whacking it during the '90s alternative reunion concert
Well I haven't smoked any marijuana for about three weeks because I moved to another state and I don't know anyone here. I had a chance to buy some and I didn't because I really want to have at least ONE LUCID dream before the summer is over. I have to admit that I am a little bit discouraged that it hasn't already happened although my dream recall is steadily improving so I guess I need to just remain consistent. This next dream I had this morning and I've already forgotten some details. I have a tape recorder beside my bed and I usually use that to record dreams before putting them on here but this morning I thought to myself "this dream is too stupid even for MY dream journal." Now I'm thinking that it's kind of funny so here it is . . .
I was back in college again although I was attending a made-up dream college that I am not familiar with in real life. There was a big rock concert taking place on campus. It was sort of a '90s alternative rock revival concert so of course I had to be there. I went there with my large tattoed friend Bryan who in real life doesn't care for live music because it hurts his sensitive ears and I think he hates crowds. The concert was taking place in an auditorium and everyone was seated on cheap, metal folding chairs. Bryan and I were seated about five rows back from the stage. The first band to play was Collective Soul and in the dream I was a much bigger fan than I am in real life. I remember liking them quite a bit in high school but in this dream I was loving the set they were playing. When they started playing "Shine," which was by far their biggest hit in the '90s, the lead singer got down from the stage and started going through the crowd giving high-fives while he sang "Ooooohhhh, heaven let your light shine down!!" You remember that song, don't you? Anyways, he got to the row in front of us and I suddenly felt an intense urge to give this guy a high-five. I reached out for his hand and he reached out for mine but we couldn't quite make the connection. He started heading back to the stage as he still sang the song and he gave me a little salute as a consolation prize. I guess in real life I probably wouldn't give a shit about high-fiving the dude from Collective Soul but hey whatever.
I knew that one of my favorite bands from the '90s, The Stone Temple Pilots, would be playing soon but for some reason I really needed to go to my ex-girlfriends' apartment which was there on campus. I went to her apartment, which was pretty much like it really is, except when I got there everything was moved out. "Oh yeah I guess she told me she was moving," I thought to myself. In real life I am not really on speaking terms with this girl. I couldn't remember why I had come to her apartment. I just stood around for a few minutes, thinking that I should get back to the concert so I didn't miss STP, but then I decided since I was alone that I would take a minute to rub one out. That is to say that I decided to masturbate in the empty apartment for some weird reason. Before doing this, I went all the way around the empty apartment and closed all of the window shades and blinds so no one in the surrounding buildings could look inside and see me whacking off. I finally accomplished this and then whipped out my junk and started going at it. I had been stroking it for about two minutes when suddenly someone burst into the apartment. It was one of my ex's roommates along with her boyfriend. They were just made-up dream characters because in real life she had different roomies. Luckily, they didn't see me doing my thing, so I grabbed a towel that was conveniently laying there, and I proceeded to say, "Oh hey guys I was just using the shower because mine is broken. I hope that's cool." I worried about how my hair was completely dry and I probably had a guilty-sounding tone to my voice. "Yeah, um, that's fine," said the roommate and she proceeded to go about her business with her boyfriend.
By now I decided that I definitely needed to get back to the concert so the dream magically skipped me back there. I went directly to the bar and ordered a beer. There wasn't a band on stage so I asked "Hey where's STP?" Some random guy said "they just finished their set." "FUCKING SHIT," I thought. I couldn't believe I missed them. I went back to my seat where Bryan was still sitting and he reiterated that I had missed STP. "Who's next?" I asked. He responded that Collective Soul was going to play AGAIN because there weren't any other bands for the '90s alternative reunion.
The dream then skipped again to sometime the next day and I was in a convenience store somewhere waiting in line to buy a drink. The guy in front of me was talking to the clerk about the '90s alternative reunion concert. The clerk asked how it was and the guy responded with "It was alright but Collective Soul sucked!" I didn't really agree but I decided to not even voice my opinion about it.
Weird false awakening with malfunctioning tape recorder
So close. Do a reality check, mutha-fucka!
I had this dream pretty close after going to bed. Maybe it was during the first REM period. I was hanging out at someone's house, not sure who it was, and we were sitting outside around the fire pit although there wasn't any fire going. I think I may have been holding a beer too. My friend Corey and his wife Ashley pulled up in their Suzuki and they got out and greeted us. Ashley seemed to be in a really good mood and in greeting me and my unknown dream character friend, she grabbed us both on our legs around the knee. I was surprised by this because she usually is a lot more shy and reserved. I sat there with these friends for a minute, just talking, and then I woke up from the dream.
That is to say that I THOUGHT I woke up. It was actually a false awakening, but a pretty realistic one. I couldn't see very well at all but I just attributed that to being really, really tired. I reached beside me to the nightstand and grabbed my tape recorder so I could record notes on the dream. I pushed the RECORD button but the little red light on the tape recorder did not come on. I then pressed PLAY on the recorder, and I could hear my voice like usual, but instead of describing a past dream I heard my voice screaming in terror. I was frantically describing something and I sounded scared out of my mind. I don't remember what was said except something about "THERE'S SIX OF THEM COMING AT ME!!!" I rewinded the tape a bit and tried to press RECORD but the red light still did not come on. I pressed PLAY again and there was just more screaming. I did this a couple more times before giving up. I thought to myself "I should do a reality check in case this is a dream," but I foolishly dismissed the idea.
I noticed that I was oriented strangely upon the bed, like I had changed sleeping positions completely during the night. Like I said, it was dark and I felt very tired so I couldn't see well at all. I could also hear my two-year-old nephew and my sister-in-law in another room so I thought that it was morning and almost time to get up, even though it was completely dark outside. When I woke up (in real life) it was only about two or three AM.
