      Yelizaveta's Dream Journal

I am new to this and have never lucid dreamed. I am starting a dream journal to improve my dream recall and find my dream signs. False Awakenings have been common for me when waking up to an alarm clock and needing to get to class. They get really vivid, but are surreal, like once i got up and started to put on a ball gown to go to physics class. But this always fails to make me lucid. These are the most realistic dreams I have...
anyways here is my dream journal:
      December 31, 2007
I am in Charleston for some reason, driving my boat ( a 42 ft yacht that I have in real life) down the street. I don't have good control of it and keep veering off into someone's driveway, the same driveway each time, until an angry man in a red velvet robe comes out and yells at me, and i'm sent to a yacht driving training camp somewhere. it's basically a donut shaped bay, and i cruise in my boat around it in circles and keep trying to get out to the main body of water, but i'm not allowed. then a hole appears in the wall of the bay and i see an old school friend's little sister. She invites me to go on a whitewater body rafting ride with her, it's basically like a complex water slide with rapids that starts from the hole. My dream focuses on this for a while, it's really fun. Then I realize that this girl is actually my daughter and I also have a son named simon who i keep in a jar in my purse (and this seems completely normal) I realize this complex has a huge church and i decide i want to see it. so we take this path up to the church, which is really gorgeous inside and we are taken to the preacher. He is bedridden with some illness. When i see him I say 'don't bother standing up because I'm a woman" and he says 'it's ok, the fact that i can't move a lot makes me an excellent model" then he preens. Then I leave the church and I don't remember any more..also all he floors in the church had different colored lines on them drawing paths to different places in the church. it was really convenient.
I also remember a dream fragment where I'm riding the biggest indoor roller coaster in the world with my old high school roommate, which is located in some sort of bookstore/ weird fair. Then roommate's mom's car overheats while sitting (w/ engine off) in the parking lot so we have to leave.
p.s. this is the most vividly i've recalled a dream in a while. I think saying to myself firmly before falling asleep that I must remember my dreams helped a lot.
and one more thing...i have the funniest feeling that during the night i dreamt that I had experienced lucid dreaming, but dont remember it now...so i think i actually didnt lucid dream at all, ironic, huh?

Ugh i had a bad night last night. New Years was fun, but then i could not get to sleep. I was sick and had cramps to top it off... so i wasn't expecting to remember any dreams this morning, but after half an hour of being up and feeling better I remembered a few...a few fragments of one dream.

      January 1, 2008
I was for some reason about to enroll in my old high school again. The first part of the dream I'm in my room deciding what to wear, and for some reason end up in the shortest black miniskirt I've seen and thigh high leather boots. Then I leave and take a short bus(the kind they use for preschoolers) to school. i'm with a friend and we run to get our schedules, get distracted by a large jewelry display in the main office that gets me really angry for some reason, and I end up taking a job serving smoothies to some sports team instead of going to classes. I revolutionize the smoothie-serving business at our school by serving them in larger cups (???) and make lots of money. Throughout the dream, there's tension with my parents, but over nonsensical stuff, and also a large quantity of appearances by short buses. Overall, it was not the most pleasant dream I've had...there was sooo much other detail that I remember, it's as if my dream recall had been improved by 50% after one night...I remember that the jewelry display in the main office included protective pads so people wouldn't bang their heads on the counter, and that I aided the office ladies in figuring out the nefarious things the boy who wrote the class review column and said snarky things about teachers was up to.... yeah...oh and i remember some poor little girl who was about 8 years old being removed from the high school football team b/c her parents thought it made her too boyish, and were afraid of her becoming a butch lesbian.

So, haha based on three dreams no dreamsigns I can see. Hopefully it'll come soon...

