A hoot of a reality check!
05/10/2006 - A hoot of a reality check!
The scene materialized into view. I had no idea of the events which lead to this particular point in my dream, nor did I seem to care. I was just there.
Sitting in the living room of my old house, flicking through the channels on a somewhat older, bubbly television set, I started to get frustrated as an image stood still and the channels would no longer change. I remember the image being something erotic or sexual but I soon became bored and decided to walk around the living room.
I glanced outside into the night and observed as an owl landed on our tree in the front yard. "Odd" I thought, "It's pretty rare to see an owl around here". As I ended that thought I saw a second owl land beside it and they both headed towards the window in which I was looking through.
One of the owls twisted and turned pulling 360 degree turns on his way over, hit the window and fell to the lawn. The second owl simply kept doing strange maneuvers and 360's in front of the window hovering around in a general area.
"All right, something's a little off here, is this a dream?"
I tried a new reality check, one I learned through reading the forms on Dream Views, or perhaps it was the false memory of an RC I learned. I touched my hands together to see if they would pass through each other... the contact was solid.
It seems as though it was proof enough that I was awake. I questioned the situation a little more but everything seemed too vivid to be a dream. So I surrendered to the experience.
Upon looking back out of the window. I saw that the 2 owls had somehow transformed into larger humanoid versions now walking on our front lawn. A van and a truck also seemed to have fallen in our ditch and I remember what seemed like firelight reflecting off the scene.
The dream faded away as I woke up.
Notes:
In previous dreams, I would attain lucidity simply by asking myself if I was dreaming. This situation was different for me though, although I questioned, I came to the conclusion that I was awake which has never happened before.
Perhaps I should do a series of techniques when doing RCs instead of just one. I should also take the time to question my surroundings a bit more.
