      New! Free DreamDiary software!

      Ok, so it isn't that great.
      Being slightly adept in VB, I have coded IdXLog (I will make a version of it bereft of my name, which I am unwilling to disclose), a simple logging-type program that I use for my dreamdiary!
      It works fine as a dreamdiary, is v. small in size, and is simplicity itself.

      Just PM me your email and say you are interested, and I will send you it.

      Just a question of clarification:

      What special features does it have that distinguishes it from wordpad/notepad/word that makes it a better template for dream recording?

      Um... thats a toughie. It depends. It is not a word processor though, you type in the body of a log, type the title and the log is added, it's date of entry recorded and the file saved automatically. It is basically a dairy program, but will enable more than one entry a day. You can Export to RTF to print. Logs can be edited. If you don't want to use it, don't use it - but I created it because I felt Word was unsuitable for the task.

      Copy and paste, the world most best technology for electronic diaries. Even comes with a cut function free!

      I have programmed a little icon to the bottom of my linux screen (you see it in my screenshot). I click it, bam, up comes diary. Copy and paste the template I have at the bottom of the diary, fill in. It's as simple as that.

      Use whatever you feel best. Identity X uses his own program because he likes it like that- good for him. I like a icon I can just click. I like it like that. Some people like a notepad next to their bedroom table. Use whatever is right for you, because even the most advanced program in the world won't do the work for you.

      NEW VERSION ALERT! <img src="http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/banana.gif" style="vertical-align:middle"/>

      Ok, I admit it, the original IdXLog was a little on the shallow side, but it shall be no longer!

      IdXLog Dream Edition, as I have christened it, is specifically made for the purpose. It has out of ten ratings for vividity, lucidity, content and stabilty, has space to enter general description, dreamsigns, technique and background, and, the bit I like best, incorporates my A to Z coding for dreamsigns (you'll have to see it running to understand this). I declare it is brilliant! And one private message away!

      Jealous? Of a Visual Basic program? Woah, definetly not.
      (even if I was jealous, I couldn't have a reason to because I'm on Linux and I can't run VB programs ).

      [EDIT: Oh, yeah, I can host the program for you on my server if you want. It's better than having to PM everybody and e-mail, etc. Just like, drop me a line].

      I just caught that.

      Identity X that sounds like a cool program, I just wanted to know about it's functions. If it's still free I'll take a copy.

      Ok, I'll describe it in a bit more detail now.

      It is like this: to the left there is a RTF textbox. This displays all your dreams in a easy list, with the details shown. It has a dream filter too so you can view all dream with the same feature (e.g. lack of self). New dreams are added on the right hand column with the following details: title, description (the meaty part), dreamsigns/reality checks used, and background (e.g. what technique to induce? woke up early? etc.). Then here are out-of-ten ratings for each dream for lucidity, vividness, content (length etc.) and stability. There are checkboxes to say if they wre lucid or a nightmare, or a lucid nightmare. Then, my best feature, a 'code' can be added with A to Z letters. One may go like this: EVS. The letters correspond to dreamsigns. e.g. K means (it doesn't; I can't remember the code by heart) 'Lack of self'. IdXLog interprets this and displays the details of the dream, with interpreted code, in the RTF box. Files can contain upto 3000 dreams, and are automatically saved after every new dream or dream edit. Dreamdiarys (or journals or whatever) can be exported to RTF for printing. And that's about it.

      Nice program Lucidity X. I'm going to try using it now instead of my regular journal.

      Thanks.

      I should really make a Linux Dreamdiary software for myself. Then laugh at everybody when they can't use it because they've got Windows.

      Dev-C++ bites, it always crashes on me and they killed proxy support. But it's really good if you don't have a need for a proxy and save often.

      Yeah the compiler has no idea what it's doing. But it's free and I don't even know what proxy support is, so I'm fine with it

      Sorry Identity.

      I have a question about your program. I put it on a floppy so I can carry it around with me for convience (sometimes I oversleep and need to get ot school fast).

      But when I try opening the program on another computer it says something is registered wrong and doesn't work. Any suggestions?

      thats prolly cause the VB on the school's compy is outdated or needs updating...i was totally thinkinf about making one of these in VB, but i wont seeing as somebody else did it first ;p ...thats the great thing about laziness...eventually someone else will do it for you 90% of the time

      It's probably the system file commdlg32.ocx. This is the thing that generates the open and save as boxes. I've installed things that overwrite this with an older version, and as such IdXLog does not work when this happens. As I sincerely doubt you have the rights to update sustem files at your school, I would have to say tough luck . Use pen &amp; paper instead and then pdate your ddy file when you get back home.

      TECH SUPPORT (or some kind of it anyway)

      OK, I just want to let some people know about a slight issue experienced by three of IdXLog users. On some systems, but not on most, an error saying something about registry/registered comes up. Any specific details on this error would be much appreciated

      Also a list of other bugs continues:

      On the right hand column it displays the text "For &lt;date&gt;" The date is supposed to be displayed here. This is to be removed or fixed.

      When exporting to RTF, closing the save box without typing in a filename generates an error and closes IdXLog.

      New version (in about 2 weeks) will:

      Fix all known bugs that are fixable;

      Have an extended filter, e.g. display only lucid dreams;

      Automatically load your dreamdiary at start up;

      Have an options box;

      More graphics, view styles, etc.

      A feature to include pictures with dream logs;

      A LucidInducer feature that constantly plays a sound like a subtle clock chime. You can recognise this sound in a dream and become lucid.

      And other minor adjustments.

      Automatically load your dreamdiary at startup:
      Put it the startup menu. Big amazing wow factor, Microsoft has had that feature for years.

      The Error:
      Microsoft suck at backwards support. VB is old. Microsoft don't like it anymore. Therefore, they really aren't bothering much with support with it. Newer systems, such as Windows XP, are likely to have trouble running VB programs. However, cases my vary.

      LucidInducer feature:
      Include a timer.

      3 cheers to redundancy!

      I was just so fortunate enough to happen to run into Visual Studio 6.0 the other day... No more Dev-C++ not wanting to compile my menus or dialogs...

      Those updates sound awesome. Can't wait.

      I got XP and the program runs fine. My school's computers have 98.

      I will ensure that the new version is completely compatible with the first, unlike DE was to vanilla.

      I will include a timer, of couse, and I know you can put it your startup menu, but you still had to click open and all that. This will load the file of your choice at program start up.

      Wow, if you can't be bothered to click open then you're lazy, and shouldn't be bothering to type either.