      Hey guys,
Last night was weird, I was sick so I took nyQuil and it managed to knock me out from midnight last night to noon today. Unfortunately I think it also made my dream recall off since i woke up quite a while after my last REM period.
      January 2, 2008
All I remember is a really pleasant fragment of dancing and another really pleasant fragment of swimming underwater... I wish I could remember the whole dream! I think I'll skip the nyQuil tonight. Although both fragments are really vivid, and the water was the perfect temperature..

Last night I remember dreaming I was going on vacation. The dream mirrored some aspects of a vacation I recently took, where I enjoyed myself but had the company of 2 people I didn't like. These two people were also in my dream, but as caricatures of themselves. Basically they were falling down drunk through every second of my dream and the dream vacation, and they got on my dream nerves so much. I really didnt dream about any of the great parts of the recent vacation, just the annoying ones. These past few nights I have been dreaming these dreams that have uniformly made me feel nervous and anxious, it's really unpleasant.

Well, I had a false awakening this morning, dreaming that I was on facebook, with my laptop on my lap, adding "lucid dreams" to my "interests" section. ironic, right?
My earlier dream I remember only parts of. It took place in my parents' house, but my parents were not there. My boyfriend and I were running some sort of business out of the house, but it wasn't clear what. it involved lots of dogs running around...and I was quite cheerful about it. I remember one section of the dream in which my bf and I are having sex, which is very unusual because I've either never had sex appear in my dreams or never remembered it before...as hard as that might be to believe.
I have decided to record attempts at lucids such as WILDing attempts from now on so I can record my progress.
Attemped: WILD with no WBTB. I decided to try it before sleep because my alarm is so loud it jars me awake and scares me so I can't get back to sleep. A problem I need to get around soon. I lay back, relaxed, and tried listening to relaxing music, which keeps my mind focused on music and not on something that could keep me awake. After a while I was very numb, I couldn't even tell if my hands were on my belly or at my sides. I experienced strange motions, not like falling but like being shaken side to side, but then they stopped and that was as far as I got, and my headphones were uncomfortable, so I ended up turning on to my side and falling asleep quite quickly.
I think next time I will forget the music, do a real WBTB WILD, and try Clairity's technique. If anyone has any suggestions for me they are welcome!

I remember one dream very clearly this morning. It's related to real life in many ways. The dream begins in a Menards (building supply store) and i am wandering around the store with my parents. Then I start looking for a pair of sturdy gloves but when I find a pair they are 500 dollars and fit weird because my thumb is in a strange position in relation to my other fingers. (RC, anyone? darn!) Then I look up and see the parents of a little girl that I tutor (in real life, she is a home-schooled gifted 10 year old and I am her algebra 2 teacher) so i try to appear knowledgeable about gloves since I work for them (also, i am in fact looking for a pair of gloves before tomorrow since I am going skiing tomorrow). The parents are at Menards looking for some sort of rubberized tree house building material so their daughter doesn't hurt herself. then I open a cupboard that I see contains large piles of candy, like twix and kisses, and steal some. They were tastier in the dream than in real life. I then somehow end up taking some family friends (a couple that is friends with my parents) and some girl and her boyfriend who i don't know in real life, to the house of th girl I tutor. No one is home, so we sit in the hot tub they have outside (the house is different in the dream) and talk about random things. I remember the girl had this necklace made of large combination clock/compass things, and her bf was very surly. Then we decided to go inside since the tub got cold and all went into their house dripping wet and raided the kitchen. I was annoyed because the girl's feet were bothering me, she was sitting with her feet pressed into my side. Then I woke up.
      Lucid Attempts
Before going to sleep I relaxed for 30 min listening to a subliminal lucid mp3, which I guess didnt work, but I was highly skeptical of it and kept being freaked out when i heard these obvious recordings of someone speaking backwards sprinkled throughout the mp3. So that's not my thing. I then, as I was falling asleep, meditated/hypnotized myself, saying i would have great dream recall and have lucid dreams. I guess the first statement came true...
That's about all I did in my lucid attempts tonight, because i cannot do WBTB right now.

