Crazy to himself - Normal to everyone else
Hey-
First off, I wanted to explain the title. I always thought my dreams were the craziest until I read others. :p
I'm starting my dream journal 1 day after joining this site. I guess since I was focused on remembering my dreams I did alright remembering a decent portion of 3 dreams.
My dreams will be in brown.
Lucidity, when achieved, in blue.
Night of December 4th
Dream 1
I remember a tall house, maybe a tree house, with diving boards extended from it and pools below. There was lots of jumping off for fun and competition. I think this part arose from the game 'Assassin's Creed' in which the player can do a 'Leap of Faith' into a haystack. I was watching my roommate play a bunch these past few days.
Dream 2
This dream was kind of a weird - and at parts scary - road trip that included my family as well. For some reason I can't recall, business?, we were pointed down some dirt road. There were many obstacles. There was one place with a building/cabin where we ate and there was a bunch of game-like drama. (I guess I'm not remembering as clear as I had hoped :p) I do remember fighting off a Resident-evil like dog. And after I watched a very cinematic version of the dog attacking some-one else. My dad lost his 'business card.' Which wasn't a paper one that he got from someone else, (I remember explaining to my step mom in my dream) but a permanent card you could hand to other people. We had driven a car to the log cabin, but could only ski away from it. I went on ahead and had to do a bunch of climbing in a place where a car would have just glided through. (Imagine a ramp in which a car could drive up and sail over stuff) That's about all I remember of that one.
Dream 3
The motives in this dream seem to come from the previous dream. And, don't think I'm crazy :P the following violent dream is a mix of video games and a little frustration I was feeling during the day. I returned to a building in which a bunch of the people who had tried to kill me by sending me away on that quest were. It wasn't an abandoned building - it seemed like their workplace. The first man I came upon had a big head and I beat him with my fists on his head. Next, I walked over to a 'well' in which a bunch of hands reached out of. It was common knowledge that anyone thrown in would be pulled down (and thus dying). I picked up the guy I had just beaten and threw him in. I walked over to a lady whom I remembered had a really small gun in her purse. She was to the side, near a couch and table, and two other people were there but ignoring us. I grabbed the little golden revolver from her purse, saw that it had only 4 of 6 bullets. I put it to her head and played a little single-player Russian roulette with her. On the third trigger the bullet came out, but only barely. The next bullet also barely came out. In fact it went halfway into her head and then fell back out. She said 'don't you see why the bullets aren't coming out?' I noticed water dripping and realized it was a water gun. I tried a few more guns but they also did not work.
Back at the well three new people had been thrown in, including the only person who had been my friend in this place. I quickly gave up trying to pull him out. It was helpless, I think I apologized to him.
My 'family and friends' had arrived and it was time for us to get out of there / finish off a few more people. I grabbed the lady with the small guns and told her I was going to have some mercy since she told me about the water gun. My friends and I started running through a cafeteria. Eventually the I think I killed the lady for either trying something dumb or... there was a 'logical' reason, though.
Like Ikea, which I had discussed in class earlier today we had to walk through the whole lunch line in order to get to the tables. It started with elementary kid food and then just 'lunch' food. On the way I saw two people, enemies in my dream, and I somehow made two large spikes come down onto their head from the ceiling. This was repeated with two more people I saw. This was definitely from the game 'Mass Effect' in which some characters would be impaled (from below) from spikes.
Eventually we all settled down to eat. I saw steak fries, I remember :). I think I woke up soon after this.
As I get better at remembering dreams, I will get the order down much more correctly. Right now I tend to remember things that happened and try to 'logically' recreate the order. Also, I may try writing them immediately after having the dream instead of trying to recall all of them at once in the morning.
Don't get used to reading violent dreams :p. I really do think the dream helped me rid myself of a lot of frustration I had been dealing with yesterday. Right now, I feel fine :). I really believe, like I read, that dreams and REM sleep are mainly for ridding your mind of your negative subconscious.
I read that a person without (non-REM sleep) will be exhausted in the morning and in the long run while a person who does not dream will eventually go mad.
