I'm Forynia, and this is my dream journal. I want to keep this updated with any new or interesting dream developments as I try to improve my recall and the amount of time I spend lucidly dreaming. I hope you enjoy any of my dreams you may choose to read. Also, please comment on anything if you feel the need to say something or provide me with your two cents. I wouldn't write them in this forum if I didn't want anyone to see them. ~_^

Increase my Recall. I have many smaller dreams than some of the first ones I've recorded here. I'm pretty sure "The Island" and "When I was held captive by aliens and married their King" probably spanned several dream cycles during the night because of their length, detail, and the clarity with which I remembered them in the morning. I want to remember more of my other dreams, as well.

Visited In-dream Locations I've been able to remember:

Steam City.
One of the oldest and most established dream locations in my mind. Steam City is is an overcrowded cement city constantly coated in its own artificial steam generated by all the steam powered technology it uses. Cold, cement surfaces with minimal windows make up the majority of the constructs. Many-jointed pipes emerge from the walls and sink down into the city's underbelly. There are no parks, and few open spaces, even in the richer parts of town. Crime is rampant in the city, though besides a steady hissing from nearby pipes and a regular thrumming coming through the cement ground very few sounds can be heard unless you are very near where something is happening.

There is a canal running through the city filled with icky-looking green water. Near the canal is a darkened, low warehouse that can be lit with a single hangng lightbulb. Also in the city is a small office building only a few miles from the warehouse and the canal. On the second floor, with windows facing the street, is a small office where I live and work. It has a large desk, a squeaky chair, and dingy case file cabinets.

The Island.
A large island in a warm ocean that has two climates, one semi-warm plains climate in its southern reaches where many many miles of empty plains lay and one large mountain range in the northern end covered in snow. At the very bottom end of the island a bluff cordones off a small copse of trees and a small bay with a rocky beach.

There are a few villages in the mountains, but I've only visited one. To get to it, you have to go down a hole in the mountainside that presents an interesting sledding challenge and continue sledding through an icy cave carved through the bottom of the mountain. The village lies in a sheltered valley on the other side of the cave. There's a sled shed at the top of the cave pass to make it easier to reach.

The plains are usually inhabited only by a large herd of horses, and are otherwise empty.

Detective: Approximately 1998 - 2000

One of the oldest dreams I can remember is one that repeated itself quite frequently in my middle school years and has not yet returned since, though the experience remains in my mind. I'm a girl, but whenever I dream about myself I am in one of two bodies: a version of me, usually with my reddish-brown hair reaching my middle back (I keep my hair short nowadays, but I still dream of myself with long hair more often than not) and a boy version of myself with dark brown eyes and reddish blond hair layered about my ears.

In this dream, I am always the boy version of myself at about 11-13 years of age. The setting is an overcrowded cement city constantly coated in its own artificial steam generated by all the steam powered technology it uses. Cold, cement surfaces with minimal windows make up the majority of the constructs. Many-jointed pipes emerge from the walls and sink down into the city's underbelly. There are no parks, and few open spaces, even in the richer parts of town. Crime is rampant in the city, though besides a steady hissing from nearby pipes and a regular thrumming coming through the cement ground very few sounds can be heard unless you are very near where something is happening.

It seems a forbidding place, but despite it all I am very comfortable, confident, and at home here. I am apparently an orphan, as I have no home but a single room office full of dingy file cabinets, and have become known as a successful private detective despite my young age. Its a rough city; I imagine children grow up very fast there. I commonly dress in a huge, adult sized brown overcoat and matching child-sized hat. The coat drags on the ground behind me. When I'm awake, I call this place Steam City, though when I dream of it it has a more realistic name I never choose to reveal to myself; it is an unimportant detail.

The dream always begins after I am on a case. I never dream through the process of getting assigned the case, and while I'm usually aware of what the case is about during the dream it always fades after waking. The case isn't important; the journey to solve the case is. Those details of where I go and what I do while on the case remain. It differs each dream. I recall at one time I became frustrated with no leads and found myself on the edge of a cement canal full of dirty, oily green water, where I would often go to think. The steam cleared above me and I saw the moon and a misty-blue sky. It didn't help my case, but it was interesting. Another time I was facing off against a woman of perhaps thirty who liked to dress in gaudy red coats and matching hats, who was somehow connected to the case I was working on. We climbed a half-constructed building as I chased her around, and we were standing on some of the metal support beams, above the cloying steam of the city below with a cloudy sky above us. I don't recall what happened after that, but that scene is distinctly imprinted in my mind.

No matter what happens on a case, I always end in the same location: A low warehouse somewhere along the canal. It has some small, slit windows at the top of the walls, but otherwise possesses only one entrance: a door facing the canal. I enter the warehouse, searching for something or someone relating to the case I'm working at the time. It's dark, and as far as I can tell, empty. I walk confidently to the center, where I can barely make out a hanging light bulb, and pull the chain to turn it on. As the warehouse fills with the dim light I discover that I am now surrounded by a collection of monstrous beasts or heavily muscled mafia-men. That's when I wake up.

When I first started dreaming this, at the end of my dream my face paled and I cringed away from the surrounding horrors. However, as my dream went on I would come to expect what lay on the other side of the door and in the darkness yet to be illuminated. I would enter fearfully and trembling. Then even that would fade. I recall that one time I gained a bit of lucidity during the dream. I realized I was waking up, and so instead of providing myself with an in-dream reason to show up there, I simply appeared before the steam-shrouded door. Knowing what lay on the other side, I stepped in confidently and turned on the light, I suppose knowing I would wake up upon sight of the beasts within. After that, Lucid or not, my dream self began to take to the warehouse with the easy confidence I showed elsewhere in my escapades in Steam City. Shortly thereafter I stopped dreaming about it. I do recall now that I dreamed it once again in high school several years later. The details of the dream adventure were unclear this time, where before I would remember every action I took upon waking. This time it was just that I was back in Steam City on a case, I did stuff, and I ended up confidently back at the warehouse at the end. I'm not sure what the dream was teaching me, but maybe I needed to be reminded of the lesson? o_O The dream hasn't come back since.

The Island: Approximately early 2006

I usually don't recall my dreams for more than a few days after they occur, and they rarely repeat themselves. So this dream is odd because I’ve only had it once, really (you might say twice, but I’ll get to that in a moment) and yet it remains startlingly clear. Also, its very very detailed, more so than almost any dream I’ve ever had elsewhere.

I am my girl persona at about 18 or 19, and I’m accompanied by a group of mixed-gender friends whose faces and identities are unimportant, so they have no real relation to anyone I know. We appear in the air above the ocean. I do mean we appear, not that the dream begins there as if we had a reason to be there; there’s nothing but air, and then there’s us, looking down at the water below in startlement as we suddenly plummet to the warm waves. We hit the water (I’m certain there’s no way I would survive in real life from a fall that high) and emerge sputtering. We’re not far from a sheltered bay, so we splash our way over to the beach. Uncertain of where we are or what we’re doing here, we set up camp. The small bay and beach meld into a roughly flat, circular spot of ground a few football fields in diameter covered in oak woods. This spot is surrounded by a bluff that rises about it on all sides that are not already bordered by water. I seem to recall that we built ourselves some canoes, and then we sat on the rocky beach and made a campfire. We started talking about some random things; Landing here was a surprise at the time, but all in all it doesn’t seem to be too life shocking for us.

As we sit, I look over to the bluff and spot the figure of a long haired boy astride a black charger looking down at us, silhouetted by the moon. This guy: Link! . I drew that picture shortly after the second experience on the island. Yes, he needs a shirt, and my poor artistic skills at the time made him look younger than his actual 20-22 range. He didn’t wear a shirt in my dream, though, so I didn’t draw it =P. I climb the bluff to talk to him.

My friends notice me walking away but don’t seem too worried about me going off alone or approaching this odd stranger who’s been watching us. They just look over at me as I leave, look back at each other, and continue their conversation. I find the fellow, a 20-22 aged boy with tan skin and long, silvery hair he pulls back in a braid that reaches his waist. On the other side of the bluff I see long, rolling plains with tall grass and the distant outline of mountains. In the grass lies a huge herd of horses, all of multiple colors.

I befriend the fellow, who’s very nice and fascinated by me in an odd, quiet way. He watches me the same way he says he regularly sits and watches the horses from this bluff, like one would watch a flower bloom or the sun set, but without the awe that often accompanies such instances; only a quiet, confident calm. I find this intriguing. Also, he reveals to me that he can speak with these horses, and he lives alone with this herd and the black charger, his faithful friend and companion. Time passes in that odd way it does in dreams, and many days are compressed into moments that I spend sitting on the bluff, talking with the soft-spoken horse lover. He reveals to me that we’re on an island. The plains before us dotted with small wood copses make up the southern tip where few people seem to venture, and the mountains beyond that are were there are some snow-enshrouded settlements.

The scene changes when I sense an apparent danger coming. In desperation I need to run, run far away from here. My friends sense the unaccounted for danger as well, but merely stand anxiously around the fire looking up at the bluff in worry for me, as if they have nothing to fear from it themselves. I try to explain the need to the horse-speaker. I expect him to look at me strangely, but he merely nods acceptingly, though its clear he doesn’t understand my sudden need to leave quickly. In a surprise move he calls out to the herd. Up until this point in my dream I haven’t heard him speak with a horse. Now he does so, and I find that its not so much speaking as it is singing. He sings this beautiful song that I only perceive, and don’t hear, as if it is sung just beyond the range of my ears, much like a dog whistle can often be perceived but not heard. Out of the herd of horses emerges a beautiful all white mare, who rides effortlessly up the bluff and straight to him. He stands there for a moment, stroking her and continuing his harmonic communion while I and his black charger look on with a sense of awe. Finally the communion breaks and the mare turns to me. He explains that she is now mine, as surely as his black charger is his. Though I can’t speak with her as he can she will learn to understand me and my signals.

We mount the horses and he leads us dashing down the slope of the bluff and into the sea of grass. The herd pricks up their ears and follow us and we move across the plains, riding like the wind. That seems cliché to say, but its true: these two strong horses easily outpace the rest of the herd, even though they are mounted, and we fly from the anonymous, approaching danger towards the mountains. There we leave the horses, as the rough terrain would be too hard for them, and he and I ascend the slope through a rough pass towards a strange natural formation. The ground is snowy here. The formation we’re approaching is like a reverse corkscrew leading down into the island’s depths: shelves of rock form a precariously curving path deeper into the island. At the top of the corkscrew stands a small shack against which some old, round metal sleds are leaned against. We grab the sleds and as quickly as we can we begin to slide down the path of the shelf-lined hole in the island.

Despite the scary, approaching danger, the run on the horses has invigorated me, and the sledding experience as we make an effort to keep ourselves on the path and not fall to our dooms makes me laugh. As we near the bottom I see that the shelves lead into a carved cave pathway beneath the mountains, covered on the bottom with ice. Just before we enter the cave, though, I look up. Floating in the sky in the center of the hole is a man, and I instantly sense that this is the danger I’ve been running from. He radiates a devilish sort of power. He’s extremely handsome, with shoulder length black hair and red eyes. He’s dressed appropriately for the cold in a long coat lined in white fur, and he floats there under his own power, looking down at me and smirking just as we disappear from his view and into the cave. I worry for my friends on the beach, who I seem to think rather helpless.

The cave goes for some distance at a slight, ice-covered slope, and exits on a snow covered valley in the mountains. We skid for some distance after our great speed and stop a few yards from a cobblestone, brick houses village. And that’s where the dream ends.

Despite the clarity of the dream and the continued remembrance of it, I haven’t dreamt of the horse boy or the demon boy again, nor can I recall a time in which I ever did so previous to this dream. I did, once, visit the island again, some months after the original dream. I was lucid right at the beginning of the dream, and stood on the beach, watching my friends and I fall into the water. I knew it wasn’t actually happening this time, more like I was watching a hologram of the event being replayed. The actual island was empty, as far as I went. I walked up to the empty bluff and remembered talking with the horse boy, walked across the empty, waving plains remembering the herd of horses and the ride across the grass. I climbed the path and looked down into the hole and at the cave at the bottom, remembering the man and the sled ride. I didn’t take the journey to the bottom of the hole or through the cave to the village, though there were sleds available. I simply spent a good deal of the dream standing at the top of the hole, morosely replaying the final sled ride and the appearance of the demon man over and over again, recalling the feeling of riding down the hill. I haven’t visited the island since, though I’ve wanted to. I want to find the mare again, and ride her, and discover what happened to the horse-boy. One day, I’d like to learn from him how to talk to the horses like he does. I’m not sure I want to find out more about the demon fellow, though. Then again, maybe I do….o_O

When I was held captive by aliens and married their King: November 30th, 2007.

