Im just wondering, like I just write keypoints. If I wrote everything in detail it would take hours and hours. As long as I remember the key points thats good right?

Well....I'm often asking myself this question (like, every morning) and I suggest writing down the main line / atmosphere of one dream and what you feel might be an interesting / funny / weird anecdote....

I write as much I can remember. I do write down details but nothing like "I was sitting down in a brown chair." I give the general jiffs of what happened in the dream but most of the time as much as I can remember. Key points I find to be alright, nothing wrong with that

I usually wake up with the dream in my mind. I don't go right away to write it in my dream journal but to have the key points in my head the whole day and then I write down the dream that night. I find it works either way and helps my dream recall.

I usually just write down the key points when I wake up then write it up in more detail when I have time.

Same, and how much I end up writing usually depends on how bland or intense/vivid/compelling the dream was.

My dead-tree, real-life dream journal is slightly less descriptive than my online one. I write down what I can remember whenever I wake up. Later, if I have time, I expand on it-- but that's just because I like writing and describing things.

I've considered devising some sort of DJ shorthand, but I wasn't sure how well I'd be able to implement it.