I am very confused about my dream this night. I had great recall, but not writing it down right away has left gaps in the beginning of the dream. As far as I can remember, the beginning involved a regular dream that involved me and my old roommate. Then..this is where it gets confusing...I think i dreamed that i realized it was a dream, and did a nose reality check, breathed through my nose, and let the dream continue, I remember at this point we were in some sort of carriage, then I remember thinking in the dream, hey this is a dream, I should fly, so I took this running/flying leap, and ended up whooshing into the air, and it felt very realistic, but then i got up too high in the clouds and remembered I wanted to go underwater, so i swooped down into the ocean, and started breathing underwater. Then I remember dreaming, hey I cant wait to go on dreamviews and write about my very first lucid dream, and maybe i even dreamed writing in my journal, i remember waking up going over the regular beginning of the dream as if in preparation for writing it down. This sounds like a lucid dream ,and it was quite vivid, but i have the weird feeling I was merely dreaming about becoming lucid, doing reality checks, and doing a couple cool things instead of actually being lucid, like i wasnt truly controlling my actions or thinking rationally, and now i'm confused...did i have a lucid?? I can't even explain the feeling!

I had a really upsetting dream last night. See, I recently took a final exam which i felt was graded unfairly, for example getting 3 points out of 10 on a problem that was correct but graded wrong because the person grading had a set answer key and my solution was a bit different. Did I get the points back? nooo, because the 'books have closed' on last semester.
Anyways, done with rant. In the dream, I receive this final exam grade and am very upset so i go to the teacher, and he is stubborn and refuses to listen to me. i do some detective work and magically find out the teacher has hired out someone from an insane asylum to do the grading for a very cheap price. i'm really upset because i go visit this insane person and the person is taking vindictive pleasure in giving me a bad grade, the teacher is pretending it didnt happen, and I'm stuck screaming at a person in a cell. it was a really unpleasant dream....and i almost never have dreams about grades!

Last night i had an ever so rare dream with sexual content. It began with me, but I'm not really myself, i'm a character, like in a book. I'm this kind of gypsy type woman, very exotic looking too, and I have a jewelry shop in a city with cobbled streets which looks like it's out of some medieval fantasy landscape. I am sitting at a purple velvet draped stand outside my shop making jewelry, and it's warm out. Under the table I have a talking cockatiel who's kind of grumpy and emerges from under the velvet every once in a while to mouth off about something. A man approaches, and he looks just like my boyfriend in real life, but he is also playing a character, it's not really him. He approaches my table and sits down, asking about a key. Apparently I have some sort of key for him. I tell him it's inside, and the cockatiel comes out and demands to be let in to the shop so he can go to sleep. So I let both the bird and the man into the shop. I suddenly decide i want to sleep with the man, and the shop is in this kind of dusky golden light, so I make bedroom eyes at him. He gets the hint, and we start getting into a rather detailed, steamy scene, and it is great, but I remember being frustrated in the dream because every time i tried to kiss him on the mouth he did something else, and we did everything but kiss...

Darn my alarm did it again...i remembered my dream...but now I don't.
I remember it wasn't very interesting though, one of those right-as-you're-waking-up fragments anyways.
I haven't updated my WILD attempts because with school I have no time to WILD so i've just been hoping for dilds lately...but this weekend I hope to attempt one again.

Ughhh I had a tossing and turning night last night. One of those where you could swear you've been awake all night. So it was bad, but judging from the fact I did not wake up exhausted I can bet I was dreaming at least part of the tossing and turning...I should have been doing reality checks all night, I probably could have flown myself to a tropical island and relaxed instead of tossed and turned *kicks self repeatedly*

I had another tossing and turning night very similar to last night; I'm not sure what causes these, but I absolutely hate them! I am going to do some relaxation tomorrow night, maybe try Howie's 61 point technique, and repeat some affirmation about having a lucid, actually having some quality dreams, remembering them, etc.