This is the dream I had last night, which prompted me to research more about controlling dreams, in an effort to return to it. It was an interesting setting.

It began in this play village in the foothills of the mountains. On these rolling, grassy hills, a sort of theme park had been constructed; rather, it was more like a massive playground. My family and I, in my girl persona, went there. I was about 16-17. My younger sister was about 6 (in reality she would have been four years older) and my 5 year old brother was the same age as in real life. We were also visiting it with our friends who live out of state, (whom I shall call the Hernandos), and their two boys, as well as younger versions of their estranged older son and daughter who no longer live with them.

The playsets on the playground were designed to look like houses and miniature castles, as if it was a village just for playing in. It was all made of wood and reminded me of those backyard forts people sell. We walked around, and all the young children had a blast running in and out of the maze-like village and discovering the secret toys and play areas hidden within the climbable wooden sets. I, who was a little too old to feel the need to play in such areas, took to enjoying the nice day and following the parents about as they in turn followed the rambunctious youngsters, partially listening in to the current topic of conversation, partially in my own thoughts (as is often my habit at such events).

Clouds overshadowed the sky. There were odd flashes of light, as if people were flicking light switches on and off, though there were no light switches in the village as the sets were roofed with cloth and designed to be played with during the day. People started screaming and running. I couldn’t find the kids, they seem to have disappeared. I, unnoticed by the adults in the commotion, ducked into one of the playsets and started making my way through the village while trying to avoid any of the paths, in the hopes of finding out what was going on.

There were a few shops and things for the adults in the center of the village, and I found myself in a souvenir shop, entering through the back door. There were huge windows on the front, and from here I could see that most of the main path in the park had already been cleared of people. I stood behind the counter in the back, hearing screams and the cries as people tried to find their relatives in the commotion. The place was quite dark, and the shadows of the happy souvenirs were somehow menacing in the dimness. And that’s when the alien came.

I couldn’t describe the alien to you if I tried. I recall that I found them both beautiful and repulsive, much in the way that the Elites from halo are both elegant and repulsive. I would not call them attractive. I do know that they were green, smaller than me, non-humanoid and that there were some tentacle-like appendages. This particular alien had a nasty grin on his face that made me instantly realize that he was probably a mean sort. He was walking down the path, but as he crossed in front of the shop he paused, as if sensing me, and turned to face me. I, like an idiot, hadn’t hidden behind the counter, only stood behind it. We locked eyes, and he broke through the glass easily.

He (how it was a he I’m not certain) spoke in a garbled, hissing English, said something menacing and reached for me. Frightened, I raised my hand and attempted to conjure a ball of fire. It seemed to not conflict in my mind that I would be using magic here, against an alien. I didn’t succeed. Nothing emerged from my outstretched hand, and I looked at the back of it, shocked that it could have failed me so. The alien laughed. It pointed out the door commandingly. Realizing that I was at a disadvantage without my magic, I followed its directions. We walked across the street to one of the restaurants. The place apparently served beer to some of the older patrons of the park who wanted to get drunk while their kids played on the playground, because there were a few red-faced fellows who seemed to think having an alien in the room was as normal as ever. Walking over to one of the tables, the alien grabbed a bit of hot sauce and handed it to me, commanding me to drink it. Uncertain, I put a few drops on my tongue. He moved towards me menacingly again, though I half perceived this as an act, and in an automatic reaction I tried to once again attack him with magic. This time I succeeded in generating a small fireball that bounced harmlessly off of him, but somehow this made him happy. He burbled incoherently, snaked a tentacle appendage out, and wrapped it around my arm. There was a bright flash of light and I was gone.

I wish I could say that was the end to the oddities. But it wasn’t. I appeared above the playground park on a hill. There was a massive spaceship hovering over the dark clouds that covered the park, which I could see from my vantage point. Next to me sat a chain of small, hovering mini-van like vehicles. There were also a bunch of other people, all between the ages of 15 and 25. Aliens were there, ushering us into the vans, and I found myself stuck in a window seat of one at the end. The other kids were worried and slightly panicky, but I could only wonder at the futility of the situation and brood over what might happen next. Once it seemed all the minivans were filled, they lifted into the air like a train and easily exited the atmosphere, the spaceship following them. I could see us meet up with other minivan trains and ships, and we all moved through space.

Now begins something interesting that’s never happened to me before. Mid-dream, I switched personas and started dreaming I was my male persona, at about the same age as my female one in this dream. The dream had fast forwarded a few weeks. I, along with many other young people and my female persona, had been grabbed by the aliens and taken into space. We had made it to an orbiting station above their planet, where we had been allotted rooms to stay in and told we were permitted only in certain places. The area was crowded with aliens, most of which took paths that let them observe us without interacting with us. We felt like zoo animals. Those few who found there way down usually spoke good English, or whatever other language one of the humans in the group happened to speak. And its from them we learned a great many things.

This race had for some time discovered humans on earth, and been watching us. Seeing us technologically weaker, they planned to invade us and colonize our planet. But before they could finish finalizing the invasion plans, a more peaceful King took his father’s throne and tried to put a stop to it. He and many others saw us as fellow sentients, whereas others didn’t care. The military kept pushing for him to continue the invasion, but he refused. He thought up the idea to take a wife from among the humans that were about his age. He sent some of the military in with orders to nonviolently search the planet for humans of the right age with strong energy, apparently something the aliens can innately sense. Most of the kids taken had the potential to use magic, though few knew how. Those who could display the power were especially wanted, as such a gift was prized among the aliens. The King would observe them and choose from those taken one to marry.

I was a little confused. I was, after all, a boy now. I wasn’t about to become anyone’s wife. They had to explain that marriage for them was different: mating and marriage were two separate things. Marriage was more like entering a lifelong business partnership. It formed a magical, unbreakable bond between the bearers, and gave the ‘spouse’ equal social status, as if they were acting with all the authority of their spouse. So candidates were always taken from both genders to find the best and most worthy one among them. I could see the advantages of this. The King obviously wanted to immerse his people with the idea of humanity as equals in order to halt the invasion completely, so he would take the first step and make a human his equal. It still made me feel weird, though. Plus everytime I tried to explain to the aliens about the human concept of marriage they looked at me very, very funny.

I met my female persona on the ship in the dining area. She was now just a character in the dream, rather than me. She had easily become accustomed to the idea of the whole situation, welcomed it, even, once she realized they weren’t going to be flayed, eaten, or dissected. We talked, and I discovered that of all of us she had a very level head. She helped explain to all the other humans how important it was we try to help stop the invasion, too, if we got the chance. Sometimes, we would spend the long, empty days in the space station together, sitting at a table looking at the aliens who were observing us, knowing that among them was probably their king, and also many others who would more easily slit our throats than watch us marry him.

The announcement finally came one day that the King had chosen his bride. It was my female persona! A huge ceremony was held. I could see, watching the ceremony, the difference between their form of marriage and ours, and was incredibly pleased. I had secretly fallen in love with my female self, and was glad it would not be breaking some taboo to one day marry her the human way. However, during the ceremony the objecting military attacked in an effort to stage a coup! The King called forward all the humans from the group that he would trust, and I was among them. He was going to lead the remaining military against the rebels. His ‘wife’, as his equal in power, would be asked to help evacuate certain key points in space and on the surface and lead the people against the rebels. Everyone else was given a special mission. Mine was to take a secret item to a hidden, underwater base in the planet’s ocean using a tricked out alien submarine. I was, needless to say, stoked. We were dismissed to do our jobs, and that’s when I woke up.

I want to visit it again…XD I want to see what happens next! This dream is just so wild.

Well. Thats the dreams I wanted to record. Now I'm off to drink lots of water and see if that wakes me up often enough in the night to record some of my other dreams. *yawns* this is late for me, but I get to sleep in tommorrow. So I should get plenty of lengthy hours of sleep in. ^_^

I had two interesting dreams last night. They both, in some way, related to the subject of dreams, which I thought was interesting. It was probably because I really concentrated on remembering my dreams before bed this time and so that may have effected the subject of the dreams. I also did wake up and remember 2 or 3 more dreams, but they were not distinct. Rather, they were like subconscious attempts to return to the dream setting of the first dream. I didn’t intend on trying to go back there after I woke up the first time, but I kept trying to on my own anyways. Those dreams never even had much of a setting or plot, they just tended to become a mishmash of random images after waking, so none of those three were recorded. I just returned to sleep after waking up.

The Canyon of the Giant Rabbit Tribe: December 1st, 2007

The first dream I recorded was about 3 hours into my sleep cycle, and I woke up because my throat was dry. It was an odd dream, in which I was something entirely other than my two common personas. There was a collection Giant bunnies, of which I was one. I was a boy bunny that was all black with white markings on my rear left leg and a white spot on my forehead. These bunnies were all perhaps twice as tall as a man when they stood on their hind legs.

We lived with a collection of Native Americans in a desert near this huge canyon. The Native Americans were clearly such, however they dressed in Meiji era Japanese outfits. The dream related to the general study of dreams in that The Native Americans we lived with believed that dreams were a portal to another spiritual land, and Dreamers, people who had learned how to control their dreams, were highly admired people. The bunnies (of which I was one, remember) were sacred creatures that lived with Dreamers in the real world as companions and guides to a certain one.

My partner was a young boy who dressed in a black warriors outfit much like those Shinigami wear in Bleach. He had black hair that reached the middle of his shoulder blades that he tied with some string and a large bead near the end of it to keep it out of his face.

The part of the dream I remember is that we found two legendary Japanese style swords made by an old sword smith who was now living like a hermit in a cave in the side of the canyon. The swords were powerful and needed to be returned to the sword smith now that they were no longer being used. I don’t know what powers they had or why they were no longer being used by their original owner. My partner and I stood on the edge of the canyon, he with the swords, I with a makeshift saddle which he could use to keep himself strapped to my back when I went running. I sat there, nose twitching as we examined the canyon below us. We discussed the best way to get down to the cave the smith supposedly lived at, and then he mounted the saddle and I used my great agility to help us down the canyon wall.

We made it to the cave and discovered the smith within. He was an old, grey haired Caucasian fellow. The cave was small, so after my partner dismounted I changed into a human form. I was also a Caucasian male, dressed similarly to my Dreamer partner except that my outfit was black on the bottom and white on the top. The old man was angry we had come at all and wouldn’t speak with us. His cave was small and had a small turn from the entrance into a room-sized cavern where he had dug out a forge with a chimney out and also a bed. On the wall above the bed lay many carved niches in the stone of sword shapes, places where his creations were supposed to rest.

The smith didn’t want the swords. He sais he was done with swords and he didn’t care if something bad happened now that the swords weren’t with their owners. After some pleading conversation, and the fact that the onery old fellow seemed to respect Dreamers even if he was a little grumpy, we convinced him to return to the swords to their stone niches on his wall where they would lay, safe and harmless. After that we moved to the outside. There was apparently a third sword to the set (the first two we turned in had been a Wakizashi (short sword) and a Tanto (dagger). A full length Katana was also supposed to be part of the set and we were going to go off and find it when I woke up.

Bakery: December 1st, 2007

The second, latest dream I can recall Was the last dream I had just before waking for the last time and getting up to write this. My family and I, as my female persona at about 17 years of age, ran a bakery and performance center on the outskirts of a large city. The shop faced a cliff that overlooked the ocean. It had a large gravel parking lot behind it and the whole thing was surrounded by waving beach grass. It sits with a couple shops whose fronts run along the cliff; it is apparently a popular walking path with many benches to sit in and look out at the water, so there are a few other shops there as well. Ours is a two story shop, with old colonial style architecture. There’s a large front porch covering the front of the shop, tall windows looking in from the porch on the interior. There's a bar next to the door when you walk in and several shelves running along the wall behind it, only instead of liquor these are covered with tasty culinary confections baked in the kitchen that hides itself through a door in the side wall behind the counter. It smells delicious.

Colonial furniture coats the interior, with curved, padded chairs seating around small round tables that face a stage at the far rear of the room. The windows on the back wall facing the parking lot are always covered over with heavy maroon curtains. The front windows have a matching pair, but these are always pulled to the side to let in the view, even at night. On either side of the stage are two curving staircases that lead up to the galleries above. More tables sit there on the second floor overlooking the stage. A large chandelier hangs down the center of the room, even with the floor of the galleries.

