      Glimphor's Dream Journal

Alright, so I'm pretty new to the whole forum thing, but there's a first time for everything and I thought this would be a good place to start.

I first discovered lucid dreaming, and this website, sometime in December 2006. I was intrigued, to say the least, and decided to give it a go, despite some initial skepticism. I almost immediately had a couple of DILDs, nothing impressive but it was at least enough to convince me that lucid dreaming is, in fact, possible. After this I only experienced a couple more LDs (the most memorable of which was an accidental WILD, which will be my first entry). Then I went to college and became too busy to bother with dream journals and RCs, and sleep was far too precious to waste time on WILD attempts. So I quit.

In the last couple of weeks though, my interest has been rekindled. I've begun to question my reality again (not RCs really, just keeping tabs on my state of mind) and today it's payed off. I am now officially lucid dreaming again.

Still, I've had a big problem with recall these last few months, and I've read time and again that DJs are by far the best way to improve on that. So here I am.

Any kind of feedback is welcome in this journal!

      Lucid (WILD/WBTB)

Like I mentioned before, my first entry will consist of my first LD. Appropriate, right? Now, I never wrote this dream down and it was about two years ago, so some of the details are a little fuzzy.

I woke up somewhere around 4 or 5 in the morning (I didn't look at the clock, but there was a little bit of light coming through the window) opened my eyes for a moment, and then fell back on the pillow with the intention of falling back to sleep. Almost as soon as I closed my eyes though, I started to get some pretty vivid HI. I regarded it passively, unlike past attempts at WILD where I got excited at the slightest hint of falling asleep while conscious. The image (some kind of unidentifiable green object) became more and more vivid until it reached full visual intensity. Then I felt my body go numb and got some pretty intense vibrations. When it all stopped I thought I had gotten too excited and woke myself up. So I opened my eyes.

I was shocked to see there was a big, domed ceiling lamp hanging inches above my bed. It was so real, I wouldn't have believed I was dreaming if it weren't for the lamp.

I tried to turn it on... no luck of course. So I got out of bed, being careful not to knock the lamp which was quite ornate in design. I walked out of my room to find myself in the hallway of my old house, which I hadn't lived in for five years. I walked into the living room, where it was suddenly broad daylight. Looking around, I noticed a Christmas tree in the corner and thought it must be Christmas day. The house was apparently empty, which made me feel a little lonely.

I decided I would step outside next. I went through the screen door into my old backyard. As I walked around, it occurred to me that I could fly. So of course I did. Sort of. I jumped about fifty feet in the air and began swooping down on my yard, from one side to the other. Pretty fun for a first flying experience, though I don't know why I didn't leave my property...
Anyway, at the high point of one of my swoops I though to myself "This is ridiculous, I can't fly!" So I fell. when I hit the ground, I woke up in bed.

It was dark, so I tried to turn on the light. I looked at my two bedside lamps and realized that one lamp was good, and the other was evil. Wait... I only have one lamp and it is neither good nor evil. It's just a lamp.

False awakening! But even though I knew it was a dream, the darkness was beginning to unsettle me. I felt an evil presence in my room, which I felt a need to escape. So I got out of bad and ran out of my door as fast as I could. Which was pretty fast. This time I ended up in the garage of my current house (throughout this dream I never left familiar territory). I heard music playing in the background somewhere, and noticed my guitar hanging from the ceiling. At this point I decided I would try to change the scene. I closed my eyes and spun, like I remembered reading about, while visualizing a lush jungle environment. When I opened my eyes, I was still in my garage.

I decided to walk around and take things in. When I reached the front I noticed the garage door was open slightly. I saw a guy next to an old orange pickup truck on my driveway. He was on the phone with someone, though I didn't hear what he was saying. When he got off the phone he went around and got in the car and drove away. Then the dream faded and I woke up for real.

So that's my first Lucid Dream worth telling about. It took a lot more typing than I thought it would.

That's hilarious. How can you be sure the lamp is neither good nor evil though?

Heh, good point. I guess it does have something evil about it. It tends to randomly turn itself off at weird times, and sometimes I have to flip the switch a couple times to make it turn on. Which sometimes fools me into thinking I'm having an FA.

      Lucid (DILD)

I attempted a WILD this afternoon. It wasn't exactly successful, but I did get an LD out of it. First I've had in two years.

I laid down somewhere around 10, I think. After laying there for half an hour or so I fell into normal sleep. I vaguely remember a non-lucid dream in which I was with a few college friends, driving somewere.

Next thing I remember, I was in bed. I could hear birds chirping and there was sunlight coming through my window (in real life it was raining heavily). I remembered my intent to WILD and found it was very easy, which may have had something to do with the fact that I was already dreaming.

