So I'm pretty bad about keeping a journal and I figure having it online like this will give me more motivation to record everything I remember...we'll see if it works.
I remember many dreams from before I knew what lucid dreaming was, and I'm going to try to write as many of them down as I can remember from since I was a child. Just finished with exams, so I *finally* have some free time to really devote to improving the quality and frequency of my lucids! This first entry will be just a bunch of dreams I remember and half-remember, so don't expect anything amazing.
As per what I've seen on other DJs, lucid parts are in blue.
1 - My very first false awakening. I was probably about 8 years old, waking up to go to school. I heard my mom call me from downstairs, so I got up and started to walk out of my room. I was already fully clothed, with shoes on, but for some reason I didn't find this odd at all. However, when I went to go down the stairs, I started floating down towards my mother, slow-motion style, instead of actually using the stairs. Not normal. I had no idea what was going on, as I had never been lucid in a dream (that I could remember), so I didn't really know what to make of it. I finished floating down the stairs, woke up for real, and never looked at dreams in the same way again.
2 - This dream must have been sometime in highschool. I dreamed about Frankenstein chasing me all around my city (we read Shelley's Frankenstein in 9th grade. DAMN that guy was freakin scary in my dream, it was just like the book, no matter what I did or where I went, he was right there in the distance chasing after me). This must have been one of the first dreams where I actually realized that I couldn't run at normal speed, it was as if I was running through water or something. It was not until recently (a couple of days ago that I realized that this is one of my dream signs, and it has helped me realize that I'm dreaming since then.
3 - This isn't a dream so much as an observation. I have many dreams where I don't necessarily realize that I'm dreaming, but I "half" do, and by this I mean I realize I can fly. I don't come to the understanding that I am dreaming, but I realize that if I want to I can jump in the air and fly away. Weird, flying around when you're not even lucid. Usually, when I realize I'm dreaming, I just kind of say it, then change what I'm doing, then become non-lucid again (like the harry potter dream below). I'm trying to change that.
4 - Had a dream about parachuting out of a really freakin high plane. Don't remember much besides it was awesome.
5 - This is one of my all-time favorites: There was a huge battle going on. Think middle ages: plate mail, chain mail, ring mail, e-mail (haha jk), huge swords, colorful coat-of-arms, banners, catapults, shields, knights, archers, etc. I have a shield, sword, and some plate mail on, and the screams of war and clash of metal on metal is all around me. But we're not fighting in an ordinary medieval setting, no, we're fighting on and next to pyramids. These pyramids weren't too big, but there were interesting because they were raised very, very high off the ground, say, 100 feet, and each pyramid was separated by about 5 feet of emptiness, each flanked by about 5-10 feet of flat yellow surface before the pyrmaid started where everyone was ruunning around battling. People were jumping from pyramid to pyramid, arrows flying everywhere, and fires were blazing in the night sky. I whack someone off the ledge, turn around, and there's an oppent standning over me, his brown beard protruding messily from under his metal helmit. He smacks me in the stomach with his sword, sending me flying into the abyss between pyramids, and starts laughing. I can feel the warm blood welling from inside the spot where he hit me, and I'm falling downwards in slow motion. Now here's the part I will never forget: As I'm falling, the guy starts laughing and says, "Because you're not from Westerville! Hahaha!" (Westerville is a city where I live). To this day, whenever I meet anyone from Westerville, I am instantly suspicious of them.
6 - Was one of the heroes in Captain America and the Avengers. Pretty sweet. Forget what we did though.
7 - The first nightmare I remember: I was up in my room at my old house, when suddenly I was picked up off of the ground by and invisible force and started slowly floating out the door and down the stairs. As I went down the stairs, my body turned and started going towards the family room...and sitting on the couch in the family room was none other than E.T. He has his arms and long, thin, ugly fingers stretched out towards me and his eyes were glowing an evil, bright red as I helplessly floated towards my doom. Then I woke up right when I got to him. I cannot explain the sheer horror I felt during this dream. Right now, just writing about it, I get horrible chills.
8 - On a side note, is that what nightmares are like for some people? I don't consider being chased, or being locked up, or whatever else to be a "nightmare"...those are pussy ass shit that happen all the time. When I talk about a nightmare, I'm talking about a dream so indescribably horrible that you feel like you are, for lack of a better way to put it, in hell. Just thinking about the sheer, pertrifying horror of these dreams is enough to make every hair on my body stand up. Luckily, however, during these sorts of dreams the terrible feeling is so incredibly intense that my mind wakes me up (or I do just to get out of it) before too much time has passed. In these dreams, I usually end up screaming and screaming and screaming my lungs out while I am waking up, making me unsure sometimes if I was screaming in real life or not. No one has ever told me I was screaming though, so I guess it's just from the dream.
