Lozi's Dream Journal

This will (hopefully) be a regular recording of my other wonder-filled life that is my dreamworld. I'm kind of new to the whole concept of Lucid Dreaming and apart from one minor LD occurance many years ago, I never really paid much attention to the potential there...until recently.

I had terrifying nightmares when I was a child, memories of which I can recall to this day, but presently when I dream, I don't tend to recall them. Whether it's because the intensity of fear isn't there, I don't know. I would love to know if it's possible for me to have another lucid dream and to see how far I can control it, but in the meantime I realize that I'll have to try and walk before I can run and if I do have a LD, I'd like to recall it.

The reason I want to display my journal is because I am new and not hugely knowledgeable on this subject. So if there are any readers who can see dream signs and things I could use as reality checks and such, please feel free to comment. I would love any imput.

When a date has been missed, this means I haven't been able to recall a dream.

Thursday 12th Feb

I was being shown around different houses, checking out the rooms with a companion (I don’t know who, or whether it was male or female). I took particular note of the bathrooms, which were big with pastel coloured ceramics.
Next thing I remember was wandering around a hospital with another companion who I think was female. I was carrying books and papers. I might have been a med student, although I can’t be sure. We went to a collapsible bed that I clambered upon. A young Chinese doctor was standing beside the bed and proceeded to pierce my ears with a needle many times. I felt the needle go in but there didn’t seem to be much pain. Afterwards, I kissed him and realized he was wearing braces on his teeth. I picked my papers up off the bed and the dream fades.

I have to note that if I ever kiss somebody in a dream, it turns out bloody awful...There's either a rancid taste or there's some kind of obstruction. I blame this on past kissing experiences. I remember one previous victim of my affections drooled like a St Bernard, creating a web of saliva that could be used for an 'Alien' film, another had the smell of dead badger on his breath.

Sunday 15th Feb

I dream that I’m wandering around a large shopping mall in the town where I live. At some point I’m in a room that looks like the inside of a cinema but without the seats. It’s strange as I could recall quite a lot of this dream when I woke up, but not having written it down, a lot of it has slipped from my mind (a great reminder to write dreams in the journal *slaps hand*) I can recall my ex dying, which I felt bad about

Right, since I've been on this site, I've been able to recall my dreams. I cannot stress enough how much keeping a little pad of paper by my beside has helped. The next is possibly the best dream recall I've ever had...Hoorah! Progress already.

Monday 16th Feb

I recalled a lot more than usual in my dreams. The theme seems to be Tunnels and Trains. I’ve separated each dream sequence.

1. I dream about a man being pushed off a cliff into the sea. I jump in after him to try and save him, but he seems alright (even after hitting a rock on the way down). We swim up to a cave in the side of the cliff.

2. Next, I am in the cave with a different man, in fact a character from the Graphic Novel ‘Watchmen’- Rorschach. We both head off deeper into the cave which turns into sewer tunnels (I can’t remember any smell). I think we’re trying to solve some mystery, which remains unknown to me. We come up to a long circular tube with a door that stretches from the floor to the ceiling of the tunnel.

As I enter the enclosure, the platform I’m standing on spiral’s upward to the next level. On the next level there is a large room. At the end there is a Disc Jockey (DJ :)) playing music I can’t recall. (Is this a reminder to write in my DJ?) I don’t even remember if there was any music. That part fades but I’m still in the sewer tunnel by the spiral lift thing. There is a detective standing by me trying to find out where Rorschach is as he’s wanted by the police. Can’t recall anything more about this stage.
(I think I should add here, that I'm very much looking forward to the movie: Watchmen :) )

3. I am suddenly a train driver in a blue uniform and a perky hat. For some reason I’m walking through each carriage pushing a ‘special pram’ (I can’t recall what was special about it, but I can remember it looked unusual, without knowing why). Seating women passengers who I pass by keep grabbing the pram to marvel at it. I always pull it away from them. Next thing I know the train is jolting wildly and I’m in the driver’s compartment watching out the window, completely horrified that the train is ploughing into scores of underground workmen (who look like miners). They are sitting on the tracks with sandwiches and cups of tea in their hands! Then I’m off the train (just appeared outside it) and I’m walking about the scene of carnage trying to find any survivors. There is one man who is looking shocked at me. There was no blood in the dream just people lying still on the ground.

4. Last dream I recall has me standing on a train station platform. There is a stationary train in front of me. My parents are there as well and my father scoots into the open door of the train and out the other side to get to a room in which my brother is sleeping. My brother has disappeared and my mother thinks he has been taken away by a deceased soul band (*rolls eyes*…even in my dreams, my jokes are rubbish). It kind of ends there…I wake up.