On the stage, my mother, my sister (who is about 14 in this dream) and I take turns singing for our customers. We sing all sorts of songs, from classics to religious to others. My father and my brother, who is aged to about 10 in this dream, work as bakers and waiters for the customers of the shop, as do the rest of us when it’s not our turn to sing.

My interest in dreams in this one came in the form of a story collector. I am always collecting stories about things that interest me in real life, so this time I was asking customers for stories about interesting dreams that they’ve had. I would hold contests, in which people could submit stories about dreams and the one I liked the most would get to request a song from my on their next visit as well as get a special treat that I had baked for them personally for free. For one of the last contests I made a delicious baker’s yeast French bread (a recent baking accomplishment that I made for a French class assignment) and in another I made a pumpkin Cake (a delicious looking dish I saw at a Joe Muggs shop in the local Books-a-Million a few days ago but never personally tasted).

There was also another woman in the dream. She had some relation to me outside of the shop, like she was a teacher of mine or some such thing, and she was interested in my dream story collection as well as my culinary pursuits. She was about 30, and though you could tell she was 30 she looked a bit younger, too. She was tall, skinny, dressed in a short brown coat, black pants, and had short, brown-black hair and dark brown eyes. Here skin was pale like mine. I met her outside the shop once and we talked about dreams, and then another time she was on the porch of our shop looking at some of the day old bread loaves we had on display there, wrapped in plastic wrap. I gave her a half loaf of some of the baker’s yeast bread, and invited her in to look at a slice of the pumpkin cake that was sitting on display at the end of the bar. After that I woke up.

I think it’s interesting. I recently did my first solo baking project without my dad (the resident cooking expert) helping, and it was that baker’s yeast bread assignment for French class. It came out tasty, so I’m eager to make it again and turn it in for a grade. I thought about it, and I thought that it would be really nice to open a bakery when I was done with college. Nothing like the one in my dream, but I’ve been considering it. All in all it was a pleasant dream to end the night with.

I’ve rarely tried to do any recall of my dreams before. Those cases when its happened have just…happened. It seems interesting that the first time I did try to do some recall of my mid-night dreams I succeed. I hope I can meet with as much success later on…>_>

Reccuring Steam City eh? That sounded a little eerie..such a unique place to be formed in your head..I find it interesting that you were an agent or completed assignments there..your descriptions here made me shiver..I've read books that describe places like this...

The island setting dreams..wow again..that sounds visually stunning. I did my best to visualize what you might have seen and it's absolutely incredible..You spoke of the bluffs, the feilds, the different climates and the ocean (falling all that way must have hurt, eh?) and each of them sticks out in my mind...each of these settings for you seems to go so deep..with such detail, it's amazing. For some reason, the portion about the handsome stranger got me nostalgiac and sad..perhaps because he may represent a dream guide (?)...i've never found mine yet :(...The sequence on the island when you go down the shelved spiraling path sounded a bit frightening and treacherous as well...a very surreal experience ending with the image of that guy floating....yikes, looking up and seeing a face or body is something that always scares me...:shock:..in a dream.

The alien dream!!!! my god that is an epic!! From the playground to the orbiting station..like a science fiction novel of sorts...when you descibe how the small fireball made the alien happy in the bar i laughed...heh. Also in the station when talking about marriage with the aliens and your description of what they beleived marriage to be..wow, that was humorous. This really, really did resemble a science fiction book of sorts with the goal to stop the invasion always on your mind...:) Well written, again..it really gets all the elements of the dream across.

Hehe...the bakery dream. That one was kinda silly as well, but very fun to read. Your description of the visual aspects was stunning as well...Hey, if I come to your dream bakery, will you sing me a song and make me a pastry? I would be forever in your debt...haha..Interesting how your dreaming interest made an appearence there..

Again in this bunny/tribe dream..your descriptions..you've got a knack for this. Obviously the idea of dreaming is getting through..an animal companion of sorts as a guide in your dreams...the people here have a deep respect for dreamers, even the crabby smithy guy..you've got lots of potential. I'm glad he took back the swords (except for that one you wanted to look for)...would have caused lots of trouble eventually...dream trouble and violence..

I'm glad you like them, even if they are a bit lengthy. I really only remember certain images in detail...Standing on the beach, or on the bluff, or at the end of the counter next to the pumpkin cake. But I think about it and combine the small images into a setting before I try to write it all down, so it ends up being very detailed and cohesive. They fit together nicely like a puzzle, though there are usually a few gaps. Like the path between the plains and the corckscrew-hole-pass-cave. I know it was arduous, but I don't really remember anything of it.

These ones I've recorded are interesting in that they stay in one setting and plot the whole way. ^^ I'd have to say about half of my dreams are that way, while the others are either random senseless mishmash (stuff that doesn't make sense, even in the case of a dream where random occurances happen regularily) or cases where my attention often diverts to many side stories and doesn't complete just one. I want to try and record one of those, because they can sometimes be interesting, but they're very hard to remember. Sometimes I wake up knowing I had one, but all I can recall of it is a mishmash dream, so maybe all my mishmash dreams are just distracted ones. ^^;

Arduous yes..hehe, but worth the read ;) I know what you mean by fitting it together...all the little bits..even if it's not exactly as it appeared to you in the dream, it is a bit easier to read.

Yeah..what you call mish-mash might very well be bits and peices of a long, epic dream like these ones you posted...I often wonder if I'm getting anywhere near the full extent of my dreams..and I conclude.."probably not".

In fact, this minute, i'm rather distraught that I may not be remembering close to the amount that is recalled at one point during the night and then forgotten...I used to have dozens of epic dreams like these ..but not so much anymore..either they're not remembered or my mind breaks them up..They're here and there but not a steady set of enthralling dreams like these.:?..eh, maybe tonight's my night.

Anyway.
I'd record even your mish-mash ones..even on pad and paper and then tranferred here..that's what I do. It might help you see progress and perhaps some reccuring themes..even without a plot..and above all..amusing the reader and interesting them :D

This was the first dream for tonight, which I awoke to recall two hours into my sleep cycle. However, its slightly disturbing, and it won’t leave my head, so I sit here now in my living room in the dark hoping that typing it up in detail will make it leave so I can return to sleep. I’ve been up for an hour, I suppose thirty more minutes or so won’t make much of a difference.

Leo and the Giant Gator: December 2, 2007

This dream was set in a southern style city, probably somewhere a little like Georgia. There were hard bits of rocky ground all over the countryside interspersed with swampy bogs and reedy, muddy valleys. There was a college in the dream I never visited, and a zoo with a huge public library filled with animal reference books and featuring a nice café on the side. I lived here with my mother. I was my current age of 21, but with long hair as my female persona. Also, my ex boyfriend (whom I shall call Leo) played a part in it. He wasl also 21 and lived in the city with his dad, a man I’ve never met, and a sixish year old younger sister who doesn’t really exist in Reality. Leo was clean shaven, and we were attending the college together and, of course, dating. It was nice to be back to dating him in the dream so I didn’t really question it and never gained lucidity because of it.

Leo and I had to research the Giant Alligators who lived in our city’s surrounding countryside swamps. I call it a city but it was more like a very large town than a small city. It was easy for us to get out to the country and back into the city and the zoo, where we spent most of our time. During the first part of the dream we went out to country looking for the Giant Alligators, but we couldn’t find any. We needed to get something from them but I wasn’t sure what, exactly. In between trips to the country we spent time working on the research at the zoo library. Leo’s dad often showed up and annoyed us because he wasn’t really happy we were together, and my mom often visited the café with her friends (though thankfully they ignored us).

Finally we decided that there was no way we could find a wild one anymore and we would have to collect our sample from the alligator that the zoo had in a pen just outside the library. However, Leo was very anxious as he couldn’t go inside for some reason. He wanted to, he was very scared for me to go in alone and get the sample we needed, but he couldn’t for some reason. If he could have, I’m sure he would have snuck in alone to the Giant Alligator pen when I wasn’t looking, but as it stood I was the only one who could make it in.

His sister, who overheard us talking, came over wearing what I can only describe as ‘bowl armor.’ It was like you had taken ceramic bowls, cut out the bottoms of them, and taped them together all over her arms, legs, and abdomen. The bowls were apparently unbreakable, and therefore she would be okay, and she would go in Leo’s place to help me out. Leo refused, and I was uncomfortable with the idea, but there was no stopping his sister, so we got permission from the zookeepers to go into the pen and went in. Leo stood by as we waded into the muck towards the far end, where the Giant Alligator (perhaps 20 feet long) was waking up at the noise of us in his pen. If he couldn’t go in and we wouldn’t listen to him to stop, he was going to help direct us from the sidelines.

Leo’s dad showed up and started yelling things at us about how stupid we were being, and Leo pushed him down and told him to shut up, he was ruining everything! My mom and her friends sat in the café and watched the proceedings with mild interest. I had little fear for myself (even though I was unarmored, but I had a lot of fear and worry for Leo’s sister. She was confident, though. Leo shouted directions as we dodged the gator in his pen and tried to wrestle him.

I had a tool I can only call a Gator Guitar Case. It was perfectly shaped to fit the Giant Gator inside, and sized just for this one, too. It looked exactly like a Giant Gator-shaped hardshell guitar case that you zipped up. I managed to wrestle the gator into the case and get it mostly zipped up, how I don’t exactly remember. In the process, we had ended up on the other side of the pen from where the gator was originally, and were sinking in this pit of mud and goop. I was trying to zip the rest of the case closed, but I couldn’t get the Gator to close his mouth. Leo’s sister tried to help.

Leo started screaming something from the outside of the pen, and we looked up at him. The gator bucked and rolled and pitched us off the guitar case. Though it wasn’t able to really get out, it was able to spasm around and ended up facing us. Leo was screaming and frantic, trying to get in to us to help but stopped by some invisible force field, and his dad was out there too, worried for us now that it looked like we might be eaten. Leo’s sister tried to get the last of the case zipped up while I was still trying to pull myself out of the mud, and the gator’s mouth managed to clamp on to her armor.

She wasn’t damaged, but now it had her bowl-armored hand in its mouth it wasn’t going to let go, so it started death rolling in the mud and shaking her around so she was flying about in the air. She had the shocked expression on her face but she was relatively calm, and I was trying to get to her to help but the mud kept sucking at me so I couldn’t move. The Gator came by in a roll into the mud and I had to jump out of it onto the pen's fencing to get out of the way. On the fence one of those dangrous, red yellow and black snakes was crwling over into the pen from the snake pit next door, so I jumped back down in the mud to escape it. Then I woke up.

It started out very nice, with me and Leo sharing scholarly and romantic pursuits, but I ended up waking like a nightmare. I remember that there were a few points in the dream where me and leo changed sceneray and purpose for a few moments, like we were in venice looking for something else, and then would appear back in the countryside just as suddenly and continue on our Giant Gator hunt as if nothing had happened. I'm not sure what all happened in those disappearnces, only that they occured. It was very strange.

I think it's good you recorded it..maybe that will help clear your mind.

Your task, to collect a sample from a wild alligator. K, that's for you, not me :p...Hmm, and then Leo's six year old sister goes in?! with..erm-- ceramic armor..oh my, what a concoction..Something tells me that might not work perfectly IRL ;).

That action sequence was quite exciting...trapping a 20 foot gator in a guitar case...hahhah, I don't know.. Ohh, it appears Leo's little sister was protected by the ceramic bowls..they work!

I don't like muck/goop/quicksand..sorry you wound up in one of those thick muddy pits..no less with the aligator there, and then the snakes on the fense...I understand what you mean by it ending as a sort of nightmare..with that classic feeling..not fun.

It's clear it started out pretty well in the setting you described and then took a turn for the worse...

Anyway, I know what you mean when you speak of the jumping back and forth of the dream, to Venice (?) you said...I get that alot too and it's rather hard to tell what really happened, it's like a movie almost with a whole bunch of stories going at once.

It seemed to work well, I was finally able to go back to sleep. Just woke up after recording another. While also strange, this one isn't as serious or strong in my mind so I should be able to get back to bed now for my last few hours and get away with just recording the major details on paper. I'll Recall the rest of it in detail later tommorrow.

The guitar case was my favorite. I think I almost attained Lucidity when I was trying to wrestle his mouth shut with it, as I suddenly looked down and went...WTF? Is this an...alligator shaped guitar case? But he was rolling his eyes madly and snapping his jaws, and then Leo shouted something, so it never stuck.

I have no idea where the ceramic armor came from, but I wish Leo's sister had stayed well out of it, as the whole dream was soured. XD Little siblings sour their older siblings dates, even when they aren't real.

