      Garlic Reborn

I used to be a compulsive liar. Not in real life; just here on the internet. I never though of other posters as free minds but rather objects for me to manipulate. Also I see the irony here so please don't point it out.

When I came to that realization everything in my life was put into perspective and I am what the Christians would call 'born again.' Except my faith isn't Christianity; it is in my self. I'm confident I can become a lucid dreaming master but the honest truth is I don't care if I ever have a dream because I'm already living the greatest one there is; that is life as Garlic.

Sociology class has completely changed my world view in that I never had a sociocentric view of the self. I didn't care what people thought about me and now I do. I wake up every morning at 6:00 and go to bed every night at 11:00... I'm like Harold Crick from Stranger than Fiction except that I've created my routine and I'm loving it.

Am I normal? No, I'm not and I'm okay with it. I'm comfortable with everything about myself and my only problem now is not to be a completely open book.

So, I am going to try to develop into my routine a keeping of a journal that I'm going to write in right when I wake up. I'm going to record my last memory and post it here. If it's a dream I will state that it was a dream and if it isn't I'll post what I wrote in the journal anyway from what my imagination has created. I wake up every morning at 6:00 and eat breakfast at 7:00; the time between waking and eating right now is just video games and I feel this would be a more 'constructive' use of my time.

Everything will be in the first person just so you can get an insight into my mind.

Someone once asked me; Garlic sum yourself up in one word... and I can do that now; My ego is bigger than yours.

      EDIT: my old dream journals
http://ld4all.com/forum/viewtopic.ph...3f91120f9cc2a9 I was very passionate about lucid dreaming when I posted this(2004). I learned about lucid dreaming in April of 2004 but didn't post on the forum until August. I was a compulsive liar but the one thing I never lied about were my dreams because a lie about them would be a lie to myself... I know how diluted that sounds and I have changed.
http://ld4all.com/forum/viewtopic.ph...728&highlight= This dream journal started a year later and 3 months after I moved to canada. You can see me lying here. I'm embellishing my lucid dreaming credentials. The truth is I only get interested in lucid dreaming when I think about it and then I act on impulse until I get bored. The difference here is that I hope never to get bored again... also I don't care if I ever have a lucid dream again, I know I will because all my lucid dreams I've had(under 10 I'd guess) were spontaneous.

A False Awakening and a night at the arcade.

      Hitting Attractive Girls

My first dream of my rebirth is a false awakening. Which I find funny because if I recall correctly my first dream when I first found out about lucid dreaming was a false awakening, though I could be mistaken. I remember the dream was about me hitting on attractive girls, and all I remember of the dream that spawned the false awakening was that the 3 girls were the most attractive ones in my physics class and my line to get there MSN was as follows: "Hey girls, can I get your MSN?" and the girls said "Why?" and I said, "I want to test the theory if beauty is only skin deep." They complied and I awoke.

I woke up and grabbed my journal and looked at the window. I couldn't see the sun on the horizon. So it was well before when my alarm usually goes off; I figured I would just jot down a note and that note is what I remember most vividly about the dream: "hitting attractive girls." Opened my journal, flipped through the writing as it is my regular journal also. I got to the next blank page and wrote down the note. I fell back to sleep and had the dream I most vividly remember; as it was the dream I had right before waking

      The Casino

My mom works at a casino; in fact as I type this she is working right now. She gets off at 7:00 local time, which is in OH SHIT(I actually got up here to put pants on as I was sitting in the nude. It hit me that she got home last night at 11:30PM and that she was due back at 7:00AM... as I sit back down her alarm went off) I'll leave this in for potential humor.

My mom works at a casino; in fact as I type this her alarm is going off... some jingle on her radio I can't quite name. She'll be up to shower and off to work at 7:00 sharp; she needs to be in at 7:15. There are three buildings with 28-35 machines each with various games in which you can lose money. She works at any one of the three and lots of times I drive her.