I got some visuals of a forest, tree trunks that seemed to go on forever. I concentrated on these visuals and rubbed my hands together until I really felt like I was in the dream. I found myself on the ground of a bright pine forest. Everything was in pastel shades, and looked like it was from a late 90's video game. Not very impressive, but I was happy that I was dreaming at all. The first thing I did was start flying. I'm not sure how long I did this, but I know I was fully lucid the whole time. I remember one point where I was flying pretty fast and I hit a beam of sunlight. Suddenly it seemed as if the air thickened and I slowed way down. It became more like swimming than flying, for a bit. Then I remembered my goal to change the dream scene I was in, something I had failed at before. I looked around for something I could use as a portal. There was a very large hollow tree trunk on the ground (I was still flying) and when I looked at it a wooden, blue door appeared in the ground inside it. I thought about going through the door, But decided instead to close my eyes and spin, as I had before.

After I had spun I opened my eyes very carefully, so as not to open my real eyes, and slowly an image came into focus. I was in a recess inside of a wall, looking out into a hallway. There was a light on the other side of the hallway, and I remember a woman in uniform walking past it right after I opened my eyes. This new place seemed futuristic, though not necessarily high tech. I was under the impression that it was some sort of station or spaceship. I also had a strong sense that I had been there before, which persisted for a while even after I woke up. Perhaps a previous dream which I can't recall now...

I followed the hallway to a door, which opened into a room where two friends of mine were waiting for me. The first thing I noticed in the room was a chamber just large enough to fit a person inside it. I immediately understood this to be a teleportation chamber. My friends said they were working on fixing it, and it would be ready in a few minutes. While I waited I looked into the room and just tried to notice detail. The room was mostly made of a shiny platinum metal, and had large heavy doors, sort of like airlock doors. There was a raised platform opposite the chamber, on which there was a bench which appeared to be part of the wall. The flooring and the lower half of the wall were made of something other than the rest of the room. It was a deep blue ceramic material, which seemed to have some kind of crystals just under the surface. Very cool to look at. Which I did, until suddenly, I found myself back in bed.

      Non-lucid

      December 26, 2008

I was at my friends house, watching some kind of TV show, which I think was supposed to be funny. My friend walk in and apparently we had a conversation, but I don't remember it.

Somehow we ended up on a dock, in the middle of the night. My friend said something about how I had messed up earlier at practice, then she jumped in. Thinking it would be better to avoid the water, I jumped across onto a different dock.It was too late when I realized it was actually a ferry. When I landed I upset the ferry, and sent all of its cargo into the water, including myself.

Once I was in the water, it became more like rapids than the calm lake it had been before. My friend tried to help me back to the dock, but the current was too strong for either of us. So we drifted until the current weakened and we were able to return to shore. It seemed as if we had traveled miles down the coast.

Once we were out of the water, it became a river, and we were deep inside a forest. There was a rock face along the river, to our left, and we began walking between them looking for a place where we could rest for the night. As we walked I noticed some shelters in the rock face. They weren't caves, they were more like ravines
with wooden rooftops. They were of the sort of construction you might see in an old mine. As I walked these became bigger, and I began to hear a sound of rushing water coming from them, which grew louder, the larger the "shelter" was. Finally we reached a particularly large one. There was water dripping from the rooftop and a roar of running water coming from inside. It was about 40 feet tall I'd say, and twice as wide. When we got to it, my friend stopped me and said "Shh, do you hear that?" "Uhh, yeah." "It's too loud, we'd never get any rest." "Right..." then I woke up.

      Non-Lucid

      December 27, 2008

I was driving down a road in the desert. There was a city not too far away. The sky was overcast, and I thought it looked like it was about to rain. I reached the city very quickly and, after driving through for a bit, made a left at a traffic light which had remained yellow since it first entered my view. No one else was on the road. After I had turned, it began to rain. I looked to the horizon on my right and saw six or seven lightning bolts hit the ground in quick succession. I heard the thunder in the distance. When I looked again I saw a tornado had formed. It was an extremely vicious tornado, swirling and winding at hundreds of miles per hour. It started moving towards me.

I had moved into a parking lot, so I had little room to escape. Still, I did my best to get out of the way, driving as fast as possible through such as small area. When it passed me it turned around and came toward me again. It was chasing me. This went on for some time and, by the time it was over, the parking lot was reduced to rubble. The tornado had suddenly disappeared.

When I got out of my car I was still afraid it might reappear. It did reappear, but it was small and weak. I picked it up and pressed it against a wall, which disrupted its currents and caused it to disappear for good.

I then walked into the store which I was parked in front of. It was like a grocery store, except the only product on the shelves, and in the freezers, was sausage and salami. I went to the cashier, who told me in a lisping voice that they also had a munitions section. Immediately I knew that that's what I was here for. But before I made my way to the guns, I wanted to browse a little. I met an old hobo in one of the aisles and had a conversation with him. I wish I could remember what we talked about, as I remember being pretty fascinated by it. Anyway I moved on and eventually found the munitions aisle. On the left side all I saw were games labeled with the brand "4chan games." Odd, considering I never go to chan sites. On the right side were some typical grocery products: crackers, juices, cookies, etc.

There was a group of kids further down the aisle, who seemed to be eying me suspiciously. I walked over to them and said something (my memory for conversations is pitiful) to which they responded with jeers and snickers. Then I woke.