I think it was venice we transported to...the location, and the task we were doing there, seemed so unimportant that I couldn't recall it afterwards, just that we had gone off.

I keep trying to recall what it was we were supposed to get from the gator. It seemed so desparately important at the time that it set the whole dream in motion, but try as I might I couldn't (and still can't) remember. It was probably something ridiculous, like a tooth. One of my tasks if I ever get some lucidity is to go back to that zoo and shoot the damn thing with a tranquilizer. -_-

Snow City Composer : December 2nd, 2007

The dream was kinda interesting, though nothing like my others…it started in one location, but changed partway through. If I hadn’t written some key points down I would have forgotten all of it, XD...It started three hours after I finally went to sleep from my dream about Leo and the Aligators.

I was my male persona, and I looked about 25. I was in a kitchen with a woman, who was either my mother or my wife…It was hard to see details about her, and I’m fairly certain that my wife DC and my mother DC switched in and out at random points through the conversation.

We were in a kitchen that was like an old 60s kitchen. My wife/mother DCs were wearing those uncomfortable knee length polka dot dresses and they had their hair done up in curls and hair spray. Both were blond, so they had no relation to my real mother, and of course, I’m not really married to anyone XD.

I was in a business shirt with a maroon and black striped tie and black dress pants, drinking coffee and reading the newspaper and trying to ignore what my wife/mother was alternatively saying. After a while we agreed to let the matter we were arguing about sit for the day while we thought about it and I left the house. There was warm sunshine coming in through the kitchen window, but I put on a heavy wool overcoat like the one my dad has and a scarf and walked out into a cold, mild snowfall. Our house was apparently in some place really north and really cold, with lots of old stone architecture.

I walked through a city crowded with coat-clad pedestrians and to a train station, where I got on a train to go to another city. I went to the same car, like I apparently did all the time, and met some other same aged boys. We were all apparently students at a college in another city, and were going to go to class today for a huge artistic event later in the night, honoring artists. Another boy and myself had an argument about the merits of a certain composer, whose name escapes me. We decided to each do a tribute to the composer for the artists’ event, and whichever one was better received at the artist event that night would win. So we arrived at a city not so different from the one we left, and we got off the train and went on our way.

I canvassed the city for all sorts of things about the artist. It was some made up composer, and somehow pegasi had something to do with him, like he had written a composition titled Pegasus or something. So I rented two horses and used this wire setup with feathers to make it look like one had huge white wings and the other had huge black wings. I wanted to do more, but I was out of money.

I went to the convention place where everyone was setting up, kinda bummed out and certain I wasn’t going to win the bet because of my lack of funds. There was a security guard for the convention there and he approached me. Apparently one of the other passengers had overheard the argument and bet and told the security guy, thinking that we might all go overboard with our bet. The guard was mounted, and I was on one of the horses, and we stood in the convention center and he was berating me for doing this and making sure that I wasn’t going to do anything showy or stupid to detract from the convention. :? Apparently he was afraid about wild parties and chicks, though that had nothing to do with the bet, and he wanted to make sure there were no girls going to be attending the convention. I felt kinda childish and ashamed at what he was saying, so my persona de-aged to about 10 or 11 there on the back of that horse and was looking down at the ground to avoid looking at the guard. That was when I woke up.

My Little Pony Mishmash : December 2nd, 2007

This dream hardly made sense. I barely remembered it to record the major details, but I motivated myself and managed.

I started out as an observer. Aladdin and Jasmine lived in this house, and Aladdin had a bunch o friends over to watch football. Jasmine was really angry with him because he had left a pizza box full of ash on the floor of their bedroom. Aladdin tried to explain that it was magical ash, and it would make more ash and more ash forever if you rubbed some of it together. He showed her and Jasmine got really excited because it was a magical item (even if it was a pizza box full of ash) and maybe they could sell it for some money. They didn’t look well to do, they lived in a cheap rancher-style house with really bad wallpaper.

The doorbell rang, and Aladdin and Jasmine disappeared (though they left the pizza box…). I stepped into the dream as my girl persona at about 20, and now it was my house, and someone was at the door. I walked up and found a young girl dressed in a leotard and skirt as if she had come over from ballet practice. She asked if I still had her purple Pegasus My Little Pony doll.

Apparently, I had dreamed about something like this before, because I remembered another case where I was as young as she and had invited her over with a bunch of others for a My little Pony sleepover. Which is odd, because I watched the MLP tv show when I was a kid, but wasn’t really a diehard fan. I felt ashamed because I had kept the doll I had borrowed from her for all these years and she was just asking for it back now. I walked in and she followed me to the room with the pizza box, were on a shelf of knickknacks there sat the purple Pegasus MLP doll.

I returned it to her and noticed a MLP book on the nightstand. I asked her if it was hers, as well. It had a blue cover and featured a pony my mind came up with on the spot, with white fur and a golden mane called Leo (no relation to the earlier dream). As I handed it to her, I realized she was blind, and couldn’t read it. I said “Nevermind,” and took it back, blushing and knowing she wouldn’t see. So then I offered to help walk her home for her trouble, and she said yes, and we left the room. Then I woke up.

It wasn’t on the level of my other dreams. XD But I suppose worth recording for posterity…

Fragment – Quin’s Dreams: December 3, 2007

This was the first dream I recall from this morning, waking up a few hours into my sleep cycle. It was only a fragmented image and a few thoughts. There was a very detailed, epic side to the dream, but alas I was so desperately tired from my sister keeping me up that I could only manage to recall this image; everything else was lost between the time I told myself to write it down and the time I got my journal from the nightstand, under the pen, and the reading light on.

I was standing in a field of golden wheat-like grass. Behind me I could see rolling, shallow fields of more such grass extending on for some distance until there was a scraggly green tree line of what looked like pines along the horizon. The sky was bright and blue and there were only patchy cumulous clouds above me.

I was my girl persona at about 18. I was in a mech, nothing like Gundams or anything quite so huge. It was one of those ones that looked like it was made for industrial purposes…About twice the size of a human, with an open cockpit and no head. My legs slid in to the upper thighs of the mech, and I had two long joysticks in my hand that controlled the arms.

In front of me stood a bunch of versions of my brother (whom I shall call Quin). Some were little babies, others were adults, some in excess of nearly 30 years, all with a bunch of different expressions and outfits and personalities. Apparently some evil man had stolen all of Quin’s dreams that he had ever or would ever dream and gave the personas from each dream a body. I had to use the mech to capture them and throw them into a basket attached to the mech’s shoulders, and that would turn them back into dreams and I could give them back to Quin.

I’m pretty sure I had chased down a couple of the others of my little bro’s dreams because there was the understanding that the 10 or 15 Quins in front of me were only a small number of the group. I’m also pretty sure that soon after this batch I had to find and fight the guy who did this to Quin, though I can’t remember what happened before or after that scene in detail. I wish I could…It sounded like an interesting dream.

Gina and Jerry’s Gyros : December 3rd, 2007

This was one of the latest dreams. I was in a small restaurant called Gina and Jerry’s Gyros. Gina was this pretty blond woman DC who was in her lat 30s but looked younger, and Jerry was her husband DC, a grey haired handsome fellow who was in his mid-forties but looked a little older. There was this long parking lot area with some fast food places where Gina and Jerry’s Gyros was, and it was right off a major Florida highway because there were all those swampy forest trees that line our Highways (Like driving down some big hallways, the foliage gets so thick). More trees bordered the parking lot. There was a seafood fast food place and a burger joint, and then the building where Gina and Jerry’s was.

Gyros was more like a stand than a restaurant, because the kitchen and counter were all part of one room and all the tables but one were outside. The stand had three counters and three small kitchens, and Gina and Jerry’s had an end stand. The one in the middle was some Mexican woman DC who didn’t like Gina and Jerry at all, and ran her Mexican food stand with her handsome Hispanic son DC who rolled his eyes behind his mom’s back whenever she tried to send an insult about Gina and Jerry his way in Spanish.

Apparently, my two friends and I knew Gina and Jerry pretty well, because we got the good table inside the stand near the kitchen where we could talk to them while they were cooking. They were always very romantic and loving up on one another and kissing, though never doing anything that would tarnish the reputation of their renowned sandwich shop. Though it was only my friends and I there at the time and all the parking lots were empty, I knew the place was often busy.

The two friends who were with me were some DCs I didn’t recognize…A short haired blond jock with a round face I would call cute but not striking, and a girl whose features I can’t recall. I myself was my girl persona, and I guess I was in High School because so were they. I didn’t see myself in third person the way I usually do, so I’m not sure.

We were talking about all sorts of teenager things, and the jock fellow was talking about one time he had gone to the seafood fast food place down the parking lot (past the burger joint, if you remember) and gotten terrible service from one of the guys. Mostly we were just chilling out and waiting for our Gyros. We were apparently good friends, and we liked talking with Gina and Jerry and watching how romantic they still were after all these years of being married.

When my jock friend made that comment about the seafood place I leaned to the side so I could see it through the counter’s window. The highway was deserted and the parking lot was still dreadfully empty. I suddenly realized that I had been here before, and there was a ritzy country club and golf place just down the highway, hidden behind the copse of trees that surrounded the parking lot, and beyond that there was a horse farm. It was some time years and years ago (though in my memory I had still looked like I was in High School) when I was riding a horse and something happened to it and I had to walk over to the country club but no one would help me. Then I woke up.

There was no way that horse thing could have happened in real life, but the memory wasn’t like one of the fabricated ones you find in dreams – I was actually recalling something that happened another time. I can only conclude I must have dreamt the memory about that horse farm and the country club before, back when I –was- in High School. Recalling it probably triggered lucidity, which ended the dream as it sometimes does.

Transformers and Hawaii : December 3rd, 2007

This one was set in Hawaii. Duh. ^_~ Well, it didn’t start there.

It started out that I was a boy (not my usual guy persona, but another guy who looked kinda like him, and I was about eight or so). I was with a bunch of refugees and the earth was in total chaos and we were all hiding out in an old junkyard and warehouse. There was this guy with short black hair who was running the refugee camp who I thought was really cool. I went out to play with a friend of mine who was the same age (I don’t remember many details about him but I think he had red hair) and we were all dressed in rags and we were playing with simple toys in the junkyard area and running around old ruined cars. The warehouse was probably about as big as a tennis court and all the people hid inside it. The adults were always afraid of something, and almost never left if there was some way to avoid it. They spent most of their time huddling miserably inside the warehouse, but we spent our time playing in the junkyard on the side that was probably twice as big and surrounded by a huge fence.

All of the sudden there was dust flying everywhere and I look up and Optimus Prime is flying down to the junkyard, and next to him is a human in a futuristic suit with a motorcycle helmet on, flying with jet boots on his feet. Optimus lands and tries to tell us that its unsafe to play outside, and we should go back in. We run away screaming like mad about a giant robot, and the boy with Optimus looks at us strangely through his helmet.

All of the sudden I’m now that boy…who still isn’t any persona I recall playing before. I turn to Optimus to say something and all of the sudden there’s this rumble and the front wall of the warehouse caves in. Megatron is there, and he hops over the fence and goes up to Optimus.

The camera backs out and now we’re on TV. The TV is brown and the house its in looks old and overgrown with plants. On the TV the boy starts feeling bad because they led Magatron to the refugees, and Megatron jibes at him about how he’s nothing but a sidekick to Optimus, but I’m not the boy anymore, I’m my girl persona at 15 or sixteen walking in through a side door to the room with the TV. I was sharing a house with a couple of other teenagers and we were living in Hawaii. Our house looked like we had let the jungle come in and take over it, because plants were popping out of the walls and the floor and wrapping leafy fronds all over the furniture, but it also looked cultured, like a garden. I looked at the TV as the boy and Optimus started fighting Megatron and asked what was on. A friend of mine, a small girl with tan skin and dark brown hair, said “The second Transformers Live Action Movie. I go to sit down with her on the couch, and I watch us as we watch the movie (an interesting viewpoint).

The next thing I know we’re in some jungle down near a beach. Its been a few days, apparently, and we’re at some seminar talking about ‘the Burmese Mountain Python,’ which was an invasion species that was thriving in Hawaii and how they were going to catch them all and send them back to where they came from (Burma, I’d suppose). I look up in the trees and these pythons are everywhere, though they’re not dangerous to humans. They’re mottled Evergreen in color with tannish yellow bellies, and they have these raised lines all over their bodies, like veins one mammals when we get excited or angry. It's strange and exotic looking, but I think they’re very elegant. I walk away from the group and watch them as many snakes are climbing through the branches or on the floor of the forest and I want to reach out and grab one but I’m afraid, wondering of those networks of raised lines really are veins and they’ll get hurt if I handle them too roughly. Then I wake up.

