Erin's Attempt at Remembering Her Dreams

Let me start off by saying that I don't expect people to read this journal and be completely in awe with my dreams. They really aren't anything special, at all. ;]

I started getting into lucid dreaming last year when my theatre teacher brought it up in class. He then had us write down all of our dreams in hopes we would make some amazing progress with dream recall. I kinda thought it was silly and I just wanted to experiment with LDs. Well, he kinda scared me out of it for a year and change... Until now ;]

I recently had spinal surgery (ouch!) and I've had a ton of time on my hands. So, with that extra time, why not surf the net! Stumbled upon a thread on livejournal explaining that someone knew how to control her dreams. I instantly remembered that I had wanted to try that. I asked her for some information and she directed me here! ;]

I spent hours on this website learning new techniques and reading other people's lucid dreams.
First night of sleep was fruitless. I think I had one dream (that I'll record in a bit)
But the second night... First LD ever! Freakin' fantastic, let me tell you! ;] I spent the whole day telling everyone I could about my dream and what I did in it and what not.
Unfortunately, I think I scared myself and that night I didn't even want to go to bed because I was frightened to LD! Hahahah! Oh, gosh. I didn't even have a dream that night, so I felt better!

Anyway, I'm going to start up this journal in hopes that I can remember my dreams more vividly and will help me out in the long run with LD.

      For future reference:
Regular text is for just dreams ;]
      Red for lucidity!

      Night of December 15, 2007:
Although I was so pumped about LDing, it didn't work out so well. I had a quick dream that I spoke to someone or I had received an e-mail from one of my top colleges, DeSales, informing me that I had to wait until the second week of January to receive a letter stating whether or not I was accepted or not. I remember feeling a sense of defeat because it was going to take such a long time! We'll see if I get my acceptance letter then! ;] ;]

      Night of December 16, 2007:
      First LUCID! Yee haw!
I'll write it all out again instead of hunting down my original post!
The dream began and I was in this old mansion on a huge property that had a church attached onto it. I was just wandering around trying to get a feel for the place. It had an creepy feel to it. I didn't really enjoy it.
I walk behind the old church and I see this young boy digging a huge hole into the ground as if he were trying to get into the basement of this church. I kept walking because it was strange that this child was digging this ditch near the church. I then heard the priest run outside and yell at the child. Yanked him inside the church and demanded that his guardian reprimand him for what he did. The priest then starts to break out into this song about how the property and the mansion are haunted and the ghosts come out all the time. It was this scary song. Next thing I know, all these people with black and white sheets start coming out of the woodwork singing and dancing. Not like a Broadway show-tune, but just some creepy thing.
It dawned on me that they were filming a movie and the ghosts were just actors and actresses! ...I didn't care, though! I was still frightened as hell by them and I started to dodge around the outside and the mansion hoping that they wouldn't see me!
Haha! As I'm running around, the last line of the song came up and everyone sang it. It was directed at me. "And she ruuuuuns up the staiiiiiiiirs!" So, I naturally ran for the stairs, but there were too many ghosts there, and I completely missed the stairs. But as I missed it, I just stopped dead in my tracks and I said out loud, "....Wait, I'm dreaming." All the ghosts stopped short, looked at me, and smiled. It was as if we were all friends. The next thing I said was, "How the heck am I going to wake up?!" But then I figured that it didn't even matter and I should just live it up while I could. I tried to think of some place that I could go to instead of this mansion. I thought of my school! School! School! Nothin'. I think maybe I was just really impatient or I didn't want to get knocked out of the dream. I turned around and I was in the mall all of a sudden! "Well, I guess this will have to do!" I decided that I wanted to jog around. One of the ghosts that was standing near me took off her sheet and started to jog with me, but she just kept staring at me and smiling. I wasn't creeped out or anything by that, though. As we were jogging, this random guy just walked out and gave me this evil kind of look. He started to walk in front of me and then I had decided that I was going to jog, but with every step I would bounce in the air. I was going super high. Once I got to a perfect angle, I SPAT right in his hair! Hahaha! I was like, "Shit. What about the consequences?! Oh, true. I'm dreaming. I AM DREAMING!" I then jogged off into a store and the ghost that was once there turned into my friend, Regina. Regina and I started bopping around the place and I told her that I was going to run as fast as I could. I started running, running, sprinting, sprinting! I could see a glass wall ahead of me and it was like an office because there was a guy on the phone in there and he was staring at me. I said, "I'm gonna go right through the glass!" Nope. Not even. Total face-plant up against the glass! No pain, though! I didn't even fall back! Regina just stood there and was laughing hysterically at me! Jerk. Got up and we started to jog around the store more and this guy in a white lab coat said, "And what would you like today?" I replied, "Give her a Macboooook!" With that, all these Macbooks appeared! Everywhere! On the shelves and on the displays! It was neat! Heaven<3 I continued my jog and then I turned back to realize that Regina wasn't there anymore. I called out to her, "Regina! Come here!" Out of no where, she came right back into focus as if she were running from behind the bend! We jogged along and I started singing, "I'm dreaaaaaming! I'm dreeeeeeeaming!" Then I woke up =[

Literally popped out of my bed and said, "What the fuck?!" It was neat, none the less!
Can't wait to tell my teacher today! Hahahah!

