      Sekurit's Lucid Episodes

      Breakdown:
      Lucid Dream count: 0
      [Updated 05/14/07] :: [Adventure began May 8th 2007]

      After I came to this site and poked around for a bit I knew lucid dreaming was something I wanted to pursue. We're all about efficiency these days. We have the desire to squeeze all possible productivity out of every waking moment in order to compete with the rest of the world. We rise and fall each day with Lifehacks, Pocketmods and class notes stored on our iPods, so it's no wonder I was fascinated with the possibility of facing adventure while I slept.

      I've always been an admirer of the great unknown - so here's to strong winds at my back, tipping my hat as anxieties drift away, and the friggin' neighbors keeping it down! I'm headed for uncharted waters.

      ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

      I enjoy keeping a pen and paper note book so I'm am going to limit (as the title suggests) this thread to only my lucid dreams. For now, I'm sure it'll find a nice cozy place down near the bottom of the stack (hey, that's OK!) until I happen across my first LD.

      See you soon.

      Tonight will be my 10th night logging my dreams. The other night I actually remembered, in detail, five dreams! I've never done that so I know this journal (the paper one I keep) is helping a lot. I had three questions when I started my journal and those where 1. Do I really dream in vivid colors? 2. Do I really 'hear' sounds/music? 3. Do I remember 'smell' in my dreams? My very first night I remembered vivid colors and very distinct music with variable volume levels (still working on discovering scent).

      I picked up LaBerge's book "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" so I can read it between classes and it suggests to classify your dream oddities into a "Dreamsigns Inventory". LeBerge suggested to give this task a shot when you've logged 12 or more dreams so here goes...

      INNER AWARENESS
      + I remember feeling uneasy like I knew it wasn't possible (the guard running so fast) - and that something wasn't quite right.

      ACTION
      + My mom was trying to shove a stack of lawn/garden waste bags and car mats into the cash register slot.
      + Lauren started speaking French, very poorly at first until the DC didn't comprehend her. She then began speaking flawless French.
      + The French guard turned and started running along side my car as I drove. He began running extremely fast, as if he were running in fast forward - way too fast for a human.
      + A meteorite bursts into view and crashes into a drive way, smoke/steam rapidly clears and it's a white Ford Festiva.

      FORM
      + People seem to appear out of thin air when I think they should be there or the dream progresses to the point where X person should actually be there (is this a FORM type?)

      CONTEXT
      + I worked in a convenient store with my mother.
      + I was driving a red Ferrari F430 with a beautiful tan interior past a security checkpoint while leaving a parliament building.
      + I'm in a warehouse where a Batman & Robin comic type "villain" is mass producing multicolored play-pit balls and drenching them in a chemical which looks like dirty water "so they won't stick together". It was a holiday like St. Valentines day because the villain didn't want the balls sticking together in the shape of a heart.
      + The regular "superhero investigators" were taking the day off because it was a holiday.
      + I was playing Mike Tyson's Punch-Out on the Nintendo DS. And I liked it a lot!
      + I'm riding my mother's ten-speed... (you'd never get her on a bike like that)

      This is surprising, I didn't think my main type would be CONTEXT at first but I guess it seems so, then ACTION. I'll have to keep this in mind as I progress through the book. This exercise was a lot of fun because I write my dreams down right after I've been waking up - my spelling is generally horrible and I haven't been rereading my entires until now. Anyway, the Ford Festiva from space was pretty damn funny and I remember the French guard looking so damn creepy running that fast!

      To think that I've slept over nine thousand nights in my life and I've never taken the time to think about what kind of dreams I have amazes me.

      "French things" might be a pretty good dream sign for me. I seem to have the word "French" on nearly every page of my journal - never would have thought that. I'll keep it in mind.

      I spoke to a friend who used to LD in high school quite a bit and his only advice was to "will it". He simply said to have the desire and determination to remember and become aware of your dreams and it'll start happening. Seems like the general consensus here too.