I don’t know if Burma has mountain pythons, but the dream was sure cool.

Snow City composer...isn't it great what our dreams put together..the incorrect sex, the incorrect organs :P and the incorrect house/setting...good call to wear the coat even though it was sunny..apparently you needed it in the snoy, northern setting...Strange little twist with that convention..now, did you cause trouble there? XD

My little Pony..Well I can't comment on the show, but that was a silly dream...Alladin and Jasmine..WOW..I haven't heard those names in a long time! Don't we all need magic pizza boxes filled with ash? ...I don't know if that would have sold :lol:...the ending of the dream was rather sweet of you, walking the blind girl home.

Transformers and Hawaii..what a little adventure (or ridiculously big ;))..seemed to start of rather morbidly in that warehouse and junkyard but oohhh then transformers..It's a bit confusing yet still interesting how your persona is always changing..the boy and then your yourself but watching the events from before occur on TV..that ALWAYS happens to me..events i've experienced before seem to be occuring within a movie or on a set, or on the t.v itself.. but Hawaii, living with some other folks, in a house, covered in jungle plants...! You're a wild dreamer ;)..the ending was interesting with a conjured up python name...*shudders* wouldn't want to run into one of them (yes, even if harmless:))..

I have a fondness for Gyros..(I only ever had 2 but they were deliicious). I enjoyed your description in the beggining of that dream..quite vivid..I also found it funny when you describe the little boy of the adjacent stand owner..rolling his eyes at his mother's insult attempts. You must have been a special group to have gotten that 1 indoor table..I would have walked out of that unsanitary lovey restaraunt (hehe, jk) ..And the discussion about the jock's experience at the seafood place! Isn't it great the problems and dillemas and thoughts that come to us in dreams...it just stuck me as humorous.

I've never read a dream quite as unique as that last one...I';d like to pilot one of these "mechs".. It was kind of you to make the effort to get your brother's dreams back...we all know value of those..:-)You had me a bit lost with "different versions of my brother" at first, but then I picked up on it.:p..

XD I know where the pizza box came from. The other day I was broiling up some Cinammon Toast in the oven and forgot to check the oven before I started preheating it. There was some pizza in a box leftover from last night and it caught on fire...>_> *whistles innocently.* I dunno why Aladdin and Jasmine showed up, though.

The Burmese Mountain Pythons were actually supposed to be quite friendly...like cats in snake bodies. That's why people got them, to do what cats did and eat all their vermin. But alas, as always happens, such fads become pythons released into the wild when unwanted who start messing up the eco system. Stupid people tormenting everyone with invasion species. We have a lot of foregn species that thrive here, so I have a thing for invasion species. -_- a very bad thing. But despite how odd they looked, I still say there was an exotic elegance about them...

I've actually never had any Gyros. I have no idea what they taste like...XD so I dunno why they came up in my dream. Maybe that's why I never did get to eat my Gyro...I had no idea what to make it taste like.

Thanks for commenting. I still haven't returned to my Cliffside Bakery yet, though with my dreams from last night I may. I had two more dreams set in a setting from another dream I had forgotten, much like Gina and Jerry's Gyros was. I've never had this much recall before, I wonder if my mind is pulling some interesting pieces from previous dreams because I've been so motivated to recall them these past few days? After dreaming about them and remembering the past dream in the same setting I wondered how I could even have forgotten the other ones the first time. I'll recall them in detail in a little while. Have to do some math and Spanish homework and get back hom to where my journal is sitting to make sure I don't miss anything.

These are all I got recorded this afternoon. I have another one I need to write down in detail, but I'll post that later this evening, I suppose.

Fragment : December 4th, 2007

This was the first dream I remember from last night. All I remember was I and my sister (whom I shall call Mey) were babysitting my little brother (who, if you’ll remember, I’m calling Quin) only Quin really was a baby, in nothing but a diaper, and he was crawling all over the house and causing all sorts of trouble and nearly getting himself killed. I had Fairy Godparents, the Fairy Godparents from Fairly Oddparents, Cosmo and Wanda. And Cosmo was doing stupid stuff but it never really was all that effective, so Wanda could focus on helping me and Mey watch Quin and keep him from doing things like flush himself down the toilet. -_-

Big City Aquarium : December 4th, 2007

I’ve dreamed about this place before. It’s set in a big city much like New York, and its in the winter, buts its dry and non-snowy outside, just cold and windy.

There’s this huge aquarium in the city set in downtown. Big highrises all around it and the aquarium is a skyscraper itself, only it has no windows. The tall building is kept very cool because there are a lot of frozen exhibits. The only lighting is from the deep blue lights that light the aquariums…everything else is dark, except sometimes there’s soft running lights along things like stairs that don’t conveniently run by exhibits. Its very beautiful and peaceful and relaxing and happy. Its cold enough that people who know the place always come with a nice warm coat and maybe a hood or earmuffs, but if you dress right the place is very comfortable at that temperature. Even the tropical fish exhibits are cold; the tanks are heated, but the halls for people are still frigid. Its just floors and floors of exhibits about sea animals in that soft lighting and cool air, with black carpeted walls and benches.

The last time I was here was a peaceful dream I barely recall, except the details of the aquarium exhibits. This time I was watching a group of DCs instead. There was this older girl and her adopted younger brother. The girl was skinny with shoulder length, semi-wavy brunette hair. She volunteered in the youth program at the aquarium and her brother went there with her. He was perhaps 10, blond haired and blue eyed.

Apparently, he was adopted into the girl’s family when he was young, too young to really remember. Instead of being born down here, he was part of a tribe of northern warrior nomads, who wore shoes with soles made of hardened leather, and they learned how to move about the ice by skating on the ice with the edge of their shoe soles. He was okay and very cultured, but mischievous. He would sneak into the frozen exhibits with his sister’s pass key to skate around, because it reminded him of his distant childhood he couldn’t really remember. His sister would always have to get them out of trouble.

There were these little slow moving hover crafts that the volunteers could use to get around. The hovercraft looked like a river raft that floated, only it was only 1 seat wide and 2 seats tall, one behind the other. The seat in the back was a passenger only seat and was raised up a little, while the front seat had controls for the driver. They were painted yellow and white and din't make much noise, just a soft hum. The volunteers would race each other in teams on the hovercrafts through the aquarium when they didn't immediately have work to do. Volunteers were always paired as an older kid with a younger kid, so the teams were existing work pairings. The girl and her adopted brother always won everything. I dreamed about a few of the races…they were slow, but you had to think of the quickest way to get from one area to another, so sometimes they flew over river exhibits and up stairs and things. After that one of the administrators of the aquarium, a woman with long, wavy, red-brown hair, invited the brother and sister over to her apartment where she was having a dinner with some of her friends and a few of the other volunteer teams. The sister thought she was pretty hard and cold, a typical businesswoman, and she thought they were being invited over to get a lecture about one of their recent escapades.

The woman lived in a big, rich apartment a few blocks from the aquarium building. Her rooms had soft tan walls and dark wood trimmings, and the color schemes for everything else were dark reds and browns. The silverware at her table was bronze and the bowls and plates and cups that she used were made of turned wood (I always liked those pretty wares made of wood, and hers matched the trim on her house). It was very homey and nice. It reflected the woman’s personality, as she turned out to be very kind, and everyone at the dinner hit it off. The woman just liked to get to know her youth volunteers.

The dream ended as the woman was telling about this dog she had saved, who was there in her apartment. It was a cute little thing that had been in an abusive home, but she had taken care of it and now it wasn't afraid of people and it was fine, though it would always be a bit timid around strangers until iy got to know them better. If I had to describe it I would say that it was a beagle/cocker spaniel mix. It had big sad eyes. The siblings really appreciated then how little they had understood the woman, and decided they liked her a lot and that maybe she wasn't mean just because she didn't like they're more crazy activities. Then I woke up.

It's amazing that you dream up these stories. You can almost "feel" that boy's nostalgia from the north and can recognize what he's doing is reminicing..you have a unique style of dreaming and recording.

I love these little min-plots that you have cropping up all over the place. I get them too, little games and purposes out of nowhere. That sounds like it would have been an interesting museam to visit with all those passageways and stairs and kids of jumping hovercrafts. :p

Your dream recall is amazing and your detail incredible. I wish I could have such dream recall, but I usually only recall enough for a few sentences. I recall very small yet the most interesting parts. BUT i am very frequently lucid. In all these parts I am lucid I realize so many dreams and become lucid but I usually wake up or when i do I Remember becoming lucid but nothing else. I would like your ability to recall as well as my luck with lucidity put together as skills. That would be alot of fun

I was surprised at the fact that the aquarium dream actually ended with an ending, Bro. It did end up being very nice, but there were details about the poor puppy's life I didn't go into here. :whyohwhy: so that kinda soured it for me. But maybe that's why myself went so far as to give the dream an ending, and a happy one at that.

And I must keep my brother out of toilets, yes... >_>

In my last dream from last night...I didn't play a part! Again! I just watched some more DCs do more stuff. But it was interesting, mostly because I recalled a previous dream in the same setting rather vividly whilst I was in the middle of this one. Again.

Getting closer to revisiting the Cliffside Bakery at this rate...

Oracles of the Spire: December 4th, 2007

I’ve had a dream in this setting before. Imagine an ancient land. It is overgrown with green jungle foliage. There’s a red rock canyon running through an area…its old, and now nothing flows in it, even in the rainy season, though there are a few springs along it forming small lakes and ponds on the canyon’s bottom. There’s a great rock spire, very very wide, rising out of this wide space in the canyon where the water that carved it so long ago was diverted into two streams around some harder bedrock. Like an island in a river of air, it stands. There’s a spring behind it forming a sort of swampy pond many miles long that ends just at the spire. Just after the spire in the old river’s flowing route there’s a few sharp turns and some sharp downward dips in the canyon bottom, making it difficult to find and reach.

There are two peoples here. There is a very animal like race of people called simply the ape-men by outsiders. They are proportioned the same as normal people, except they tend to be a bit muscular and have very thick necks and wide lips. They are covered in blackish-grey fur, and wear few articles of clothing. It’s often hard to tell the difference between males and females. There is also a race of people that are nearly perfect modern humans. The humans have a very sophisticated culture and inhabit caves in the spire. The ape-men live in the surrounding area and resent the human’s presence.

The last dream I had here was an adventurous one in which the two people fought. The ape-men are sentient, but no one knows there motivations. They want to kill the humans in the spire, but they certainly wouldn’t settle there. As far as anyone can tell there is just a hatred for humans in general among them. They are violent, possibly cannibalistic, if you consider humans and them to be a close enough species that eating them counts as cannibalism. They have a complex nomadic culture of their own, and a detailed language, though it is mostly made up of grunts, whistles, and guttural vowels. In the last dream a serious invasion was mounted by the ape-men against the humans in the spire. The humans dropped a giant tree trunk down into the canyon, shaved off its limbs, and rolled it at the ape-men as they approached the spire. The attackers charged the tree instead of running and were crushed under the blow of the tree. The exact details of everything in that old dream I don’t remember. All I can recall is some humans pushing the tree down the incline, and the ape-men leader raising his spear and shouting in battle defiance as the massive trunk bore down on his tribe.

This second dream last night, the second time I’ve visited the spire, began with the woman from the dream I had had just before that, the administrator of the big city aquarium. She appeared midway up the incline, where the tree trunk had been rolled down, and was looking down the slope. Again, I wasn’t in this one, but as I watched I began to recall many old scenes from the first dream concerning the spire and the battle. I wondered how I could have ever forgotten it!

Apparently, the woman had time traveled to the past without intending to. She was staring there, wondering how a giant tree had ended up smashed against a wall of the canton down there and wondering where she was. It looked like it had been some time since my last visit, as the tree had some plants on it and looked settled in the ground a little where it lay.

As the woman was looking around, she saw that people were walking up and down the slope, doing various tasks. I couldn’t be sure if there was no longer a threat from the ape-men or not, but the people exuded a feeling of peace and security, so at least this path close to the spire was held by the humans pretty strongly. Some of the people, though, were disfigured, with birth defects. The woman watched as two girls walked by with long long legs and extra big feet. She realized that these must be early humans, and guessed that the gene pool might not have solidified yet. It was then she realized she had time traveled.