      Night of December 17, 2007:
Another quick dream that consisted of me going shopping for toys. I was standing there looking at all the selections with my cart and then this random woman just stole my cart and went to the front of the store! I followed her to the register and I started yelling that she took my shopping cart! I looked at her cart and it was filled with all of these food items... But I thought we were in Toys-R-Us?! She started retaliating and saying that I was being rude and what not. Whatever.

All I've had so far! I'll keep this up to date as much as possible! ;]

I'm not surprise you spend your lucid time jogging around after just having spinal surgery. Hope everything works out OK with that.

While you say the singing priest was creepy, I still find it amusing. Best of luck with your lucids. And remember, lucid dreaming is nothing to be afraid of, it's very liberating.

Hahahaha! You know, that makes complete sense! I haven't been able to run around in quite sometime due to the surgery. Herniated discs are no fun... especially when you're only 18! =[ Jeez!

The priest himself wasn't creepy, just the song that he was singing. It was just sketchy! Hahahah!

Thank you for the pick me up! I don't know why I was so nervous about it. I literally did not want to fall asleep because I didn't want to dream =[ I was so excited about it the whole entire day, too! Gosh.

I think I'm just nervous that I won't wake up... well, isn't that silly! ;]

Oh my lord..spinal surgery..I'm so very sorry. Well, LD'ing can certainly provide enjoyment for you.

Oh yay! I see we're from the same state!

Anyway, good intiative to begin a dream journal, it really will help you get familiar with your dreams and certainly with what they might contain. Getting you more Lucid dreams soon enough.

That dream sounded fantastic! I don't blame you for telling everyone...I usually do but get a rather mundane response. I see that the dream switched around so very much...the kid digging a hole, a scary song, the ghosts are really actors, and then the mall...that's really typical of dreams, you'll learn to control it soon enough...so that it's not switching on you all the time. Ah! and good move spitting in that evil man's hair, it did sound like you had a good line of fire into his hair from above Hehe, and the macbooks..I want a lucid dream like this!

I'm sure you'll be getting many more of these...there'll be on and off days but from the looks of it, you've got a lot of potential.

Hahahahah! Oh, gosh! Yes! I think that the LDs will help me out quite a bit! I'm feeling much better than last week, though! Herniated discs are no fun in my book =[ Oh, well. It gets a little better every day!

New Jersey! I'm from the central area. What about yourself?

I'm hoping that I'll get better at this. I think its just exciting to explore this whole new world that has been created in my head. I really don't want to do this every night, though. Just dabble a little here and there and I would be all set. I thought it was pretty neat how I just made macbooks appear and tell my friend to come to me, though! Great first start!

Thanks! I'll keep ya up to date with everything!

I'm hoping to LD tonight! Since, you know, it's only 2:07 in the morning and I'm about to pass out! ;] ;] ;]

I agree with you completely..it's a thrill to see what your mind can conjure up and from the looks of it, you've already seen the potential! I'm sure you'll be having more luck from here.

Hehe, tell me about it. I just took on something called a "Polyphasic" sleep schedule 3 days ago...much less sleep, not nocturnal, but naps in the day and a short night sleep...supposed to help with Dreaming.

But yeah! I'll be reading as best I can here..it's always nice to see someone get interested in all of this.

Absolutely! I'm about to update with my latest lucid dream and it was, uh, interesting ;] Two LDs in a week! Not bad at all. I think it's because I was up until late last night reading dream views.... and I was on painkillers ;x Really hope the medication doesn't effect my dreaming, because I will not take the medication JUST to have LDs! ....or will I! ;] ;] ;]

      Night of December 19, 2007:

Second lucid in a week! How wonderful!
Before I went to bed, I was kind of under the influence of some Percocet. Not for pleasure, but for pain, fyi! ;] And I was up until the ungodly hour of 2:30 AM reading DreamViews! Hahahah!

Fell right to sleep and I was hoping I would have some kind of LD, but no dice.