Yup. Tossing and turning is a pain. The Point Method works, concentrating on breathing... oh loads of different relxation techniques. And don't forget about auto-suggestion.
You do this every fucking time.
      No sweat.
      No tears.
      No guilt.

The 61 point relaxation technique can certainly work. All the points were taken from ETWOLD.
The entire method is in my opinion not really necessary. That is to say - do not get frustrated if you find it to be difficult to go through every one of the 61 points of relaxation.
Don't be afraid to tweak this technique to how you see fit, to what works for you.

Wow I somehow remembered 3 dreams, even though I didn't wake up and record through the night, I wonder how it's possible. I will record them in order of least to most remembered. Also, I fell asleep quickly and easily because I'd had a great day, and I was going to bed reallllly tired and late.
      Dream #1
This was 3rd person. I was not one of the characters in the dream, it was sort of like watching a movie. It took place on a pirate ship, which was run by a blowfish who was not really a pirate but who protected little fish from the seduction of big fish (Yes. I know.) And he had a good friend who a little silver fish named Lenny, and he saw lenny about to be seduced by a shark, so he captured him and started some sort of cleansing process. Lenny was enraged at being caught and put through unpleasant processes by his blowfish friend, who actually walked on his tail and wore a pirate suit. There was more, but that's all i can remember.

      Dream #2
I can't actually remember if this was 3rd or 1st person, strangely enough, but i'm 70% sure it was 1st person or at least i experienced the thoughts of the main character. This dream wasn't very visual or vivid (or I don't remember) but it was about a 35 year old male (from who's perspective i believe i felt/saw the dream) who is a theif, and who, every single birthday, traditionally steals 1,000 in merchandise from a department store, and in the dream the 36th birthday is approaching and he is (I am?) trying to overcome the impulse to go steal. Again there was more but I don't remember.

      Dream #3
This is the most vivid, and remembered dream. I was me, riding the train from evanston to chicago, (I go to Northwestern University) and there was this man sitting next to me. I opened a Northwestern newspaper, and read an article that a group of people were going to be baking a cake and sharing it with the needy at one pm the next day. Yes. A cake. One. But this seemed soo generous and nice in the dream. Then I noticed the man pictured next to the story as the professor behind the cake idea, was the man sitting next to me. So I struck up conversation and it turned out a group of about 10 people would be baking this cake and they were all meeting in chicago and making it a weekend-long event. But none of them had ever been to chicago (even the NU professor who lived in evanston) so he hired me as a tour guide of chicago. So i meet this group of 10 people at the train station and they go to some sort of grassy meadow to start baking. the baking lasts all day, then they all go to bed, and I'm not really sure where I'm sleeping, but the next morning I'm woken up by the main lady who takes me downstairs to address the group. they are all dressed awfully, and I notice half the group is 5 year old kids. So I re dress them and start asking everyone what they want to see. One person voices a fear of stairs. We go outside and all the skyscrapers are concealed by dense white fog. We go back to the meadow and the cake is ready. The main lady, who is kind of mean, cuts it into 10 pieces, one for each member of the group, and leaves the tiniest sliver of cake for the needy, claiming she can feed 20 people on it. Then I get all angry and yell at her for being a greedy bitch, but then, contradictorily, demand a slice of my own...