Accepting this with the strange calm DCs tend to have, the woman walked up towards the Spire. There she met many of the humans and started living with them. Everyone in the Spire dressed in animal skins or primitive plant products. There was the leader of the tribe, and often next to him was a blond haired, blue eyed woman who was known as the oracle. She was perhaps 20 or so. The woman was amazed by what these primitive humans were doing, though. The had running water, and heated rock stoves with constant fires, and had many technological advancements like good rope and some pulleys that even made an elevator in a shaft in the spire to go up and down some levels. The spire was like a piece of cheese and was riddled with holes, so sunlight and air came in through natural holes in the cave walls and ceilings. There weren’t very many refined metals or anything (their running water somehow used natural pressure and small water funnels in the rock). Everything they had they attributed to the oracle.

There were three visitors coming to the spire soon, and now my dream switched over from the woman to them, making there way down a thin snaky path in the canyon wall towards the old riverbed and the spire. One was a human guy, with black hair and dark eyes, who was in his late teens. One was definitely not human, but he was some sort of furry, sentient man-beast. He was brown all over and he walked on his hind legs, though in battle (later on) he would start snarling and running around like a monkey on all fours. The third member I’m not sure about, his features I never saw clearly, but he was unimportant anyways. There was many a comedic discussion moving down the canyon from the boy and the half-beast. At last they reached the bottom, the woman met them as she was on her way to do something else and walked with them. They introduced themselves (though I didn’t catch their names) and walked around to the back entrance to the Spire.

There were only two entrances, you see, an entrance in the front (on the downstream side) and an entrance in the back (on the upstream side). The entrances were caverns that were perhaps as tall and a human and twice as wide as they were tall. The one in the back actually had water from the spring running into it, and the humans had built a wooden bridge to cross the swampy water and reach the back side.

As the woman and the boy and the half-beast and their companion were crossing the bridge, alligators from the spring’s swamps attacked them! I don’t remember much of the battle, only that there were alligators climbing up on the bridge. None were very big (the smallest was maybe 3 feet, the largest maybe 6) but they were all swarming and snapping and trying to eat any of the many people on the bridge. Everyone fought back, and eventually the swarm of alligators was driven off, but not until the oracle came. I’m not sure what the oracle did – as I said, I’m a little fuzzy on the battle’s details – but the alligators were beaten back and the bridge was free.

The oracle approached the woman. The woman from the last dream ‘proved herself’ to the tribe during that battle. Oh I wish I could remember more about it, but this part faded upon waking. However, at the end the blond woman said something about her having ‘the power of an Oracle.’ The chief of the tribe had run out with the oracle to help in the battle against the alligators, and now he led the woman inside. The boy and half-beast’s companion followed, along with many others who had been on the bridge at the time. Apparently the wild alligators would attack things on the shore in droves. They usually didn’t attack the bridge, though, another fact mysteriously attributed to the Oracle.

Warriors came out of the spire to help make sure it was all safe, and the boy and the half-beast stood at the corve of the bridge as it bent in towards the back entrance. The warriors looked at each other but said that everything was going to be okay because the oracle was out there handling it. The boy noticed the oracle was still near, just inside the cave entrance. She had sat down on a raised rock near the entrance, facing away from the boy. She had pulled her hair over one shoulder and was sitting cross-legged, facing inside. Like some eastern person meditating, she lifted her arms in front of her face, and as she lowered them some wooden gates lowered as well from the rock ceiling above her. They were more like bamboo bars that ran parallel to the ground than gates, really, and as they lowered down the boy instinctively realized that this was supposed to keep alligators out of the inside of the spire if they should charge the bridge again.

That’s, sad to say, when the dream ended. I wish there was more, but we did finally get to see that the oracle could control things about the spire without even touching them, as if she had some magical powers. o_O I dunno why the woman from before was in this one, though, and time traveling to boot. Oh well.

And now, of to dream again!!

Slept poorly, only one crazy dream last night. I did remember a dream I had earlier this summer, though tonights dream had nothing to do with it, i just recalled it while I was trying to get back to sleep. I wrote down the details but I'm not going to recall it this evening. I need a nap before a big review class tonight.:dreaming:

The Temple : December 5th, 2007

The first part of this dream began with me, standing in a cold-looking set as small white flakes filtered down around me. It looks like I’m standing on a street with a street lamp next to me, the old-timey black English type. I am my female persona but I had short blond hair, much like the blond woman in the ads for the movie “the Golden Compass”. I’m perhaps 20. The view is looking at me from the side as I’m facing left. Then I turn and look over my shoulder, slightly surprised. Someone yells “cut!” and the flakes stop and I walk off the set. I’m apparently in a movie and this was the last scene we were filming, and the dream started just at the end of it, just after someone had left.

I step away and walk out off the set, stepping down onto a concrete floor where the street can now be seen for the movie set it is. As I’m leaving, this old man and young boy approach me. I seem to know them, because I greet them warmly. The old fellow has shoulder length grey hair and a receding hairline, and the young boy had short, shaggy black hair. They speak to me for a moment, something about a previous engagement, and I realize that these are some of the clergy members who are here to lead me, as I have a sort of coming of age test coming up. I follow them, shedding the coat I was wearing for the set, and we step out into some warm, humid air.

I drive with them, and I can’t help but admire these two. There is a reverence, a calm honor of which this pair is possessed. In the dream they are something like the Jewish Levites, a lineage of priests and clergy for whatever beliefs the culture in this dream held, and they actually behave like holy men should, the teenage boy with respect to his older mentor, both with a calm glow about them that denotes their station but a kind respect for others that reveals a tender, caring heart. We talk for a bit and I watch the scenery pass by outside of the window. We’re in a low area, so there are few hills and a lot of plant life. It kinda looks like Florida, except there’s some solid bedrock rising from the sand every now and then. We head out and stop at this bridge, a very modern-looking cement contraption, and I can see it going out to this small round island on which sits a massive tower.

The tower, whose details are indistinct, is apparently a temple. For my ceremony I’m supposed to cross the bridge alone and find my way to the temple. There are three guardian monster species of this area, and they will help guide me. We are standing on the cement and asphalt bridge and the wind is blowing in our hair as we study the island. They are going to wait for me here if I should come back instead. I close the car door, thank them, and move on.

I cross the bridge without turning back and enter the jungle on the other side. Even though I’m supposed to meet some monsters here, I’m not afraid; these are supposedly holy creatures, part of our belief system. I go for some time, heading in the direction of the tower, but I find nothing. There’s a lot of animal activity in the jungle, but the only animals I see don’t seem to care about me at all, they are all rushing someplace else, scattering in all sorts of directions. I feel a twinge of worry, but press onwards. The ceremony is supposed to happen at the Temple, so to the temple I go, guardian guide or not.

Finally I reach the temple and there is this great noise. I step out into the clearing around the tower and look up, shocked. All the guardian monsters are here! And there are many other monsters as well, attacking the temple, and the guardians are all fighting them off, and that’s why none were here. The guardians from this temple are all mammals or reptiles of some sort, and I can’t even see what the temple looks like because so many flying beasts are in the air around it. I dare not make a sound, so I turn tail and run back through the forest and across the bridge.

I explain everything that’s happening to the old man and the boy. Shocked expressions fall on their faces, but the tower can now clearly be seen surrounded by a cloud of flying things, and now many are even flying over the bridge, as if intent on some other purpose. Many spot us and fly down to attack. The clergymen try to get us back in the car, but suddenly many tan clothed clergymen. Appear and help fight off the beasts. Some have guns and some use martial arts and some magic, and there are all these cars around us. The old man and the young boy are separated from me, and the new tan-clothed men tell me I need to get into a car so they can take me to safety. I obey, and we drive off.

Apparently the attack was centered around me, and it was raised by another temple. They used their guardian beasts to attack this one so I wouldn’t be able to do the ceremony. This ceremony is where a person’s power becomes unlocked, you see. I don’t get the feeling that I’m too important, just that I was one of a few to be predicted to be powerful and the other temple is making a political move today in an effort to keep the other temple from unlocking any more powerful people.

The drive me to their temple, who are allies of the one that I was supposed to do my initiation ceremony. They all dress in tan, oriental style outfits. I finally get a good look at a temple, and it is amazing. I am aware that all the temples are supposed to look the same, so this is what I should have seen on my island temple. It looks like a cross between modern and Egyptian architecture. Its made of naturally tan and white blocks and rises from the forest like a skyscraper, interspersed here and there with steel and glass pieces. Its like religion and business in one, which makes me feel awed and a little uncomfortable at the same time.

They lead me upstairs to a room with many chairs and a couch. I ride an elevator to get there, and the elevator opens up on this room so I get the idea that there’s more to this floor than just the room. There’s a door on the other side, so my guess tells me there is more to be accessed. The entire wall to one side of the room is floor to ceiling of highly tinted glass, and I can see the forest and island spread out before me, so I know we are many floors up.

The door opens and a young, skinny, effeminate male step out. He greets me warmly in this high pitched voice, and talks like a valley girl, so my mind immediately thinks ‘Gay!’ I have some gay friends, but this fellow was just so…stereotypical of the Hollywood portrayal of a gay man that it makes me slightly uncomfortable. Plus, I’ve been rather quiet and introspective this whole trip, and his bubbly exterior undoubtedly has more to do with that than anything, and as I don’t broach the subject I am never certain of his preference. He introduces himself and explains that he’s here to protect me in case anything happens. I think…”right.” But as I’m relatively certain of my own strength I don’t worry. He sits on the couch and I sit on the other end and he tells me of his ceremony, and how the guardian species of his temple are all bug monsters. One of the species is even a fly the size of a compact car, with twenty eyes! I seem to recall seeing some oversized bugs on the way so this makes sense to me.

Suddenly the power goes out. “oooh!” The fellow says. “I certainly hope this comes on soon. Terrible inconvenience to sit mostly in the dark like this.” But I feel uncomfortable about something. The elevator opens and someone dressed in black comes in. Its hard to tell colors in the dark light coming in through the windows, but it definitely looks black. The man I’m with looks over at the man who just got off of the elevator and says “oooh! Are you here to fix the lighting already? That was fa-“

As he is about to finish stating ‘fast’ the black-clothed man’s eyes lock onto mine. I open my mouth to form a warning that this isn’t some repair guy, but all that comes out is the sounds of the first syllable before the guy leaps over and jumps on me.

It takes just a moment before my guardian guy has knocked the intruder out. He’s apparently a good martial artist, but the man had somehow stuck a nose ring on me (a nose ring? What’s up with that?)! It doesn’t hurt, but I’m afraid to pull it out because even if I didn’t feel anything he somehow got it to pierce my skin, and I have a feeling it would hurt to remove. The martial artist says it must be a tracking device (in a nose ring? What’s up with that?) and we need to leave. We go into the elevator and press 3. Apparently the elevators connect all the temples, and this is temple 3. You get in, press the number of your temple, and think about where you want to go in the building. I’m thinking the front lobby, but I let him concentrate on our destination, as he’s proven himself quite capable in incapacitating a man in under a second, despite his consistently happy appearance.

The door opens and all hell seems to have broken loose over the front lobby. There are black clothed priests everywhere in battle with the tan clothed priests, and some priests charge in to the elevator and attack us. The guy starts protecting me, and he tells me to push the buttons on the elevator. I don’t know what to push, I’m pushing all sorts of buttons. I seem to recognize one as the number for my temple, so I press that one, and then all kinds of others…3 again, 25, 100, but there are too many people charging the elevator, keeping the door open so we can’t leave. He knocks a bunch out of the way and we charge out into the outside instead and leave.

A lot more happened in the dream, which I can’t recall. I remember dreaming it, but I can’t remember what happened. The next thing I can remember I’m outside Temple 3 again, only now its held by the attacking temples. I’m alone, and I’m missing that nose ring (nose ring? What was up with that thing?!) and I have to get in and use their elevator. I run in, startling some female acolytes, and get in the elevator, closing the door behind me. I press 100, and the elevator starts rising. I get all disoriented, and I start imagining that scene I was acting in earlier.

Next thing I know, I’m standing there and all these white flakes are falling around me. I look around in surprise, much like I did in the movie, only this time I step away, and there’s this after image of me left behind who follows out the actions I had acted out in other scenes. I realize I’m watching a replay of the entire movie, all edited and cut and playing on some sort of holographic projector in the lobby of this stone building with 100 written on the walls. The movie was just finished when the dream started, and we didn’t have holographic projectors, so I realize the elevator must have listened to me and taken me forward in time to a point where something at temple 100 matched the scene I had imagined in my head when I was disoriented.