I woke up (or maybe I didn't ) and I said, "Oh, well. Wasn't in the cards tonight." and fell back to sleep. Woke up a few minutes later and I just decided to do a reality check. No real reason why I wanted to do it, just felt the need. Plugged up my nose, "I can still breathe! Wait, let me try this again." Success! I still was not convinced I was dreaming, so I raised my hands up in the air to get a better look at them. Blurry. I was missing a finger or two, but blurry as anything. "I'M DREAMING! YIPPEE!" I shouted!

I was in my bathrobe all of a sudden and was night outside. My door opened and my cat just strolled into the room. I wanted to test out how much I could do, so I asked the cat to do some stupid stuff.
"Oliver, can you please get me a zucchini?" With that, he walked outside of my room and then I saw a half peeled zucchini roll down the hallway. Ollie pushed it into my room with his nose and sat there waiting for his next command.
"Ollie, please cut up the zucchini." The cat then whipped out a KNIFE and starts cutting the vegetable! Who thinks of this?! Oh, right. Me.
I then decided that I need a companion here to talk to instead of the cat... although I should have made HIM talk! That would have been fun!

"Ollie, can you go outside into the hallway and turn yourself into the teenage boy you once were?" Well, apparently my cat was a Mexican teenager. This kid walked in and he had the darker tinted skin and a little mustache fuzz. Then of Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite. Kinda like that.
"Uh, hi. Can you get rid of your mustache fuzz?" It went away. "Sorry, still not attractive in my book" He kinda gave me a dirty look and walked out of the room.
I asked for another attractive boy to walk in. I don't remember much about this guy. I guess I didn't find him good looking because I asked for someone else to walk in.
Did another reality check and my hands were really gross looking. It was warm in my room, so I opened up my window closest to my bed.
I turned around and saw this man in his 60's who had a white beard and mustache. Just a goatee, I'd say. He had a brown leather jacket on and he just kept walking closer and closer to me and licking his lips. Hi, pedophile. I started to get sufficiently creeped out by this old man as he was about a few inches away from grasping my arm. "NO! YOU NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE!" I screamed. Without any hesitation, he turned right around and like walked out, but it seemed like he was sped up. As if you were fast forwarding a tape in the VCR! Neat.
After that ordeal, I looked at the door again and I saw this middle-aged woman who had black, tight curls in her hair. She was only sporting a bra, booty shorts, and stockings. Kinda like Britney Spears at the VMAs.... only old. She looks at me and goes, "You know you want this! I'm so hot! Look at my curves!" I looked her up and down and said, "Well, too bad I'm not a lesbian and too bad you're freaking hideous, woman!" She gave me this shocked look and said that she was so hot and all the men wanted her. I told her to leave and she walked out of my room and down the hallway to my parents room. I followed her, because she was still ranting and raving. Seemed like every other word was, "WHATEVA!" I go, "I'm DREAMING! I can make you do whatever I want you to do" I did a RC on my hands again and it was still ugly as ANYTHING. She gave me this "wtf?" look and I told her that I was missing a few fingers and my ring finger was jutting out. "Whateva" she said and walked into my parents room.
"Done with her." I said as I walked into my room. Sat down again.

Woke up. Did a RC a few times. Nope. Real life now.

      That was super interesting.
So far I have found that I don't pick neat things to do during my dreams. It kinda feels like my brain really isn't there and I just am not thinking properly. Still have not felt complete control in my dreams. Like how come I don't decide to go downstairs or something?! I always stay in one place... Well, minus the mall part of my first dream.
And there are always creepers in my dreams! Pedophile/Slutty woman and the singing priest in the last dream! Jeez louise! Give me a break!

Anyway, it was exciting to have another LD in a week!

Have a good day everyone! ;]

Ah, I'm sorry you needed this. I've been under the influence of some pretty hefty drugs for a hernia surgery and some anti-deppressants unfortunately.. and had some strange dreams...they can do funny things. Enjoy the benefits if you think it's helping, but know that you're capable without it.

Yes! I love the rush of excitement that comes over me with a reality check failing...a whole world right there for you to control (with practice). The nose RC I like the best for sure.

Hey! Don't worry about it.. that's so very common. Control and the other faculties will come over time and you'll learn to keep your priorities straight in dreams..it's easy to forget and get carried away but there are strategies that will keep you on track and in control..just enjoy the journey. (sounds like you are )

You've already had 2 epic lucid dreams..that was far better than me when I first began..I'm sure you'll be getting many more

Hahahah! I won't do any of that quote business to respond back to you, sir! Too much effort! ;]

Yeah! I'm really surprised that I had this dream, quite frankly! It was great! I'm glad I made you laugh ;]

Just to let you know, the chick in the bra and booty shorts. Not. Good. Looking. Horrific, actually. So get your mind outta the gutter!