The dream starts off with me walking into a building. It wasn't my moms place of employ as it was very bright and the games weren't the same as the one at my mom's work. I went up to the guy at the counter and asked, "this is my first time here how do I do this." He asked "which machine do you want.", to which I replied "the one with the keno", I turned around and pointed at the only machine that wasn't occupied with a game I could recognize. The truth is I recognized all the games. They were 8 bit games though the only one I could recognize for sure was PacMan. Anyway the guy gives me a ticket and tells me to have a nice day. As I turn around another lady gets up and sits at the machine. I tell the guy and he gets up from behind the desk to berate her but, then I said to myself "they're all the same; I'll just pick anyone." So, I sat down at an arcade cabinet. I can't even remember the name as I didn't look at it long enough. All I remember is the title screen.

      It read as follows
      "4 19 4
      New Game"

I clicked 4 and on the screen popped up "Enter Password" and there was a jumble of letters and symbols that looked like the damn Zodiac cypher. I clicked New Game. The level was very familiar but the only thing I could actually place was that the main character was Michaelangelo.. the turtle not the artist. As I write this it has so much significance to what I did yesterday and recently; I'll touch on this later.

The game was a very fun platformer and I got to a boss that was very cool. He looked like Alien from the movie except 8 bit and very colorful. He was yellow but when I beat him he became green and had a new ability. This went on for 5 times and is almost a carbon copy of the boss from the game Gunstar heroes... you had to play the game to get the reference. It was really cool dodging the the bosses attacks but I died on the 5th one. When I died I figured, "this is boring and I came here to play actual casino games"

I walked through the door I came in but instead of going outside I went into a casino very reminiscent of where my mom works. All the machines were really full and instead of asking I just sat down. I looked and saw something very similar to keno. It was a touch screen but there were no numbers. So I just read the rules and it said "Pick 7 numbers." There were no numbers so I just hit 7 boxes and clicked "GO." Every box flashed in order and after the flash it either dimmed or stayed lit up. I remember the pattern I clicked too and I could draw it for you but I don't know if it is significant. Anyway only one box I clicked stayed lit up and I won 13 cents. My credits on the bottom right said "$2.13" So I played another game. I clicked 7, same pattern, and went to hit go but I asked my self "what would happen if I click 10?" So I clicked 3 random squares. The flash sequence started and everyone stayed lit up, I thought I won and was going nuts but nothing happened. My credits said "$2.13" afterwards. So, the game reset and I clicked the same pattern. Except when the sequence happened they all stayed lit up and the machine did a little jingle, people looked at me... my credits said $1155. I printed my ticket and went to the cashier. She told me to put the ticket into the ticket reader. As I put it in a receipt came out. The receipt said "TOTAL WON: 1155$ TAX: 142$" I went to the cashier and she said something very profound to me... something I already believe but she sort of reaffirmed my beliefs. I said, "I'm a native of this band and I was wondering if I still have to pay tax." She said, "We are all equal here, everyone has to pay tax, you all have the same chance to win."

I looked behind her and noticed a chef and two bowls on his counter. One was empty and the other was filled to the brim with Macaroni and Cheese. All I could wonder was "what was in the empty bowl"

      Correlations to my Life

The hitting on attractive girls dream that I had in junction with the FA is actually something I thought up yesterday. I played it out with my imagination though I lived it out in my dream. I am going to do it in real life for sure because I know I can get any girls MSN, I believe I'm a master of rhetoric... and the only way to see if I am is if I can get these girl's MSN. I am morbidly obese and for lack of a better term, ugly. I know when you read my plan it is mean but comedy is all about delivery.

