This will be a log of my dreams, as I remember them. My goal is to become progressively more lucid over time, to learn everything I can from the dream world.

      10-30-2007: Flying

tonight I was running from one random place to another; i became tired while running and stopped by a house at the bottom of a hill to ask for a glass of water. the man sitting outside gave me a glass of cocaine, diluted slightly with water. I drank this down, knowing it would be bad. After drinking this cocaine water I began ranning faster and faster, as I became more and more sick. I ran through some sort of shopping mall where I ran into an old friend, a woman. I made my way out of the mall and onto the streets. There were buildings all around me and I suddenly realized I could fly. I flew up just a few feet and then came back down. When I landed I realized I was dreaming, I then flew higher and higher, until i flew up into the clouds; once i reached space I awoke in my bed.

      11-1-2007 gameboy

after a failed attempt to initiate w.i.l.d., i found myself at work. it was not where i work now or any place i recognized, but i knew i was at work. i was shuffling papers and trying to get something done. when i walked out of my office i was in my home, again not my home now but i knew it was my home. there were two young girls, twins, sitting at the kitchen bar playing with a gameboy. their parents were sitting on the floor in front of the fire place. i picked up the younger girls game boy and looked at it. the game playing was a game i had found myself in in a dream a few nights before. at this point i realized i was dreaming. i stood up, looked around, and then woke up in my bed.

      11-3-2007: work shenanigans

      part 1:
after another failed attempt to initiate w.i.l.d., i found myself back and forth at work and driving around. i was driving around with old random friends i have not seen or heard from in years; at work were many faces i presently work with, however the office and type of work were different. no lucidity was attained at any point during the dream. i eventually woke up in my bed.

      part 2:
this dream was more like i was watching a movie. i was a passenger riding in an suv out in the desert. there were a few movie stars, i cant remember any specific names. it was an action type movie, lots of guns and fighting. i had no significant presence throughout the dream, it was as if i was watching things happen, and moving around to get a better view. no lucidity was attained, after a while of walking around i woke up in my bed.

Last night i attemtped a new method of wild where i let my body fall asleep and keep my mind awake. after many attempts i fell asleep without ludicity. part of my dream included running in a way that is common for me in dreams; it is like there is less gravity so no matter how fast i try to run i just bounce up real high and come down slowly. this is a common occurence for me in dreams and something i need to watch for in the future.

i tried again to let my body fall asleep while keeping my mind awake. i am not having much luck with this attempt as my mind seems to be falling asleep faster than i want it to.

Almost a breakthrough; last night I came closer to keeping my mind awake while letting my body fall asleep. I laid very still and kept one eye slightly open; not enough to really see anything, but just enough to see a little blur of my tv on in the background(muted). this kept my mind alert and awake while i could feel my physical body falling to sleep. unfortunately after about 20 minutes of this i simply had to go to sleep to be able to get enough rest for the next day. i must also say after me and heidi cleaned the house this weekend i slept much better: no more dust floating around to bother my allergies. maybe a weekly or bi-weekly cleaning would be a good idea. either way i am definitely going to look further into the one eye partially open in the future. i have had several near-lucid dreams in which i end up walking through a mirror or glass, only to have a false awakening. my problem no longer seems to be attaining lucidity, but keeping it. almost every night it seems like i am dilding now, only to lose it seconds later to a false awakening, which is why i wish to master the wild technique.

A very common problem. My lucids have been altogether too short lately myself. In an effort to extend them, I've been doing "extended" reality checks. Instead of just doing a reality check, then moving on and forgetting about it when, I keep checking even though I know I'm awake. I try to keep it up for about 10 minutes, constantly looking for signs that I'm dreaming.

The other day I thought there was nobody around, and some guy caught me trying to fly in RL.

      12-4-07 A New Method

No posts in a while, got back from vacation last week and since that time I have come even closer to falling into a lucid dream. My newest technique is to lie perfectly still on my back, arms at my side, with my head tilted slightly to the side to prevent me from having to swallow every few minutes which seems to keep my body awake. While laying perfectly still and controlling my breathing, I focus very intensely on past memories. I can tell there is something going on, as if my body senses that I am going deep into my subconscious and believes my mind to be asleep. I have the most luck with remembering the exact structural layout of buildings such as my various elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as the homes I have lived in. While focusing on these my mind wanders a bit, but it is a controlled wandering that is directly related to the building or place I am thinking about.
So far, each night I have done this I could feel my body going weightless and I feel as if I am floating. After a few minutes of this I feel my body go 'numb', and it feels like I am shaking or vibrating. This usually lasts for several more minutes, and I know this is the last stage before my body falls completely asleep.
After getting to this point one of two things has happened each night, either 1) my girlfriend and the poodle come into the room and it becomes very difficult to remain focused or my body comes back to life or 2) after what seems like 30 minutes I try to "step into my dream" by sitting up, hoping I will sit up into the dream world, only to wake myself up by actually sitting up in my bed.

I think the next step is to continue with this process, but either try to get my body to fall asleep faster so as to not be disturbed, or possibly go to bed a bit earlier or later. Once I overcome this I will look into new ways of "stepping into" the dream world, or maybe even just remaining in the vibration stage until something else happens.

My passion for dream lucidity has been reignited; not a long post tonight, just letting myself know I'm still trying, now harder and closer than ever. WILD is still my method of choice, every night I come one step closer.

The frequency at which I am able to dream lucidly is growing steadily. I all but gave up trying to wild, and have recently had many successes at dilding. This week alone I had a number of lucid dreams. Most involved flying, and I actually spent a bit of time practicing my flight control. I still remember one of the first times I became lucid and tried to fly, I went so high that I left earth and woke up. I'm now able to control the height at which I fly; I need to work on my landings a bit, and speed and direction. I've also gotten better at willing people into my dreams, simply by thinking about someone I haven't seen in a while, or some famous person I'd like to meet, I turn the corner and there they are, waiting for me.

I read this week that eating a dill pickle and a tablespoon of mustard right before bed helps in reaching lucidity while dreaming. The first night I tried it was a bust, I'll be trying it again tonight and see how it goes. Recently I've had many opportunities for early morning/afternoon napping and have had many more lucid dreams with the so called wbtb method. This is always fun although I've found that usually I just dream that I'm where I actually am, ie: I fall asleep on the couch and wake up in a dream laying on the couch. I need some practice at either teleporting or opening a door to another location. It's funny, when I'm not dreaming lucidly I'll frequently open a door and have it lead to some random place in the middle of nowhere.

I never heard that before, but given that I've been eating pickles the past few days and I've had a crazy number a lucids compared to the past two weeks, I could believe it.

Also included in the list was apple juice and orange juice; i've had no luck with any combination of these yet. i should have time for some wbtb tomorrow, gonna give it a try then.
