the front and back surfaces were smooth and flat. it was some kind of purple (my fave color) stone like a cloudy amethyst or quartz. The edges were smooth and rounded. It was shaped like a paisley ( you know what im talking about?) over it was attached a flat sheet of silver in the same shape but smaller than the stone upon which it lay. it had some kind of etched design. i thanked her and continued on my way.
when i got to the area i realized that something bad had happened. Juliano came running to me and told me that an evil water spirit had come and flooded the land. he told me what happened to him, and as he told me this, i could see it happening like watching a narrated movie. Juliano found himself alone, surrounded by 4 ft deep water. something pulled him under and he couldnt surface, but the water was very clear. the water spirit came to him in the form of a beautiful young NA woman with long black hair and a healthy face. She tried to entice him with offers of power and wealth and such, if he would do whatever it is she wanted him to do ( i forgot now what that was) he said that a farmer and his wife had already been seduced by her and fallen into her trap. as she swam closer he sould see her unclothed body- it was horribly emaciated, nearly every bone visible, and unlike her face had quite an unhealthy color to it. nonetheless,he refused her offers, because his heart is pure and it is easy for him to decline wealth and power and such, if it means that he must take an evil path. thus he was cast from the water. He was still quite shaken.
after that i showed him my necklace and he was startled. he demanded to know where i got it and i told him bout the woman. "that must have been her. or a servant of her. that necklace is evil. we have to get rid of it" he said it had something to do with the water spirit and that it would help her bring down her evil upon his people. he said we had to take it to some place and cast it into the water, and only then would we be rid of the necklace and the spirit couldnt harm them. he said only the 2 of us could do this cuz we were water signs and had power over water (as in the greek zodiac-but i dont know if the Nav. have adopted the use of the greek zodiac. and indeed i am a Scorpio) he pointed to some place in the far distance that looked like a dam or waterfall, or a cliff ( i cant remember now) that we had to go to that place. I was afraid and didnt wanna go. I asked why he couldnt go, himself, but he said he needed me with him. I still hesitated. He then turned around quite exasperated and said "look...I love you...okay? Now, please... lets just go." And he grabbed my hand and started to pull me along. then someone woke me up.
the 3rd dream was in Feb. I dont remember much, but at one point , i met 3 Nav. girls and remember one had an orange shirt on and at least 2 of them had brown highlights in the hair. we were sitting talking and i began to tell them bout the above dream and i told them about Juliano and described him. they looked surprised and said how cool and weird it was cuz they knew a Juliano who looked just as i described, and i think i remember that they said he owned a blue jersey. suddenly i felt worried and asked how he was if he was okay, and they told me he was in the hospital with some infection in his blood. And all of a sudden they dissappeared and i was suddenly holding a light brown paper in my hands with his name and info on it , and the names and descriptions of 3 different infections that he had- but i cant remember the names anymore. Then the dream changed to other things and i woke up later and i instantly felt a bit of panic. i was actually worried bout him. so i wonder if this really is a living person-perhaps i met him in the astral. its all pretty strange, i dont expect you to know how i feel, but there's just something about these dreams,
now here's where it gets kinda freaky:As I said he was also called Choilano. And we shared some kind of bond, and we're both water signs-according to the Greek zodiac ( remember, im a scorpio). last week i was looking up NA boys' names on the net hoping to find this name or something similar, and i found a Hopi name with more than an eerie resemblance. Although Navajo is from the Athabascan lang. family and Hopi is from the Uto-Aztecan family, i dont doubt that due to the fact that the 2 tribes have lived so close to each other for many centuries, that they have borrowed words and names from each other. I suppose you could also spell Choilano as "Chowilano" im also assuming they re pronounced the same. the Hopi name I found is Chowilawu. And the truly eerie thing is the meaning- "JOINED TOGETHER BY WATER"