9 - This was the first dream where I actually said to myself, "Hey, wait, I'm dreaming," so it was a momentous moment and one that I will never forget. Me and my best friend were playing at my house (this was probably when I was 8-11 years old). The ceiling above the stairs had some sweet monkey-bars like things that we were swinging around on and doing gymnast-like flips and dismounts onto the stairs. All of a sudden, an animal-like roar rips through the air and freezes us in ur tracks. "Oh no, what was that?" I said to my friend. "We'd better get out of here," he told me. So we run down the stairs and into the dinning room, and what to we see through the sliding glass doors? Velociraptors. Lots of them. And they look hungry. This is not good. So we run to my front door, run outside, and start running for our lives. halfway down the block, though, it hits me. We are running from dinosaurs. DINOSAURS, for christ's sake. Like, what the hell? Is this terror I'm feeling even real? After all, dinosaurs DON'T EXIST. Then I realized I must be dreaming, and that this wasn't real at all. But, I had no idea what to do about it, because my realizing that this was a dream didn't change the fact that 10-20 hungry dinosaurs we chasing me. I looked back and I saw the dinosaurs running towards us, and my friend was freaking out because I stopped running. "What are you doing????!! We have to run away!!! They're going to eat us!!!" I remember how hard it was to ignore my best friend in this kind of situation...after all, what if I was wrong? Both of our deaths would be my fault. But I didn't know what else to do. Against the pleas of my friend, I took my head in my hands and just kept repeating to myself, "Wake up, wake up, wake up..." the dinosaurs were closing in, so I resorted to extreme measures and bashed my head against a nearby tree as hard as I possibly could. I woke up in my bed not being sure what to think anymore.
10 - OK, not going to lie, I used to be obsessed with Halo (the xbox game). I played that shit 24/7 and consequently had a few dreams (non-lucid, sadly) about it. One that sticks out is where I was driving around the map Blood Gulch in a warthog, only the warthog could fly, and so could all the players I was playing! (jetpacks or something, I guess). It was very satisfying to run over people flying in the air with a flying jeep.
11 - Another dream I had a little while ago was set in this immense rock structure with green vines growing everywhere. It was one of those place that is so big and beautiful and ancient feeling that you cant help but lose yourself in it and become one with the surroundings. Anyway, I forget how, but I realized I was dreaming. I decided that I should have a wand and start doing harry potter spells! I went down into a cave, which I unlocked using "alohomora." The inside was decorated just like an Egyptian pyramid would be, with torches, heiroglyphics, etc. Obviously, the Egyptians were my enemyin. The first one came around the corner, and I dispatched him with a disarming spell (expelliarmus). Then another one came at me and I tried to get him with "crucio" (the torture one), but it hit him and didn't seem to do anything. He was closing in on me and I yelled "avada kedavra" over and over but he just laughed and said something to the effect "you cant use that on me." then he attacked me and I woke up. This was cool because it was lucid, but I could only do spells that I could remember the name of and how to say (consequently I was pretty disadvataged in battle b/c i couldn't remember the names of spells on the fly).
12 - FIRST WILD - This was probably one of the coolest experiences of my life. It happened about a year ago. I woke up in the morning at like 9, decided it was too early to get up, and tried to go back to sleep. As I was lying there, for some reason, my mind didn't completely shut off when I was falling asleep. I began to feel this really weird, intense vibration in my head, and my arms felt like they were going up and down THROUGH my matress. OK...this is really weird, I thought, WTF is going on (i didnt even know what a WILD was or even really grasp the concept of lucid dreaming) but I just went with it because I didn't see what other choice I had. Then...well its hard to describe what happened next. First of all, I was floating in a clear blue sky with this train thing coming towards me. It was just like a steam engine, chugging along through the sky at an incredible speed, except for some reason I could tell it was a "happy" train (don't ask...I don't know). The was the most beautiful and inspiring train ever...it was speeding majestically through the sky on tracks that didn't exist, and I was capitivated by the realism of everything, of the clouds next to the train, of the train's whistle, of the ground below me. There was a circle of bright light the train was headed towards, and I followed along by instinct, taking in the beautiful sights of the countryide around me. Bursting through the light, I found myself floating down towards the ground on the street in front of my house. Only this wasn't reality, I knew it was a dream...and it couldn't be reality, because reality was never this real. It was autumn, and the brilliant colors of the leaves on the trees were so indescribably perfect and precise, and the swirling wind felt like something not of this world as it brushed against my face. I really was so struck by the hyper-reality of the world that I had no idea what to do...it's like I could see the truth in everything, if that makes any sense. Sadly, before I could do anything else, I awoke. But I will never forgot that scene, and for the rest of the day, I was completely refreshed and had a feeling of complete happiness. Pretty cool, still haven't had a WILD or LD that was as real as that since then, and I didn't even know what was going on! Now when I WILD, it is hard to make it into the dream successfully because during the vibrations I get scared or my heart starts beating realllllllly fast because I think to myself "OMG IM ABOUT TO DO IT!!!" I think its funny I managed to have an incredible WILD without knowing what it was. I thought I was crazy when I woke up, and didn't think anyone would believe me if I told them I stayed concious even when falling asleep, but then I found this sight and realized lots of people can do it!
That's it for now, I'm tired of writing. I'll post more up to date dreams later.