My dreams are ironic, looking back it looks like my subconscious is making fun of me. I'm currently neglecting all my Wii games and playing 8 and 16bit Virtual Console games. The macaroni and cheese. Right now I'm trying to figure out what was in the bowl and my only thought is "what is better than macaroni and cheese?" EVERYTHING. The most obvious though is playing as Michaelangelo in my dream... it has so much meaning in my life. Yesterday someone made a topic at another message board I post at. It was on the "Life, Universe, and Everything" board where basically anything goes. One of the topics was as follows "Donatello, Leonardo, Raphael, or Michaelangelo(THE ARTISTS NOT THE TUR." I knew Leo and Mike were artists but not the other two. I then realized I never actually seen their artwork. So I went to wikipedia and looked at all their art. Michaelangelo stunned me. Peita or Pieta just had me in awe, I stared at it for at least ten minutes. The detail is amazing, I saved the picture and went into photoshop because I wanted to make it a background. I was messing around with photoshop for at least an hour trying to make it look like a cool background. But I had an epiphany, at the end of the hour I said, "Oh my god, I'm trying to improve upon Michaelangelo... I'm crazy." So I just ended up formatting the orignal picture so it would fit on my screen without distorting its proportions. The awesome thing is that I'm appreciating art... I'm not even a religious man and I think that is the most amazing thing I've ever seen.

Anyway, I ran here when I found out I had a false awakening because I thought it was so funny(irony). My first dream when I first found out about lucid dreaming was a false awakening. I didn't even write, I jotted down notes and rebuilt the dreams from memory as best I could. I'm going to leave them here. Don't expect the Correlations to my Life to be in every entry, I don't have the time to spend over an hour psychoanalyzing myself... this will be the first and only time I use it. I can't have walls of text for every entry... well I can but I don't want them.

When I awoke I literally ran to the computer when I found out I had an FA. Instead of writing in my journal I just jotted down the most important notes of the dreams I could remember and built the dreams from these notes. Below is what my journal entries usually look like, I build my dreams from these memories. I my computer was on and I came to dreamviews, I was here no exaggeration less than a minute after I awoke.

      Notes:
Wrote in journal, about dream, wrote "hitting attractive girls." Woke up, wasn't there. Never looked at the clock because was tired and I couldn't see the sun so I figured my alarm never went off

Another dream about playing at an arcade for adults, a casino. Went to the first building and the games were very very weird. Like they were actual 8 bit video games but ones I've never seen before. Couldn't find out how I could win money so I ended up going to the other building and they had traditional games, checked to see if mom was working, she was not, only had two dollars left, went in with over 10 at other building. Played two games and I remember now it was Keno but there were no numbers, you just clicked on white squares and when you hit go random squares lit up. Won 13 cents the first game, 2nd game clicked 10 squares even though rules said 7, third game won 1155, went to cash out 142 dollars tax, asked if natives had no tax and she said "everyone is equal here, you all have the same chance to win." Had blonde hair, never seen her before in my life. Behind her were two bowls, very large and on a counter. One had macaroni and cheese(right one), other was empty and behind that counter was a chef... I woke up

Welcome back, and welcome to a whole new, infinitely simpler, much more enjoyable and rewarding approach to things.

And as far as being "normal"... what's normal? According to whom?

Infinitely simpler is so true... don't have to remember lies anymore... my mind has been freed of the shackles.

What's normal? Well society deems what is normal and I figure society needs some oddballs so I'll be abnormal.

      London Bridge

I had dreams last night. I know I did but I woke up at a weird time. Yesterday when I awoke I was refreshed; awake and ready for the new day. Twenty minutes before my alarm usually goes off. Today I woke up 12 minutes after my alarm usually goes off and I was tired. The old Garlic would just go back to sleep and wake up when ever but I told my self to get up.

I laid there thinking about my dreams. The first thought that came to my mind was "London Bridge is burning." Does it mean anything? I don't know but I am going to look up the bridge on wikipedia and learn about it.

The other thought I had was profound; for me at least. Yesterday I was researching bipolar disorder because I was scared I might have it. Anyway when I thought about all I read last night the only thought that kept popping into my head was as follows: "there is a link between creativity and bipolar disorder." I mean I read the entire article yesterday and took notes but that is all I remember.