As I make my morning coffee, an old advert about a male-grooming product replays in my head. I haven’t remembered it for years and suddenly it appears in my head:
‘Insignia’s got everything, shampoo to shower gel, deodorant, aftershave; it’s that one all-over smell’
I have a feeling that might have been what the Disc Jockey was playing in the sewers.
It might be worth noting that I have PMT at the moment. My dreams are sometimes bloody and full of carnage when I’m on. Disgusting but true!

Anyway, my dream recall seems to be improving.

Very interesting dream last night.

Walking through the streets in my area (its daylight), I pass by a narrow pathway between a house and a high garden wall. I know this path leads to a Valley that is at the back of the houses. There is a figure standing on the path- It's the Joker (from Batman) and he stands there with a sinister grin on his face. He's beckoning to me with his finger but I find this incredibly creepy and so I simply walk away.

Then it's night-time and I'm back at the path again which now how a large narrow gate in front of it. There is also a gate leading into a garden beside the path. For some reason Jessica Fletcher (Angela Lansbury) from Murder She Wrote is with me. There is another woman (faceless) who tells us that something is known to creep down the path at night but can't explain what it is but both Jessica and I have been invited to stay over in the garden so we'll solve the mystery! We open the gate into our 'room' which turns out to be a small garden with small fairy lights for illumination. We are surrounded by four tall brick walls (about 6 feet high), although the wall next to the path has roller blinds, so we can see if anything passes us by on the path. Jessica walks in first over to a single bed in the far corner of the garden. As I enter I see an unusual spider with an almost luminescent glow about it. I'm terrified of spiders and so it just disappears into a crack in the wall. I think no more about it.

When I go further into the 'room' I see Jessica is already in her PJ's and sitting up in bed with a book in hand. I glance at her feet and just about notice she has red nail varnish on her toes.

Next thing, she is saying she heard something on the path (worth noting here that when she speaks she sounds exactly like she's supposed to-with Angela Lansbury's voice :) ). We both look under the blinds. I can see the dark path stretching right to the gate and left into the valley, which is pitch black. There is nothing there. Things get a bit odd now as for some reason I'm in the middle of the garden room straddling Scarlett Johansson (who is sitting in a barbers chair) and I am attempting to shave her (hairless) face with a razor that has no razor in it!

Then my mind has obviously thought that this particular situation wasn't going anywhere and so I'm lying in the bed which is now positioned right next to the blinded wall, next to the path. Jessica has disappeared and I'm on my own. Although the blinds are blowing in a breeze I know there is nothing on the path and so my mind decides to take another detour and I'm suddenly kissing the bare chest of a male singer in a popular 90's indie band :) and after that I wake up.

What the....? There are some interesting things I took from this dream, mainly that there were sinister undercurrents (such as the Joker and the imagined thing that could have been on the path) that my brain didn't succumb to. As a child, it would have been a given that the thing on the path would have been a monster or demon who would have pulled me into it's clutches but there you go. Nothing happened.

Also when I was looking at the path at one point, I feel I might have been able to become lucid as I remember thinking at that time that it was unusual for there to be nothing on the path, and I think I was so close to deciding that it was unusual FOR A DREAM. Damn! I really believe I was close. However my brain decided that giving Scarlett Johansson a shave was far more interesting.

It's been a few days since I had anything to write about. I haven't been able to recall a huge amount. I had another dream about Aliens and more trains on one of these days, but not much else that I can remember.

However I can remember a couple of dreams I had last night, one of which I'm sure my brain was trying to tell me something. *Edit* Suddenly just this second recalled a dream before that and boy was it odd:

I was in an office environment..a one level building. Ian Holm's replicant character in Alien was there (I don't know what it is about the movies Alien and Aliens that I keep dreaming about them) and for some reason a small group of four (including me) were given a dartgun each and told that the task would be to shoot the others in the group during the day...the last one to be darted would be the winner. The four people were Scott Baio (from Diagnosis Murder) another random guy, Kylie Minogue and myself. Throughout the course of the task I'd took to running around the building, hiding behind desks until my first victim was Scott Baoi. He looked so disappoointed when I shot him. Some time after that I managed to shoot the other guy. Later when I was outside the building I snuck up behind Kylie Minogue who promptly turned and shot me. The diminuitive pop princess was the Winnah! I was annoyed that I spent so much time sneaking up on her, instead of just shooting her in the back...Damn!

This next dream one had me as side-kick to detective Hercule Poirot (I'm sure my mind is pitching me with famous detectives in my struggle to understand when I'm dreaming...However...) We were in the sitting room of a smallish house and trying to figure out who the culprit was (I think murder might have been involved). When we both sitting together on the sofa I had a vision of a small tan cushion being shoved down the back of it. I knew this cushion was the key to solving the murder. A few moments later Hercule lifted the padded seat and discovered the tan cushion in the sofa's interior. He held it up to me and I promptly said:

'Hey, I had a dream that the cushion was hidden in there!'