I had a really long dream yesterday. It started with my dad telling me I had an appointment with my math teacher at noon. I drove my car to this huge pavilion type place which in the dream was my university. It had several large pools, some restaurants, etc. It was really cool. So, I decided to go for a swim. I had to sign up to swim, and then some creepy guy in the pool did something...creepy, I dont remember what. Then I found myself on a beach, and I was kicked off for having too revealing of a swimsuit. So I went to a 'class' where someone was giving a presentation, i don't remember what, and the guy invited everyone up on stage to draw something. Everyone else drew squiggles, but I drew a very detailed portrait of face. I had talent...and everyone decided I was psychic for some reason. Then I saw it was noon, and went to meet my math teacher. He handed me two russian abstract algebra textbooks and told me, do problems 1 and 5. Problems 1 and 5 are amazing. Then I left, and decided I needed a haircut, and found my math teacher at the salon. I asked him why he was here and he looked all insulted and asked me "why not cut hair on the side?" I didn't trust him and so did not get a haircut. Then I went to have dinner, and my sister and mom were there, and I ordered a hamburger (should have made me lucid, I hate hamburgers...) but instead got a huge silver platter filled with chunks of meat and a watermelon cut out into the shape of a donkey. I ate dinner, and then decided I wanted to move to ancient egypt. I found myself in ancient egypt. I was a pharoah, like cleopatra. There I encountered the russian abstract algebra textbooks again, but decided to leave when they wanted to marry me to my brother. I found myself in a dark alley, and the russian mathematician who penned the textbooks was walking there too. I tried to get the secret of problems 1 and 5 from him but he was kidnapped...that part was a lot weirder but I don't remember the details...i wish i remembered more!
I think ancient egypt was the coolest part of the dream...at least until they tried to force an incestuous marriage on me.

I think ancient egypt was the coolest part of the dream...at least until they tried to force an incestuous marriage on me.
Problems 1 and 5. Something to do with when you were 15?

Ancient Egypt - great. Never been anywhere like that in my dreams.

I don't really see how this could have any connection to when I was 15...math is just a big part of my life so it appears in my dreams a lot.

I always look for hidden meaning. Irritating habit of mine

Last night I dreamt in 3rd person, like I was watching a movie. It was about this island where any visitor would be taken as a slave. The way it worked is that visitors to the island would arrive, and were forced to run on this highway alongside the cars, and strangely they could run as fast as the cars. When a car stopped and pulled over for a runner, that runner would become the slave of the person in the car. The story was from the perspective of one man who arrived on the island, and when he ran the highway no one picked him up, so he ran all the way to the end. At the end, there was a supermarket. He wandered around the supermarket comparing prices to those at home. Then the higher-ups notice he is ownerless, and no one on the island needs a new slave, so he is left to wander about the supermarket. In the supermarket, he notices they sell jewelry anf he makes jewelry, so he finds the jewelry selling guy and asks if the jewelry guy can sell the jewelry he makes, which is similar to the jewelry on display. The jewelry guy offers him only a pittance for his jewelry, so he is enraged and begins plotting against the island. At some point he gains control of the island (I forget how, but it was in the dream) but he becomes this evil dictator and all the people hate him. He now begins to look like a goth-y cross between Edward Scissorhands and Jack Skellington and lives in a mansion with a local woman he married who wears a wonderwoman outfit and has blonde hair. Nobody can depose or assassinate him for some reason; I think he has magical powers. In fact, at the end of the dream he taunts the natives by stringing himself up by the neck trying to hang himself, and the natives have to rush and cut him down even though they hate him, because if he dies they will all die for some reason. Oh and he forces everyone to wear the jewelry he makes, which is actually quite pretty.

Your dreams are very fun to read. They are all really different, and though random the main idea doesn't really change. I sort of wish I dreamt like you because almost all my dreams take place at school, on my bicycle, or at home! Like you said in chat, your dreams seem to have something humorous in them, at least upon waking up. Keep up the journal!

I had a hard time getting to sleep last night, another tossing and turning night.
I don't remember any of my dreams except that when my alarm rang at 8 am i flew upright to turn it off because in my dream at that moment some one was reaming me out about sleeping too much and I guess it had gotten to me. Then I relaxed in my bed and it felt infinitely more comfortable than it had the previous night. Oh, the irony.
Another note, as I was falling asleep, or trying to, when I realized I was having issues getting to sleep, I tried imagining myself to be swinging gently in a hammock. It didn't really work.