And the truth is I might have bipolar disorder. I checked myself into the mental health ward because I cracked under pressure. My grandfather had it and so does my twin brother and I've come to realize that I probably do have it but I am not going to self diagnose myself; I will let the doctor do that and then I will relay the information here.

      EDIT:
      Afterthoughts
Well I just went to London Bridge on Wikipedia and it turns out the bridge has a history of burning. Also doing the research it reminded me of one of my favorite songs I haven't listened to in a while. London's Burning by the Clash came into my head. The old me actually thought that was about London being on fire so I took a gander at the lyrics and they seemed pretty cool.

All across the town, all across the night
      Everybody's driving with full headlights
Black or white turn it on, face the new religion
      Everybody's sitting 'round watching television!

      and

Now I'm in the subway and I'm looking for the flat
This one leads to this block, this one leads to that
The wind howls through the empty blocks looking for a home
I run through the empty stone because I'm all alone

      Really stuck out at me.

Nothing today; nothing at all. I'm just here to post an update. I wasn't going to post if I didn't have a dream but I just took a nap and one of my first thoughts upon waking was "go post on Dreamviews."

I had wonderous dreams last night though it was like 3 am and I didn't bother to record it. I think tonight I'm going to make an effort to record everything tonight and see how it goes. My only fear is that I won't be able to fall back to sleep. It is a rational one though because it plagued me when I first started.

      Three Alien Craft

This dream I recorded at 3:15AM. I said I was going to record all my dreams no matter what so I did it. Except I didn't take in depth notes because it was 3:15 and I didn't want to stay up. I wrote what I thought was the most profound to me and here is the dream.

I'm on the couch of the house I grew up in looking out the window. The scene out the window isn't the view from that window though. It is night and the scene looks like a broken down city. Like New York in the film Escape from New York.

On top of a pile of rubble I notice what looks like a craft of some sort. It is saucer shaped and entirely smooth. I cannot make out its color since its quite dark but I do remember rubble and a few sporadic fires.

I went up stairs to my room. Why? I don't know. But I heard a crash and decided to run back down to the couch. A bit closer and on another pile of rubble was a new craft. It was still saucer shaped but I do remember it had more details than the first craft. As I was looking out another craft came crashing down.

It was rotating as it crashed and hit the ground with an impact that wasn't that forceful. This craft had lots of details. I remember it was midnight blue, had lights every few feet and in between the lights it had symbols I couldn't recognize. It was sticking out of the ground at like a 25 degree angle and the hull opened. There wasn't any pause or build up to the creature popping out. He came out as soon as those doors opened.

I couldn't tell you what he looked like biologically. All I can say is he was bipedal, 8 feet at least and broad shoulders... like 4 feet in length. He was wearing an all black leathery suit that too had details. It wasn't a blank jump suit. On his head he wore a helmet. It was a black orb and completely reflective. In his monstrous hand he was holding some sort of weapon. I can't give details on it because he was about 100 feet away. I remember him turning around and I saw his back. He drew his weapon and was pointing it at all the broken down buildings. When I saw him doing this I crouched down behind the couch and didn't look out the window.

I ran up stairs and talked to my brother. I don't remember what the hell I ran into. I remember it not being my house and I went to a place like a Chucky Cheese that has no patrons. That is all I remember of that scene. I remember going back down a set of stairs and being back in my living room.

I saw the couch but I stood behind a wall. The room was still nearly pitch black; the only light coming from the small fires out side. I went back to the couch and looked out. The three alien craft were still there but the creature was no where to be found.

No entry tonight but I know I had a dream. For some reason I'm waking up at around 3:00ish with these amazing dreams. I forgot them of course but I know for certain I had another one last night.

The only reason I didn't record this one was because my DJ was still in the scanner LOL. I was too lazy to get up.

I think next time I'll just get up... I'm not sure yet.