      Hahahahahah! He's a sweetie!

I knew today would be a fabulous day because of my wonderful lucid dream and then I just went downstairs to check the mail and I saw a large envelope from my number one college

      "Dear Erin,
Congratulations! I am very pleased to tell you that our Admissions Committee has accepted you as a student at DeSales University!"

Then I started sobbing profusely that I got into college, finally! ;] ;] ;]

Just felt the need to share it with ya!

      Night of December 20, 2007:

      Just to make a note:
Took two Percocets before I went to bed and I did NOT have a lucid dream.
That helps me clarify that its not just the pills that are making me have my dreams.
My next goal is to have one WITHOUT drugs! ;] We'll try tonight!

In other news, I didn't have a single dream last night! What a slap in the face!

Hopefully I'll have better luck tonight!

      Sweet dreams!

Yeah...lucid dreams can be evasive and cruel like that...It's hard to take when you have a great night of dreams and then the next day, nothing..

Don't worry, yours were epics and i'm sure you'll be having some more soon.

Hmm--I think it was your own mind giving you the LD's..not the drug, though the might have enhanced it..anyway,

Hope luck is with you tonight.

Since my last post, I have not recalled a single dream.

I feel as if my spark has died down.
      I'll keep trying.

One person is just cluttering my head.

A good clutter. A bittersweet clutter, actually.

Hey! I didn't notice your DJ until I saw your reply in bro's thread...

Read all your dreams and I'm impressed! Don't say they are not special, they are! Getting this long and epic lucids from the start is really amazing. Lucky you!
I especially like the part where you ask your cat to do these things for you.
And the scene where you ran straight into the glass made me giggle
You have a pretty good control over your mind already, I sense some great potential in here

Don't worry about the loss of recall, if you read more DJs, you'll see everybody has on and off days. It will come back soon enough! (me also has a bit worried feeling about someone and it affects dream recall for me too )

Hey. Nice journal. You have a good writing style and some fun entries. Your first two lucids are awesome. Don't worry about no control or things like that. I struggle to even have lengthy lucids (I feel jealous at how long yours are from the start) let alone.

Congrats on getting accepted to DeSales. I'm glad for you.

Hope your back feels better soon without complications.

Thank you so much! I really just am having a good time writing down all my dreams and what not! ;] Well, the dreams that I do have! Hmmph!

We're still working out some financial issues with me going to DeSales. It'll work out in the end, I know it

And thank for for thinking about my back! It gets better and better every day! Now I just have this beautiful 2 inch incision still recovering on my back! Absolutely fabulous! ;] ;] ;]

      Have a great day!

Lets talk about frustration, shall we?!

      Dear whomever,
I'd love to have another dream. I'll let you beat me in guitar hero if necessary! It'll be fun, promise!
      Love your girl,

      Eureka!

I'm starting to think that I'm having VERY short dreams that I can hardly recall, but as the day goes on, I begin to remember little pieces.
      For instance:
I had a quick dream two nights ago (that I finally remembered a little of this morning) that my friend, Matt, and I were in my kitchen and he was looking around the sink and said, "Why do you have all of these figurines?" I looked at him and replied, "My mom gets them with her tea."
Which is true, by the way! Red Rose tea!

Another example would be just the word Linux. Hahahahah! I vaguely remember someone asking me in my dream if I used Linux or something other than that. I didn't say Linux and I felt pretty good about myself because I knew what he was talking about! Bwahah!

I was rudely awoken by my cat this morning who decided to "make muffins" on my stomach. Ugh. Thank you, animal. I appreciate it. Didn't even open up my eyes until I could figure out what I had dreamt about... no dice, until now!

And I'm listening to Drake Bell.

The mexican kid with the peach fuzz was funny, as well as the old man licking his lips (Ewwwwww....). Sorry you couldn't find anyone more appealing.

Hahahah! Thanks! I wish I would have a REAL conversation with them, though. The woman just seemed concerned about her body and how I would think she was attractive. Ugh. I can still see her in my mind. Not. Good. Looking.

Yes! I cannot believe my poor CAT turned into that mexican boy! Gosh! Definitely Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite! I thought it was neat that the mustache just disappeared when I asked it to, though! He gave me such a dirty look! Hahahah!

      Why hello!
      Thanks for droppin' in

Hahahahah! But honestly, you could tell they were just people that had sheets over their heads. It wasn't scary, but I guess I was frightened by them in the dream... which is rather silly

Hahah! I love my cat a whole lot (since he is sitting in front of me cleaning himself) but he is bloody inconsiderate when I'm trying to sleep. Jerk

Now I'm off to check out your DJ!