A nice family meets me and asks me over to dinner, seeing as I’m a stranger in their temple. We go up some stairs (thank god) to their apartments in the temple and I learn through discreet questioning that the temple war lasted quite a while, and it was hard on everyone, though it ended recently with the good guys (the ones I was with, obviously) as the winners. We were 100 years in the future! When I realized this, I woke up.

Very strange dream. I was a time traveling holy businesswoman actress who started a 100 year crusade. o_O

The scope of your dreams, the amount of detail that you remember, absolutely stuns me. Is this a recent development, something you've had to work hard at, or do you naturally recall these epic adventures? In other words . . . what is your secret?

I've always remembered my detailed dreams, only I've only ever had 1 a night at most, and I would remember only 1 every few days usually. This many regular dreams astounds me. Until I found this site I had no idea I dreamed more than once, and every night. So you've got me there...I'm kinda riding the gravy train here, hoping it doesn't stop.

As for how I put so much details in...I remember dreams as a bunch of fuzzy actions and a few clear snapshots every so often. So when I wake up I have a general plot and then its like my brain took some polaroids every few dream minutes, usually in big emotional scenes. I just take the time to look over all the polaroids when I sit down and describe and fit the world together like a jigsaw puzzle as best I can, and then run the plot hrough it. When I jot down notes at night, I try to write what the polaroids are in the order they appeared in the plot. For instance, the notes from my last dream "The Temple Elevator" went somehing like this:

"5:46 - movie filmed. initiation ceremony guide by monsters. bad things, runs, is chased by bad temples. elevator, floor 100, doesn't work. rescued, captured. floor 100. works. temple in future."

Complete with lack of any caps whatsoever. If I try to describe those details as best I can, I usually tend to remember more, though not always. The "rescued, captured" part was completely forgotten by morning.

^^; I'm a roleplayer at heart, I suppose. I'm used to dealing with descriptions like that on a daily basis in my forum RPs for the last 7 years, and a read more than I wach TV, to boot. So when I write it its like it pulls all the pieces still left in my brain, cause I'm so used to allocating information that way. I dunno. If I get the system pinned down, you'll all be the first to know. Still riding that gravy train...

That was one intense fight with the gator in the gator case. And your temple initiation dream was just nuts! I agree, the nose ring was odd. I tried looking up the symbolism of nose rings, but didn't find anything relevant in that context. Was it through the middle of your nose, or through one side of your nostrils?

Through the middle. Blue and gold. o_O I was glad when the thing was finally off.

Whelp, I don't remember dreaming during my 30 minute nap. Oh well.

Yeah, if I was the gator, I'd be running too. Wish it had ended up that way in the dream. Leo looks like he's about to collapse, poor guy. He was actually bravely fighting an invisible wall at the moment, but we all make sacrifices for the greater comedic good. Today's sacrifice: Leo's pride.

EDIT: Not much to say, couldn't even remember fragments from last night's half-sleep. Didn't sleep very well or long, stupid late night and early morning sudy sessions brought on my finals. -_-

Essence of the Seasons : Mid-summer 2007

This dream happened a few months ago. I had forgotten it, and remembered it a few nights ago while half-asleep after waking from another dream. I actually had had the dream twice, with slight differences the second time, and bothe dreams were only a few nights apart.

The setting begins in a warm sort of street vender’s hut. The ceiling is low and the walls are made of wooden slats. Its lit by a small fireplace and some lamps about the room. It doesn’t look very well built and that’s probably because it isn’t; it more resembles some of the semi-permanent buildings that regular vendors make at outdoor flea markets. It seems like that’s where it should be, too, as its wares are wide and varied. Its very warm, but I am wearing a long black wool coat as my girl persona at about 16.

I am thinking about buying some woodwind instruments hanging from one of the support poles. There is a snake charmer and other relatively simple wooden flute-variants. I have an obsession with well made wooden musical instruments and so here I am simply standing in this vendor stall looking for some time up at the instruments and admiring them, wondering if I should buy them. The shopkeeper looks over at me every now and then, a muscled and pot bellied fellow with a stained grey shirt, stained white apron, grizzled features and short white hair. He lets me stand about, though, as he can see I’m pretty much sold on the instruments I’m just trying to decide if I have the funds to acquire them.

In the first dream not much happened here. In the second dream many teenagers were coming in and out of this spot well coated in warm clothes. I had the understanding that we were walking to some sort of school dance, and I had stopped here to check the shop out as I often did. Some of my DC friends would stop and make sure I was paying attention, as I was kinda spacing out in the crowd, looking at the instruments.

In the first dream I decide not to buy them and simply leave after some time studying them and wishing. In the second dream I startle myself to alertness after daydreaming and discover I must have been here for the length of the party. I’m slightly disappointed but not really…I count it well worth it, even though I eventually realized I couldn’t afford them. I’m still in the store when another teenager stops me, a boy who’s a friend of mine. In the first dream he’s outside, but both times he decides to walk with me across the street, to where our boarding school is. We step out into cold weather, where a recent snowfall has left brown slush interspersed with white spots of undisturbed snow, and make our way across the street. There’s a little snow falling, so I look up at the school and the sky.

Our school was made of two 5 story cubes connected by an all glass 3 story entrance hall. The roofs of both cubes are used for functional purposes and bordered by 3 story tall chain link fencing. On the top of one of the cubes is an old shed and on the other are some basketball and tennis courts for the students. I notice that on the one with the shed the storm seems to center around it. I think that’s weird.

In the first dream, I just get this inflowing of knowledge as I step out of the dream for a little and the view flies about the school, that this is a magical item that keeps the city covered in winter all the time and its guarded by the school. Then the first dream cut off to a later scene.

In the second dream, however, I stayed in my persona. I mentioned the odd scene to my friend, and we decide to investigate, but an ornery grizzled old janitor stops us from reaching the tool shed. So we get some friends together and do research in the library. Its there we learn about two magical items guarded by the school when it was first built, concentrated essence of winter and summer. One is held on either tower. Working together, we reach the tool shed, and I sneak inside. I’m poking around and the place reminds me of nothing so much as the tool shed in Tornado when they run in there and the place is full of nothing but farming blades hanging on the walls. All sorts of crude implements hand or are packing into the close confines of the numerous waist-high shelves and tables of the room. I’m looking through, and see this soft blue glow coming from a box. I dig through some grimy metal objects, carefully trying not to be cut by rusty blades or something, and pull out a small bottle.

I know instantly it is the concentrated essence of winter. It is cold to the touch, a crystal clear small bottle with a white cork stopper, full of glowing, ice-blue liquid. I stand there, staring at it, entranced, and snow starts falling in the shed. The flimsy walls of the shed and roof break apart, dividing into single planks and blowing off the school.

My friend is standing there looking at me, surprised and awed by the power of the Essence. On the opposite cube there’s a bright orange light, and a floating, glowing objects suddenly appearing. Awakening the Winter Essence seems to have unlocked the Summer Essence.

At this point, the polarity of the magics seems to affect us, because we both seem to become enemies. He makes a dash across the slippery glass roof of the atrium and climbs the stairs to get the Summer Essence. Snow can’t seem to fall in the areas touched by the light of the Summer Essence, though the Winter Essence still seems to rage. There’s this big warm wind that blows up, whipping the falling snow into the sleet.

Some of our friends side with my guy friend, also affected by the magic, and some side with me. The two groups are trying to get the Essence from the other and get it to their leader, either me or him. The Essences change hands a couple times, and the interesting thing is that when the guy or me are holding one of them we can do all these awesome acrobatic things, though no one else seems to be affected that way. The details of the battle are fuzzy, but I remember that one time I was standing on the ground and the Winter Essence got smacked out of my hand and flew up to the fencing around the courts. It lodged in one of the links, and all this ice spread our from it and covered the links. I knew I would never be able to reach it before he did, because he could jump up there with the Essence of Summer and I had to climb. But a friend of mine was up there and knocked it out, so the guy (who was already jumping up to get there) couldn’t make it back down by the time I reached it on the ground. All in all, I ended with the Winter Essence and he with the Summer. We decided to settle this with a group competition, winner takes all. And that’s when the dream switched.

We moved up to a mountain above the city. I was covered in snow. This is where dream 1 jumped to back so long ago. In dream 1 I had just ignored the magical items. I was up here with my family when they had come to visit and there was another family, whom I shall call the Rosses, who were competing with us in a toboggan race down the hill. There was some old bitterness between us and the Rosses due to an old event, though nowadays we’re on speaking terms. In this dream we took the race down the hill.

In dream 2 it was also a toboggan race, however it was my team against the guy’s team. Winner received the Essences. There was a long race, and in dream one I lost and felt very sour because I had lost to the Rosses. In dream 2, however, I won. We were racing down this mountain to its base, and partway down the snow disappeared to warm fallish fields. I understood that this was because the Winter Essence had been removed from the school and carried up the mountain. The guy, with the summer essence, was doing just fine in his toboggan, but mine was swiftly slowing down. However I knew of a trail that was made of soft brown sandy dirt, and made it there at the crest of this big hill, so my sled flew down it.

In dream 1, I lost because I didn’t want to go down the hill in the snow. I’m afraid of heights, you see, and it was a steep hill. I tried to stop us and so we went down the hill funny and lost to the Rosses. In dream two I felt the same fear, however I knew I couldn’t let him win and the speed we would get from the drop would be the only thing that would let us win. So I gritted my teeth and threw us down it with all the speed I could muster, and we won. I received both the Essences, and woke up.

The first was just sort of a soft mishmash dream, but the second was pretty epic, all in all.

Poor sleep last night. To be expected after two other nights of bad sleep in succession. Got all my hours in, though, so that should help tommorrow night's sleep pattern.

Grandfather’s death - Earrings : December 7th, 2007

This dream was set in a small pizza place. It looked like it was downtown, but I’m not sure. It resembles all those great classic Italian restaurants you visit as a child; not the ones that go all out to decorate and paint Italian images on the walls, but the small, out of the way ones with really good food and simple decoration. It was filled with dark wooden tables. The bottom half of the wall was also wood, as was all the trim, and the top half was sponge painted with a deep, dark red and very lightly with some black. The lamps in the place hung over each table and were covered in deep, blood red glass, so you could see those at the table around you but it was quite easy to get the sensation that the rest of the restaurant was dark and empty. There was a long rectangular table near the entrance, and all around the restaurant many other round tables sat.

My dad was the chef in this pizza place, and was off in the kitchen. DC family members sat around the table, but my dad was the only RL family member to make an appearance. Everyone else who was there was some sort of imagined uncle or aunt or cousin or distant relative. An ‘uncle’ sat at the head of the table, and I as my female persona at 20 took an empty seat to his left and tried to get in on the conversation. I realized we were talking about my Grandfather on my father’s side’s death. Papa-Bob had passed away in RL last week, after battling lung cancer for a year. In the dream, my dad kept making us all pizzas and we were eating and having a good time telling stories about grandpa.

I got the understanding that today all of Grandpa’s little trinkets were going to be handed out to everyone at the table and given to who my grandma, Mama-Toni, wanted them to go to. But no one really mentioned it…it was like a close family memorial service for Papa-Bob at my dad’s dream pizzeria, and the handing out of grandpa’s things was just a side note, a thing that was convenient to do there at the time since everyone was gathered.

Throughout the night we talked and ate delicious dad-made pizzas. My ‘Uncle’ made a bunch of bad jokes, and I could see he was struggling with Papa-Bob’s death and trying to help lighten it, though he wasn’t doing a very good job. Everyone else seemed to recognize his reasons for his poor humor and so would let some of his odd remarks slide by as best they could and continue the conversation.

Finally all the trinkets were handed out, and I received a maroon velvet box, 2 inches thick and about 4 inches square. I opened it up and on a white silk pillow inside lay two earrings. They resembled a combination of the two images I put above, with the wire pattern from the first image replacing the butterflies on the second image. They didn’t match, but I could tell they were meant to be worn together. The first had green beads hanging from it. The second was thinner, and had smaller amethyst beads hanging from it. I knew they were things of power. In the dream I didn’t wonder why my grandfather was giving me earrings…He was always sort of an Indiana Jones character in my mind, and the earrings would clearly give the wearer some special powers or abilities. I was very happy and touched, and I got the feeling like these had been a gift from my grandfather to me or something. I woke up feeling that same bittersweet happiness.