Poirot then gave me a funny look and that was the end of that.

The next one had me attending a class at either Cambridge or Oxford University. Firstly, my father dropped me off at the train station, which didn't make a blind bit of difference because next thing I know I'm outside this venerable building which holds my class. I get lost in the corridors and am late for the class. I take a seat and listen to the lecturer speaking to the rest of the students (It's an art class). He has a large self portrait behind him as he speaks. The portrait is basically a full body painting of him lying on his side in the same clothes at he's wearing when he's teaching. I note that the painting is amateur. Then a girl asks me to take photo's of images on the TV screen that is set up behind us, with her digital camera. I have difficulty using it but manage to take a couple of shots. The dream ends around this point and I wake up.

Sooo, I think I'm destined to be stuck with famous detectives in my dreams. And I'm still kicking myself about mentioning a dream in my dream and yet not realising I was in one.

I've been clobbered with cold symptoms of late and I'm finding it very difficult to get to sleep. When I wake my recall is terrible. However I had a nap today and managed to remember a bit of my dream.

I am running through corridors in a hotel, banging my fist against doors, waking the occupants up because there is a fire. One door that opens has a lady, blurry eyed and confused, looking at me in a daze. I tell her that she has to leave her room as there is a fire and still she stands there, not understanding what I'm saying. I scream at her that there is a fire...'don't you realize this could be your worst nightmare?' I scream. She continues to look dazed and I wake up.

Hey, might not be the most exciting dream in the world, but I'm noticing that at some points when I'm dreaming, my mind is trying to force some distinction between reality and the dream world. It's just recalling the bloody things that is a problem at the moment :)

I managed to remember about three of my dreams last night. Recall has come back with a vengence.

I am the assistant to Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep from the movie 'The Devil wears Prada). I am wearing a gorgeous red dress for a party we have to go to. Suddenly Miranda comes into the room wearing the exact same dress. I panic and we both try to find something else I can wear instead. At some point I've got hold of a knitted wool top and I'm unravelling it much to Miranda's displeasure.

I then find myself outside of my local chemists. I am a postal worker and fiddling around with test tubes, filling them with blue liquid. To the right of me is a love letter by an actor who happens to be a chemist in my dream. He exits the chemists and comes over to me. We then kiss. After that I proceed to bugger up the measurements in the test-tube and my superior appears to tell me off.

Next I am a male character from the soap opera 'Eastenders' (Minty, I think his name is) and I'm in a car with one of the female characters. The car is crashing down a slope and I can see the woman smacking her head on the dashboard. When the car eventually stops, something incredibly odd happens (first time I can remember anything like this happening in my dream): I think I've woken up. I'm in bed and directly beside it is my easel - a position its never been in. Behind me I can hear a monotonous female voice telling me to 'wake up, wake up, wake up...' It's annoying me because I want to get back to sleep so I can dream (It doesn't occur to me that this is a dream) and so I lay my head back on the pillow, the voice disappears.

I'm now walking along a beach and I realize I'm being followed by Paul Hogan (as Crocodile Dundee...what else). I walk further up the beach and meet my dad and my brother who are standing in front of a clear rectangular box which stretches over the water. Hanging from the top of the box (on the inside) are thousands of brown beetles. They only hang from the top. On the other side of the box is an entrance to some kind of beetle factory. There are conveyor belts and cogs clunking around transporting cardboard boxes deeper into its interior. Crocodile Dundee decided to crawl in and gets out the other side before disappearing. My brother and I decide to follow. We both jump out the other side and I see a cardboard box containing a smiling Paul Hogan along with a couple of muppets. Their box is being conveyed out of sight. I notice that the beetles are technologically advanced and have set a booby trap up, which my brother triggers. Sharp razor blades jettison out from side of the walls, but they're rigged so low that they only cut up our shoes. After that the structure begins to collapse and we land in the water below. I meet the actor who sent me a love note in the previous dream and we end up kissing for a second time.

I have another dream about the valley and passing by a large number of grizzly bears to get to a camp with a tent. A woman needs a new dress and I tell her I have a lovely gold dress that she can have. I run back to my house, passing by a group of boys playing cricket. I wake up soon after that.

Not sure what the voice was trying to do in my dream, whether it was telling me to wake up or whether it trying to tell me to become lucid. Unfortunately I seem to be unbelievably stupid in my dreams and so tend to ignore the signs. *sigh!* One day!