Comic Fragment : December 7th, 2007

In my dream, my father and I were passing out comic books in a semi-snowed city event. They were Christian comic books, one like the kind we’ve been wanting to do for a while, that tells a story with a similar analogy of Christian life that Pilgrim’s Progress does (only ours would be an actiony manga story). We always wanted each comic to tell the simple message of salvation in it, so I guess we had done the comics and were now handing them out to people like tracts. They seemed to be getting well received…

We went into this big white tent where we could hear somebody preaching and listened to this guy preach inside. Afterwards he came up to us and wanted to know what we were passing out. We showed him, and he commended us, but he gave us that look, like we were slightly off the path weirdos. He acted like the kind of religious guy I dislike…like he’s better than everyone, and while we might be Christians and doing something, his work is infinitely superior and more worthwhile. I’m sure we all know the type…the high and mighty fellows, who act as if they have some deep connection with god that no one else can get. He frustrated me, and I remember pulling back the comic I had been handing him and putting it back in the pile in my arms angrily before waking up. I was frustrated, but the good feeling from my last dream still pervaded my thoughts, so it didn’t ruin my night.

I quite enjoyed reading the pizzeria dream. Very nice and sentimental, and I know exactly the sort of Italian restaurant you're talking about. It was easy to picture the scene you described, and those earrings sound/look pretty cool (I'm a big earrings fan). Keep all of that detail coming.

Thanks. I want to look for two sets of earrings like those now and take one from each pair...:P just to have something to remember the nice feeling of the dream by. I think it was was of those emotional dream purges, really helped my feelings about Papa-Bob's death come into focus. I probably won't be able to go to the actual memorial in January, so it was kinda cool to dream about it here, ya know?

You seem to dream of these restaraunts very often..Your graphic description of couse helped to bring up the image of one of those pizza places in my head..I'm pretty sure I'm visualizing the same type of place you were talking about.

In a way it's kind of sweet about your grandfathers trinklets...almost like spreading his essence. Eh, just my opinion. I've had lots of...passed grandfather dreams so I may understand the feel of this one you had.

Interesting fragment. And if that's a goal you had..incorporating religeous messages into comics? that could actually be an interesting and disturbingly effective idea. And yes, many a time I've encountered those "high and mighty" types who think they have a special connection with god. They seem to be magnetized to come knocking on my door, perfusely :p.

Those types are the kind that give the rest of us decent believers (of any religion) bad names. You start thinking you're special becuase of what you believe, or that you get something noone else can, and you become an ass. -_- Gah, but I could probably rant about those for hours.

Yet gain, I dreamed TWO dreams last night set in the same setting of another, older dream I had forgotten. How cool is that? I've only written up one, because the second is rather involved and I have some studying to do first. Plus, this one's kind of funny.

Is that a…baboon? : December 8th, 2007

This dream was very strange. I revisited an old dream site that I am aware is my grandma and grandpa’s house. It doesn’t look anything like Dell and Lene’s real house, but this is the house I give them in my dreams. The place is surrounded by low oak trees and covered in brown, dead leaves. When you enter the house you have a long living room that extends along the front of the house. At either end of the house is an open archway leading to elsewhere in the house…the archway to the left takes you into the kitchen. The archway to the right has a hallway that leads to some bedrooms.

There’s a door to the outside on the left wall of the living room, and one on the back wall of the kitchen. The living room has brown carpet and white walls and ugly furniture and a big TV on the wall opposite the entrance. The kitchen has poor linoleum tiles and an ugly bright yellow scheme. It is nothing like my real grandparent’s house. I’ve never visited any of the bedrooms, though I think there are three.

The first time I dreamed I was here there was some sort of car race as I tried to drive a bunch of illegal racers off of the property. This time, however, my mom and I were coming for a visit. My grandparents weren’t home, but there were a bunch of baboons running all over the property. They’re grey and about knee high with thick head hair and sharp fangs. I’m scared as I know baboons are violent and territorial and won’t hesitate to take a bite out of you…these ones certainly seem to fit the bill. We make it inside just as they notice us, but secure in the house my mom and I relax and we continue on doing what we came here to do; clean and live out a few weeks here, I guess while my grandparents are off somewhere.

The doorbell rings and I answer it. A petite, mature baboon pushes its was inside and starts crawling all over me. I freak out, but it crawls up, wraps its arms around my neck to hold on and starts directing me to do stuff for it, like make it vegetables or something. It can’t speak, but it gets the point across. When I don’t do what it wants or don’t do it fast enough, it snaps its sharp-teethed jaws at me. Every now and then it will hop down and let in some more baboons from outside and then return to me. I try to get them out but my baboon snaps at me, so they get to party and mess up the house and my baboon is making me serve them sliced vegetables and stuff. I am eventually forced to make a white cloth sling as my new slave master baboon lounges happily during his party.

My mom is angry and tells me I better get these baboons out of the house right now. I tell her I can’t, this one will hurt me, so she storms off angrily to one of the bedrooms.

After a while my baboon is all tired out and doesn’t seem to care what I do with myself, as long as I don’t interfere with his partying friends. Mom decides its time for her to take a break from cleaning the bedrooms and she drives us to the park. She acts like there’s not a baboon in a sling on my shoulder in the car, which lounges as if in a drunken stupor as we drive. We leave the property and go into the city and visit our favorite park.

We’re standing on this hill, and below us is a giant boulder. As we’re sanding, something catches my baboon’s interest, and he climbs down and leaves. I’m relieved, and consider making a break for it. As I’m thinking about this, two men approach me.

They’re government agents, in the typical black suits and black sunglasses, and they look almost exactly the same with combed back brown hair. My mom is off looking at some trees, so no one is near.

“Miss.” They say sternly, “Was that a…baboon we saw on your shoulder?”

“Yes.” I reply.

“Miss, are you aware that it is illegal to carry a baboon?” One asks.

“Ummm…no. No I didn’t.”

They look at each other like…’Yeah right.’ Then they say: “Have you taken the test?”

“What test?” I ask.

“The new standardized test. It tells us whether you have the basic knowledge needed to be a citizen or not.”

“No. I haven’t taken it.” I say, uncertain of what they’re talking about. They direct me to the boulder, and behind it there’s a computer kiosk. They say I have to take the test or I will be in violation of such and such law and such and such law. They leave me to the kiosk and I take the test. Its really easy, with questions like “Which came first: Dinosaurs, Baboons, Chickens, or humans?” I think I get a really great score, but suddenly the results print out and I got a 5%! Suddenly the guys are there and they have me be either arm and are dragging me away. “You’re under arrest,” They said “For lacking basic intelligence and carrying a baboon in a public place.” I try to get my mom’s attention but she doesn’t hear, she’s looking at some plants or something. Then I wake up.

Wow, I agree the one who said that your recall is fantastic! I only read the very first one so far (the detective one) but sure i'll read the others!
I love Steam City. The way it is described it's just so an interesting place. I'll read more soon!

Thanks Philquiet! ^_^ When I make sure to write down my dreams and record them sometime during the next day or the day after I tend to remember all kinds of detail. After that they fade. I hope you get to read all of them and like them as much as Steam City Detective...

Steam City just feels like home every time I think about it, even when awake. Crime infested cesspool of humanity that it is, this tends to surprise me. But I just get this picture of my young dream self in his overcoat standing on a dark, steam-shrouded street and feel all cozy. o_O

Wow, I've been more busy on my break than during finals that I haven't recorded any dreams. Weird...I still have like, one or two to record, I think. I'll probably get to them later today if possible. Plus a boatload of fragments that I'm gonna try to snatch from my missing dreams from the past week or so.

Running (or what I can remember of it) : December 8th, 2007

Like “Is that a…baboon?,” “Running” was set in an old dream setting. For the most part, it followed the first dream’s plot at the beginning. I don’t remember when I first dreamed this, but it was pretty interesting.

The dream opens up in a car, I’m thinking it was a jeep (its been a few weeks) and we were in a northern forested area. I get an impression of what’s happened before…the first time I dreamed this, me and a few buds had commited some terrible crime and were on the run from the law. In the second dream, some buds of mine and I were set up by the real criminals. Either way, we were in our car/jeep and speeding south in the car through this thickly hilly and pine forested area, after just narrowly escaping a crazy car chase in the city that I can never remember (which leads me to believe that it never actually happened in-dream, it was just part of the dream setting).

Something happens in the first dream that makes us stop and take to mountain bikes. I don’t remember what it was in that one, but we abandon the jeep/car. In the second dream we came across an ambulance going through the mountains that has taken a bad turn and spilled over, killing most of the people but this one little girl. We have nowhere to put her in the jeep and we can’t leave her behind, so we find some bikes some biker had (so conveniently) abandoned on the side of the road and we’re gonna try to get her to safety and avoid the law in the forest at the same time.

We’re ascending this hill and the little girl’s bike chain breaks. We leave her there for a moment to see if we can find something to fix her bike with. We cross the hill and there’s a whole bunch of cops in this area. We’re hiding behind a small hill in the slope of the mountain, and some acquaintances of ours come over to the cops on mountain bikes. One of them, a blond guy, spots us, sneaks over, and asks us what we’re doing. We explain we need a replacement bike chain for a girl, and agrees and walks down, asking the cops who are looking for us a few feet away if he could have his belt. The cop agrees, gives him his belt, and the guy sneaks back to us. We use the belt to replace the chain and the guy follows us as we sneak away from the cops on our bikes.

In the first dream, the blond guy then turns us into the cops…-_- and we have to take shelter in this southern city house. In the second dream, though, he helps us out further and somehow we get to this southern city. Cops are everywhere so we sneak to this warehouse/house-house and try to get in. We do and the cops are trying to get in after us, so we rush to the back where the house-house becomes a big garage/warehouse, but we can’t get out. The first dream ended here, as we tried to get out again and couldn’t.

In the second dream, though, the garage door suddenly opens and all of our parents walk in. They have all this stolen merchandise from museums and stuff and they’re expert thieves and we’re just finding this out about them. They think we actually did the crime and are all proud of us and stuff. They hide their recent thefts and agree to make the cops go away.

So the cops go away and they show us around the house. I thought it had been weird, because the house was just a one room entryway, a long long stone hallway that leads from the entry to the garage. Now they show us all these secret rooms and passages on the walls of the hallway that lead to other rooms or other parts of the city and that only members of our family can open…or even see are there. So it turns out we have these he grounds available to us. Our parents say we should lay low until this whole thing blows over, and since that was our plan anyways we agree and take to exploring all the hidden gardens and rooms of the thief palace thing. And that’s the last I can remember of that…

Fragment - Murder : December 2007

There were these two murderers in my house trying to kill me and my family (I in my girl persona), and we had recently installed this elevator to the upper floors. It was an old cage one. Mom and Mey and Quin ran upstairs to try to get away while dad and I went down to kick butt. The elevator malfunctioned and we fell down and crashed at the bottom. The two murderers were beating on the outside of the elevator but they couldn’t get in, so they started climbing upstairs. Dad and I got out, and I guess we beat them up or something because they were gone.

There was also something about a giant snake in a pond near our house that was scary, and we had to kill it with a shovel.

Fragment – Furry Bunnies! : December 2007

There were these two furrys…people with animal characteristics. They were bunny furrs. I was a guy one, and I lived in this South American coastal tribal village with these tall black people. The water near their village was shark infested and very deep. The other furr, a girl bunny, came as some sort of reporter and tried to swim in it. I rescued her and we swam to the safety of this island, where she found a gem that matched the one on a necklace I wore. They were powerful magic gems, and I tried to steal hers. She left, angry at me.

Then I was apparently the girl bunny, several years later. I got this invitation to this rich american’s colonial mansion, but it turned out to be some sort of trap by a really bad guy (the SAME demon guy from “The horse-boy and the island”) in an effort to get the crystal from me. I found the bunny dude in this cell where I was and he was all beat up…apparently the demon-guy had hurt him in an effort to get information on where to find me and the second gem. But the guy hadn’t figured out how to remove the gems from us without destroying them (we both wore them around our necks on chains, and the gems had apparently selected us as their bearers or something) so he was going to keep us here until he did. I helped the guy bunny escape, but as we were running down the gravel driveway he collapsed and I couldn’t carry him, and the demon guy was walking up behind us all calmly with this smirk on his face, knowing I couldn’t get both of us away and I wouldn’t just leave the guy bunny behind. I could hear the crunch crunch as his feet stepped on the gravel just behind me, and then I woke up… O_O

Unremembered Notes : December 2007.

These are notes about two dreams I don’t seem to remember at all. But I woke up in the middle of the night and had written this down, so…they were obviously dreams that I had.
